How do you adjust depth of blade on edger
Asked by: Owl
The handle on the right hand side raises and lowers the front wheels which determines the depth of blade engagement.

The assembly was somewhat challenging because a cable was on backwards. Then I noticed that the FAN belt was off. OMG – It took me 2 hours to put it on! Ok – 4 hours after beginning, I got to use it. It does have a lot of plastic for the cost of the unit?? I started it with one pull, cut about eight (8) feet along my sidewalk and the FAN BELT broke. I had it at set at about 50% depth. Another OMG moment!! I grabbed all of the stuff that came with it and promptly returned it to HOME depot. They gave me a hard time but did finally take it back. Please read what so many others have written regarding this edger and STAY away!!! You might think it’s something you did BUT I read ALL of the reviews and so many had the same issue or even worse. READ the reviews prior to buying. Very poorly designed $300 edger. It has a 3 year warranty, but I can't keep taking it every 8 feet for a new belt. Frustrating to say the least.

Purchased this item to trench in a wire for an invisible dog fence based on the product description. I followed the instructions for adding the second blade to set up for use as a trencher and noticed that with the second blade, there is sufficient flex, when engaging the ground, that the two blades hit each other and throw off sparks. In the trenching configuration, I wasn't able to trench more than about 1" depth so I removed the second blade to use in the edging configuration. With this set up, I was able to trench to about 2"-3" depth but the width was so small, it was difficult to get the wire in and pushed down to the bottom of the trench. Even in the edging configuration, trying to cut at it's deepest setting severely overpowers the engine, even working back and forth in short strokes, so I stalled the engine a lot. The only positive is that that it was relatively easy to restart. Bottom line is, it may pass as an edger but in my opinion, it is completely unacceptable as a trencher.

Starts easy, has great power and cuts a nice clean edge, but the belt broke within a few minutes of operation. I called customer service and they told me to take it to the dealer to have it replaced. The dealer said the belt might be covered or it might not be covered by the warranty. After taking my information, they said it would take two weeks to repair it under warranty. My response was: Really, I am right in the middle of my project and I need it now. Frustrated, I bought the replacement belt and told her if the belt breaks that soon again I'm taking it back to Home Depot and getting my money back. It took me some time to figure out how to replace the belt! I did some research online and learned with the Club Cadet Edger, the belt slips when the blade get stuck and continues to spin and burns up. Believe me it does not take long! I believe it's a poor quality made belt. I also figured out you cannot set the cutting depth to deep in thick grass. You have to lower it gradually making more than one pass, if you don't want the belt to burn up. I rated it a 1 star to bring it to the attention of the manufacture and Home Depot to correct the problem!

As mentioned by MANY previous reviewers, I too was using it for light lawn edging. I contacted the manufacturer and spoke to a tech who told me to take it to a dealer. It was 6 weeks at an out of town authorized dealer for repair due to their business levels. They replaced the belt. This spring I used it twice after the new belt and low and behold, the belt broke AGAIN. I haven't even begun to use the trencher function and cannot imagine the belt would last. The edger starts right up, has all of the features I need, but if it goes through a belt every 2nd edging - this isn't going to play. You may think it's you, but I'm relieved to read ALL of the reviews with the same issues, and yet disappointed in a poorly designed $300 edger. It has a 3 year warranty, but I can't keep taking it every 2 edgings for a new belt. Frustrating.

Good job edging with precise cut. Adjustability is good. Maneuverability is more difficult when navigating around tight turns along flower beds, and the angle of the handle seems to be too upright. It may take some getting use to but overall not bad.

Much more power than 79cc model. Extra blade included.. Like it's brother Snow blower which started last week on 2 pulls after not being started for over a year -- main reason I went with the cub cadet.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Hard to push in Floratam My old 4 wheel edger finally died and needed replacing but $600 was a lot so I went cheap. Edging garden bricks requires a shove by my foot every step. Otherwise you would push the front into the ground. Wants to tip over when edging the street with a sloped gutter.
