This 5" x 1", fully zinc-plated corner brace has one important job and that job is securing 2 unrelated items together at 90 degrees. Sounds simple. This brace will normally do that job very well and should last a long time. However, I found when I used this brace on the end-grain of 2 cleats that I was reinforcing for shelving the screw holes were too close to the end grain which split the cleat and compromised it's strength. The wood is doing the job as well as the cleat. When it split I had to replace it.. I also couldn't pre-drill the hole because the head of my drill was too large and the hole in the cleat was so close to the joint that it would have pushed the drill bit in at an angle through both pieces compromising both end grains. So I'm not sure why they designed the brace with holes so close to the joint but it ruined some lumber for me. I ended up replacing the lumber and using a different brace. If you're using these on the end grain of wood you may want to think twice. It's not totally user friendly for pre-drilling and not ideal for end grain applications.

One inch wide and zink plated for corrosion protection. Three mounting holes per side with chamfer on the inside to have the mounting screw head even with the brace surface. About 1/8 inch thick and has a tight bend. I use these braces to mount flower boxes I make so its not technically a corner brace. I mount the brace on the outside of the house and lay the flower box on the bottom of the brace. Then screw the brace from the bottom into the bottom of the flower box. The braces shown in one of the photos are from a previous project and are larger than 5 inch.

I used these to install small shelves in my workshop. They are strong and easily accommodate the 1” x 6” shelving boards I use. I can load up the shelves and not have to worry about the weight causing the brace to bend. These are very good quality. The zinc coating completely covers the base metal so should not have any rust issues. The 90 degree bend is smooth and rounded which gives the brace strength. I’m very happy with this product and would recommend it to others.

Quality throughout. The zinc plating will slow down if not stop any rusting. Screws DO NOT come with this product. The ninety degree angle is just that...ninety degree. I recommend a #10 size screws. The bracket holes are countersunk-tapered to accommodate flat head screws for flush fitting, though it will accept whatever you can fit through the hole.

We are using the brackets to reinforce part of our feline play structure ala _Animal Cribs_, and so far, none of our cats have bent them or been panicky because they shifted underneath. The offset mounting holes give an extra bit of security, and the brackets were easy to use.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Strong but not 90 degrees Had to disassemble project and bend these to 90 degrees, about 85 degrees off the shelf. I'm not sure I understand how so much work can go into manufacturing a product and has a most basic defect to it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked As Intended Used these to fasten the vertical supports of a custom pantry to the wall. Probably overkill, but work really well. I didn’t measure the exact degree that they were bent, but I didn’t notice any issues.
