Q:I have a 50in cub cadet rzt, can these blades mulch also ?

          Answer This Question

A:  Seeing as you can use a computer to post this question, why not first look in your Owners Manual; You will find your OEM Blade choices there: Regular Blade and Mulching Blade, then you can call the Cub Cadet 1 800 # and speak with the OEM Part Support Techs You will need: Model / type of mower unit Serial Number Model Number (all this information can be easily located by pushing your seat forward, and there is a decal with all that info including the 800# right there). They would know if there is a generic manufactured blades and the numbers. When you go to the Store, make sure you take this info with you; When you are in the aisle for outdoor parts, there is a hanging flip chart that will help you find all your matching numbers, and tell you the OEM Part # and the Generic, and the blade strength, and mulching or not. The wrapper will probably have the info you are seeking... Tip: the regular blades are normally flat, the mulching blades have a heated rise in them. I have also found that Oregon Blades are heavier / beefier than generic, and Name Brand ( I didn't Say OEM) Mulching Blades are better than Generic as well...

A:  Hello Rontomor. The 50 in. Blade Set for Select Club Cadet Lawn Tractors are 2 in 1 blades and are designed for side discharge mowing and bagging. They are not mulch blades.

Unsure why the negativity about blades
The critical concern was the star cluster center as I have star spindles; otherwise there was nothing exciting about the other three elements to say. I mowed for years for NYS, and used various equipment, you might have seen me mowing in one of my work locations in your travels. I have had several Lawn tractors over the years, and try to maintain and keep them for various use's, spare mower, snow blade drag behind mower deck / tiller Currently I use my Cub Cadet 50" for the past 5 yrs now, to do several different locations; my lawn, the adjacent front lawn, road edge, and trailer it to 2 other properties..... Yes I find tree branches from wind etc, and the 6 ft roadside pass which I try to do twice, each time done, does collect debris from cars.... HELLO that's why you walk the area first, and then a high pass first time, a med. height second time. The gopher holes around the chain link perimeter fence do annoy me as I HATE MOWING ROCKS.... I have no clue about the terrain's your mowing, but you can't mow tire ruts... maybe if you try raising the deck a bit, and look before you mow,and avoid mowing the rocks every other day like my neighbor does, your blades will last awhile longer and a better finish cut, ever consider having your blades sharpened professionally as well...

            low stock
I bent one blade so went to purchase but only had it in 3 pack. Then only had 1set available. Scared if I need another set will have to order online which sucks.

Cutting blades for my 52' zero turn Cub Cadet.
Bought a set of blades for my zero turn 52" cub cadet and it arrived before target date which was great. Blades where exactly what I ordered and all is well.

            Wears out fast
These blades work great for maybe 6 mowings but wear to the point that they will not lift the grass to make a clean cut. The grass is layed down instead of being lifted up for a clean cut. Maybe a better grade of metal would fix this problem.

Work great when new, but wear out fast.
I have to buy a new pair every year due to them wearing out too fast. After mowing about 6 times they are so worn, that there is no point to try and sharpen them. when they are new, they work great, but for the money they honestly should last longer.

Very nice fit and worked well cutting.
Blades were engineered wonderfully and fit like a charm. The difference in cutting compared to my old set was night and day. Very nice to use.
