I bought my first pair over 10 years ago and still use them daily to cut nails, screws, and wire. Bought a new pair because I finally broke the tip of my old ones. (But still in daily use) These are made of HARD steel, and made to cut metal easily. I have looked over the years and never found better. Nothing comes close to the strength, power, and ease of use. BUY THESE, avoid cheap imitations.

Broke after 3 months. ...
I'm a low-voltage contractor and I'm using this cutter to cut mostly wires and sometimes small screws. During past six years I bought 5 of this cutters and 2 of them got broken after several months. Overall this one was the best cutter I ever had and it's very sharp, but they need to make some improvements on the material quality.

Not durable
I've had these pliers for about 1 year. I am a homeowner and only use the pliers occasionally (maybe 2-3 times per month). I was trimming a small bolt that was too long and the pliers broke. The break revealed the poor quality steel. I'm surprised because I've always considered Crescent to be high-quality tools. This one is not high-quality.

poor steel quality
I have purchased these cutters for many years and the design is perfect but unfortunately their quality has steadily decreased over the years…. I find myself having to purchase new ones more frequently these days. They used to have blue handles and lasted many months, in fact the spring would wear out long before the blades ever dulled. The blades on today’s version tend to chip and break before the spring wears out….. the only up side is that they are now priced lower.

Perfect for electrical work. Nice grip, no great grip, and good size for easy clipping and twisting wires. Would recommend to anyone .
    Excellent quality and finish

    Broken spring
I bought my pair of cutters a year or so ago after my old pair finally became badly worn. Incidentally, that pair had blue handles. My replacement worked very well for a few months, and then the spring in the handles broke. It appears the spring was damaged during assembly. I would like to know if these have a warrantee. They are not at all comfortable to use without this spring.
