Questions & Answers

Can it be used as a brush hog

Asked by: Doc
The fact that you even asked this tells me you probably should be using a walk behind LAWN mower.

Do some of them come with a bagger

Asked by: Mowerdeboss
From what I understand, the bagger is always extra. Runs for about $150.

Do you have to squeeze levers to turn it?

Asked by: RonRed
Squeezing the left lever engages the drive mechanism (which was DOA on mine), but turning is achieved manually. While I don't think it would be that difficult to steer, I only got to use mine for a few minutes before the drive mechanism died.

How good does it mulch

How do you adjust cutting height
Asked by: Ba
OK for shorter dryer grass. Not so good with longer, wetter grass. This applies to all mowers, not just this one. Has a slight edge over the typical mower because it is so powerful.

33 in. 382cc Wide-Cut Gas Self Propelled Walk Behind Lawn Mower with Electric Start is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 86.

The new state of American manufacturing is a real disappointment. Cub Cadet and other brands use to stand for quality. . . no longer independently built, they are basically all made at the same factory, just painted a different color with different brand names put on them. What's the point ? Generic lawn mowers. This wide cut mower could be really great but they instead make cheap parts in order to create a money making replacement parts business. I can't count the number of cables that have broken in the past four years on this mower . . if they are 4 wire strand cables, then they could and should have improved them to 6 ?? but at $30 or $40 dollars a pop, it's a great money maker. Luckily for me I have mechanical abilities and don't mind patching stuff up to keep it going. If I had to take this thing to a dealer for service every time something came apart, it would be a $10,000 mower by now. Too bad, I love using this thing. I have no issues with it's features, how it works, cuts, and feels, or how it makes my lawn look 5 times better than using a big honker riding mower. I'm 62 and love the exercise this provides. I have 2 acres with slopes, ruts, hills, etc. very rough on lawn equipment. This mower, as most, was likely tested on a nice smooth flat golf green like surface. Certainly not built to endure a real lawn. After recently paying $250 to have all 4 cables replaced and everything else serviced and fixed up to hopefully get one more season out of it, IT LITTERALY BROKEN IN HALF on both sides above the weld that joins the deck with the engine housing. Long gone is the day you can buy something that lasts . . everything is use a while and throw it away. I'm a staunch do-it-yourself guy . . I don't know what to do ? keep buying throw away mowers ? take a chance on one of the ultra-expensive brands ? or give up and hire a lawn service and go work out at the gym ? that sucks

Intermittent starter issues the second season so I hauled it to a service center and they told me to replace the battery which I did but the problems persisted. Banging the starter with a hammer each time was what I was doing to get it started all of last season. This season I had the same issue but got it started a month ago. Now back from a 3+ week vacation and my grass really needs to be mowed and it wont start at all, the starter just smokes. Cub Cadet customer service was worthless last year when I called them (phone system would just take me back to the main menu and it was impossible to get through to anyone) and now a year later I bet they will say I'm out of warranty (even though this was an old issue)...

I would have liked to have written a review that said how great this product was but never got to even use the product. It was delivered on a Friday and with a defective/flat rear tire to which I called Cub Cadet customer service and they proceeded to send a new tire. I then noticed that over the weekend as the mower sat unused that it had been leaking oil from somewhere I was unable to locate and the oil was now empty. I called customer service again to get someone to service and they said I would have to cover cost of pickup and delivery to have serviced to which I explained that they should just take back the machine. They said I would have to go through Home Depot since that is where I purchased from. Thankfully Home Depot Customer Service was more professional and promptly processed my request to return the product. Will NOT ever purchase another Cub Cadet product because of poor customer service.

I talked to the Cub Cadet repair guy and he said that's how they are, you are lucky to get a year out of it. Nice policy where they put a low quality battery in a $1300 lawn mover and then want you to drop $75 for a new batter the next year. Other than that I like it, but because of this issue I will not buy another Cub Cadet product.

This mower will certainly cut some grass......I really enjoyed cutting with it. In my opinion the one thing I wished was different would be that it would have handles that would help in turning. It has a powerful mower and pulling action, and if you are cutting a lot of grass, turning this mower on your own can be tiresome.

It is maneuverable to an extent but hardly zero turn agility. The motor is a brute and will cut any grass...tall...wet...whatever. It starts up zip, zip...no problem. I wanted this mower because I have a lot of trees and cut ins and I would be on a tractor forever. I use a smaller 21" Sears self-propelled for the borders and close work. This tractor does not cut in easily. I use it for the large straightaways. It has a huge tank (2 gallons). I use 89 octane with 1 oz of Stabil per gallon. It takes getting used to the gear box. 2 is a bit slow and 3 is a bit fast. You probably have to be an Olympian to run it in 4th. You do get used to its peculiarities after a few cuts. It's not instantly. Besides the trees, this stores much more easily than a tractor. It wasn't cheap but I think that it gives you good value.
