        only lasted around 2 years.
I purchased a BR40 Dimmable LED Light Bulb about 2 years ago, thinking it would last me around 10 yrs (since it has 10 yrs guarantee), yesterday the light bulb died.

Lasted for less than a year.
I bought this at my local Home Depot at the beginning of this year of 2020. The bulb is rated for 25k hours and got no where near a third of it's rated life. I tore the bulb apart to see what's inside and I used my multimeter and found 3 resistors that we're in parallel short-circuited. Wasn't sure if they used bad parts, or there was too much heat inside the bulb.

These work great when first installed........
BUT they have a ridiculous fail rate of nearly 50% in just 3-4 months. I bought these because they offer a lot of light and they flood out well. But so far I have had 11 fail on a short period of time. When buying expensive led bulbs to upgrade your home, half the point is that they likely will last 10+ years, and you might never have to replace them again. I am going to exchange 9 more today in hopes they have improved or maybe I just bought a defective run. If I have more issues I will be returning all of them and looking for a better option.

These bulbs don't last long at all. I bought some in March of 2019 mainly because they advertise 22 plus years of life. They quit working in less than six months. They also advertise a 10 year 100% guarantee. The box says to contact Cree for replacement instructions if not 100% satisfied. I'm not satisfied at all. And, when I called Cree they gave me the runaround and said they would call me back. They did not. After a few more calls I spoke to a guy who says his name was Ryan who thought it was funny. Don't waste your money on any products from Cree. There customer service is no good.

This bulb gives a brighter look to our Roman tub, the last bulb was very dull looking.

These things are exceptionally bright and very true to color. More than any standard type residential bulb I've used. But, with track lights on 17' high ceiling, the brightness is appreciated. A dimmer switch on the circuit allows us to adjust downward when we don't require the highest level of luminescence. LED bulbs have forced us all to forget about watts and learn about lumens, degrees Kelvin and CRI. But, our choices have expanded greatly from the old incandescent scenario and provided us with so many options. These Cree flood lights are the epitome of the much broader range in lighting choices we now have.

Cree is simply the best. I used it with a Mastro Dimmer and programmed them down to almost off with no flicker. I picked the 3000K for the whiter light. (not blue like like the 5K). The application is the basement rec room with 9 fixtures. We turn them on 100% for cleaning etc. then dim them to 50 etc. for normal use. Replaced the standard 65 watt BR30 floods and got more light plus energy savings. The only negative is that the local stores did not stock the 3K, but the on-line ordering went fine.
