No, max. depth of the cut is only 2", which it would leave the pipe only flush with the ground d and there is an additional blade for trenching.

Works well with my curb, which is tall. I use the last setting and works OK. The problem is when the curb tapers to the sidewalk. Basically on these areas I tend to just hold the unit up and let it work. I don't think anything would work well on these areas except the trimmer edger attachments and they bother my shoulders.

Hello rappo. The LE100 9 in. 140cc Tri-Tip Blade 4-Cycle Walk-Behind Gas Lawn Edger/Trencher curb feature works as follows: The curb height adjustment lever is found on the rear portion of the edger. When placed in an applicable notch, it aids in stabilizing the edger while edging grass along a curb. Thank you for your question.

Can a wire brush wheel be attached like a blade to clean grass from cracks in asphalt and concrete

It would have to be very thin. I would worry about the brush contacting the plastic guard. A wire brush on asphalt is a bad idea, it will tend to melt the asphalt. How about using a string trimmer with wire string?

I have a curved driveway and it does fine. The wheels don’t steer, but you can work it around without much effort.

First gas powered lawn tool I bought that was not a Husqvarna. Big mistake. The handle and deadman lever are thin unpadded metal and left me with two cuts on my fingers. The cable connection between the deadman’s lever and the engine is fairly simple and uncovered or routed discretely. The rear wheels are not true and they wobble even though the hub bolts are tight. Also, the edger blade will hit the concrete even with the adjustment lever pulled all the way back. Lastly, the gas engine struggles at times when you hit some dirt. Sorry for being so negative but I’ve come to expect higher quality with my Husqvarna products. Zero turn, gas weedwacker, blower and walk behind mower. Also had a Husqvarna lawn tractor. All tough, reliable and well made.

Purchased this to replace a 30+ year old Craftsman that just plum wore out after edging some 700 foot of walk every week. As reported by many, the belt broke on the second edging of sidewalk. My guess is that any major resistance on the blade will cause the belt to slip resulting in it burning up. (Think multiple/shallow passes in a heavy overgrown grass edging situation) In my case it was probably a build up of wet dirt in the blade guard that I failed to clean out and it hardened between uses. This wasn't a problem with the old unit. Replacing the belt is not fun but there are two things that make it infinitely easier. Use a bar clamp to compress the tensioning spring and tie a piece of wire onto the belt to help pull the belt past the idler pulleys. The MTD replacement belt (available on the shelf at a competitor) is not the same material as the original. It does not look like it will melt as the OEM one did, we will see. The belt is installed with a twist in it as the idler pulley is horizontal and the driven pulley vertical. Not a good design. Comments: It edges fine and has wheel hop and dual front wheel. The fact that you can't disengage the blade without shutting off the engine is annoying. There is no throttle adjustment (again annoying) and no choke or primer bulb. My engine lopes, but starts fine and does not stall. I wonder what the constant pressure on the idler and driven pulley and idler pulley bearings will do over the long haul. I think trenching for any edger in any other material but a sandy soil is asking too much. I will not use mine to edge beds as a string trimmer held vertically is faster and produces a cleaner edge. For the price and keeping the above in mind it is an okay purchase. I wish I could justify spending the money on a commercial unit.

Very hard to use due what seems to be a defect: The handle is almost perpendicular to the ground (see photo included with this review). Because the handle is almost straight up and down rather than at an angle, the only way to move it up even a slight incline is push the body with your leg while holding the handle. It is also difficult to control it going down the incline due the handle being vertical rather than at an angle. It works fine on a perfectly flat surface. Obviously, I am very unhappy with this piece of equipment. I will be returning it.

Box was a bit beat up and there was some cosmetic damage to the edger. Overall nothing to whine about but purchasing something brand new I kind of expect brand new. Set up was not according to the manual but I am handy so I was able to figure everything out. I read a lot of the reviews and decided on this anyway and I am glad I did. The edger worked beautifully. I set depth to halfway and it cut through everything easily. I went back for a second pass at full depth and again it worked great. I attempted the drop the one wheel for the curb but was unable to easily figure it out. Didn't have time or the inclination to figure it out I just ran it over the grass and it still worked awesome. I always always always stabilize my fuel so hopefully will not have any carburetor issues as some people have written about.

Purchased this edger on 5/30 and used it for the first time today. Started up right away and a made a nice edge along my walk. Went to another location and went to start it and the starter recoil assembly broke, from the screw hold down and the cord housing. Seems like a cheap grade of plastic and made me completely dissatisfied with the Cub Cadet brand. I will call them to see if they will send out a replacement part as trying to get to a dealer is out of the way

Great edger
I bought this edger about a month ago an love it, its a great machine that does a great job, plenty of power an starts right up every time. I use this on mine an my neighbors yard leaves a great edge every time with a clean look. I would recommend this edger to anyone looking for a one stop edger that does a great job.

Not worth the time or money
I took it out of the box, added the oil and gas. Started right up. About 10 minutes using it the belt broke. Had to drive 1 hour to get a replacement belt. Replacing the belt is no easy task. When I finally got it working again and edged my yard it struggled to do the job, and it did not make a nice clean cut.

Made my life easier!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this edger because I have approximately 300 feet of edging I was using a string trimmer to take care. Not only is it hard to keep the edge straight with a sting trimmer but when fatigue set in I ended up "eating the string up on the asphalt and concrete and my back and shoulder were aching. I will add this came in very handy because I just finished putting in 2500 feet of cable for an automower with this edger.
