Q:What dimmer switch is compatible with this bulb?

Answer This Question
A:Â Here is a link to a website where you can find a compatible dimmer.
https://www.lutron.com/en-US/Pages/LEDCompatibilityTool/Compatibility.aspx
There may be other dimmer manufacturers out there, and I don't know if Home Depot carries Lutron or not. But if not, you can check with your Home Depot assistant. I would not ask them to make a recommendation. I used to work in this position elsewhere and I can tell you there are too many LED/dimmer combinations to remember all the possibilities. Good luck!

A:Â Lamp illumination is rated by lumen. Power and lumen don't necessarily correspond. This lamp is 1600 lumen which is one of the brighest lamps for its category.

A:Â A 100 watt filament bulb (which is no longer available) gave 1000 to 1250 lumens of light.
An LED drawing in the range of 13 to 20 watts will give off 1250 to 2000 lumens of light.
Filament bulbs draw current equivalent to their ratings. Most of that current is wasted as heat, which is ok in the winter, but adds a heat load to the air conditioner in the summer, to the tune of 85 watts wasted energy for a 100 watt filament bulb.
LED bulbs draw much less current than filament bulbs, give more or equivalent light in lumens, and they last much longer.
Generally speaking, fixtures that were built for filament bulbs will handle LED bulbs. One notable exception will be those fixtures that do not allow air flow within the confined space, because some LED bulbs cannot be used in enclosed fixtures. That restriction will be found on the box, or on the bulb itself. Should one install an LED bulb in an enclosed fixture and the bulb starts to flicker after a while, it probably is a bulb that needs open air around it.
So long as the pendant light kit described has an open end for air circulation, the Cree bulb should be fine. It is one of those bulbs that needs open air around it.

A:Â If you look in the details section it lists the Light Bulb Base Code as E26. It's an LED bulb so it only uses 15W of energy but producing light equivalent to a standard 100W bulb.

A:Â I use mine in a globe fixture. It only uses 15 watts and the heat load is minimal. I don't know for sure what is special about bulbs used for ceiling fans except maybe the amount of vibration. An LED is a solid-state device which usually handle vibration well. Incandescent bulbs have a tungsten wire which is brittle and easily broken when hot.-- special designs are used for locations with a lot of vibration.

I can see
Ok, So I just changed all the light bulbs in my bedroom and I want to cry because NOW, I can see! My vision at 62 is not what it was just 10 years ago and I have struggled not to squint, even with my glasses on. I have tried different lighting and bulbs but nothing was really good for ME! I was visiting a neighbor's home and was so impressed with the lighting, it was Cree! I guess as you age light becomes a BIG DEAL. Thanks Cree
