Questions & Answers

Is the chute a manual crank operation

Asked by: sunshineman68
It isn't a crank but more like a joystick. Remove the handle left right to change the direction of the shoot and the handle up down to regulate how high or low it blows out of the chute. Nice simple one-hand operation for both.

Doe it have a pull start along with the electric start?

Asked by: NorthernNY
Yes, has both. However, after 10 hrs of use during one snow season I've have to take it in because the darn thing would not start. Calling the company they said "It's got to be old gas you're using." Well, if going to the gas station and making a gas purchase for the Cadet is called "old gas" than there is something terribly wrong with this engine's design. The tune-up was done, thinking it would clean up and get this Cadet going again. It started when their warranty service provider started it; however, it for the 2nd year in a row has not started when it was needed. Nice looking, not reliable machine...no matter how many times you pull on the pull start and/or electric start. Do not waster your money.

No it does not come with an extension cord but why would you need one? Started in the garage and if you need to start it outside mine always starts with one or two pulls

Customer Reviews

2X 526 SWE 26 in. 243cc Two-Stage Electric Start Gas Snow Blower with Power Steering is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 57.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Smowblower! Posting this review to clarify a couple of "annoyances" listed in previous reviews. I just purchased this model myself, we had a 31 inch blizzard of heavy snow, right off the truck, this thing powered through the mess easily using some basic common sense, it threw heavy snow a good 30 feet. Other revews criticizing the forward speed ratios are a bit silly to me. For heavy removal, first gear is the only gear to use, if you find it necessary to have a machine that clears snow at a brisk walk pace, then spend a couple thousand more for the BMW version of snowblowers. First and second gears are for heavy snow and light (1-3 inch) accumulations accordingly. 3rd and 4th gears are for moving the unit from place to place quickly between jobs. Also, reviews clsiming this unit is for "folks under 5'6" are absolutely rediculous, not true at all (unless you are 6'5 and have arms like T Rex) I am 6'0 and this units controls and handles dont seem to low to me at all. This unit seems solid, powerfull and extremely capable. I am pleased with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use and powerful I purchased this particular snow blower because it was a little bit cheaper than the Ariens brand same size. The cub cadet had a more powerful motor and I don't mind a plastic chute as I don't have to worry about rust or paint chipping on it. First time I used it was with our first big snow storm on 12/9/12 in the Twin Cities, MN. Had no problem going through the approximately 10 inches of heavy snow. I've never had such a powerful snow blower before. It was shooting the snow at least 25-35 feet out into the yard. Had the driveway done in no time. Did not have any problem with bulb in headlight burning out like previous review. That would be an easy fix anyhow by buying a new bulb. Didn't have any problem with it blowing snow anywhere but out the chute. Might I also mention that with only a little pushing had no problem going up our slanted driveway. Absolutely no regrets buying this model. I am set for many winters to come.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality product at an excellent price Fresh off a crate the product was filled with fuel, primed and started on first pull. Made short work of 6 inch snow fall trowing it 40 feet with plenty of power to spare. I'm sure this snowblower could easily handle 1-1/2 feet in no time at all. Only complaint was speed difference between 1st and 2nd drive position. The 1st forward is mind numbingly slow where 2nd is a mild walking speed. Then each higher speed position just a little faster than previous. Found the power steering easy to get used to and now wouldn't think of buying a snowblower without it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to get started Machine really works well. Took only a few minutes to set up. Started instantly--the engine didn't even turn over twice, it just immediately started when I pressed the electronic start button. I also have to say that the Home Depot delivery carrier was first rate, really went the extra mile to get the machine up my driveway. Very pleased with this purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Great Snow Blower I bought the Cub Cadet to replace an old blower that sometimes worked and sometimes didn't (living in Syracuse with an average snowfall of 10-12 feet per season, dependability is very important). I'm very pleased with the Cub Cadet and particularly like the Zero Turn Posi-Steer power steering function which offers great manuverability. The only down side i found was that they did not include a Power Cord for this "Electric Start" Snow Blower, however, since the machine has started with the first pull this has not been an issue. This is a great Snow Blower.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I really do like it. This is my first snow blower and after spending way too much time comparing different models and brands I ended up buying this one. It fits my needs perfectly. It's the right size 26". The tires are bigger and have great traction. The engine is more powerful than what is found on 24" blowers. It's easy to control the chute left to right, up and down while blowing snow with one hand. It's throws snow a great distance, I prefer the plastic chute as it's cheap to replace and wont rust out like the metal ones. Some people will knock this brand because of where the engines are from but in today's world everything is made in the same part of the world. As long as you change the oil after it's first good use, have good gas with a stabilizer you wont have any problems. Today they add ethanol to fuel so it's a problem for ALL small engines. Many people disregard that and then complain when they run into problems from this. It's important to always have fresh gas and not to leave it sitting in the machine for extended periods. Your machine will last for a long time as long as you take care of it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Five stars all around. This machine handles just about anything west michigan weather throws at it! It's powerful! This is a powerful machine to handle anything west michigan lake effect snow can throw at it. The discharge chute handle is easy to use and an awesome feature to change direction on the fly. The height adjustable skids make it easy not to pick up rocks from the front portion of my driveway. The blower turns on a dime as well which is awesome. I've used this machine at least ten times in the past two weeks and it starts in the first or second pull each time. Gas usage is gear as well. I've put gas in it twice and I have a 200yard plus length driveway. The front headlamp is extremely useful too since I don't have a lot of outdoor lighting. Overall this is a highly recommended machine. I can't find anything that is not liked. It does have electric start but I find it more cumbersome to have to hook up an electric cord to the machine when I'm still fully able to hit the primer twice and use the pull cord. Just a personal choice of mine. If your older or have a bad shoulder the electic start would be ideal.
