I have had this machine for about 2 months and put 8 hours on it so far. I bought this because i wanted the "heavier" duty TuffTorq K58 transaxle. The jury is out if spending the extra money for that transaxle was worth it. I mow about an acre once a week with a few tricky spots where reversing is necessary. Mowing in reverse feature is annoying to remember, but works well. The transaxle is smooth and i was impressed with how easily it pulled a 48" dethatcher with 120lbs of cinder blocks on it. The big wheels are nice too for the extra flotation and reduced ground pressure.
The machine seems decent enough. The engine has a hard time restarting when hot and it suddenly died (like when you get off the seat without putting the parking brake on). A little choke helps it start up.
It has plenty of power and the quality of the cut is decent.
Overall I'm happy with it so far but the real test is if it will list 10+ years as a reliable mowing rig with routine maintenance

One full mow under my belt, and it worked remarkably well. The cut was beautifully even. It arrived this afternoon, and the truck brought it down to the drive near the front door. I had it uncrated in less than 20 minutes (drill with a nut driver works wonders). I connected the battery, put the front bumper on, checked the oil, and drove it off the skid in less than an hour. It is certainly heavy built, with heavy-duty belts. I connected the blue tooth, and then took her for a test drive.
It is certainly different from my Craftsman, not uncomfortable, just different. It is easier to get on and off of, with considerably more leg room ( I'm 6' 4"). I wanted to see what the lowest cutter setting would do, so I went to the circle of our circle drive and made a run through on the lowest setting (putter green length) It looked great The wife loved the look. I set it for 3" and did the rest of the lawn. It seemed to be shorter than 3", but certainly looked good. I think I'll use 3 1/2 or 4" next time. I tried the deck wash feature, and it seemed to work well, but from what I understand, you have to do it right after your mowing session, as once it dries, forget about it. I hope to get many years service out of this Kohler engine. Time will tell.
The old Craftsman is a 26hp Kohler Command, and is still going, which I plan to use back on the back acres in the rough country. I just rehabed the deck on it, so it's ready for some more abuse. I service them well, but work them hard. This 25hp 7000 series has had good reviews, so we'll see. It does have a lot of power. I plan on pushing snow with it next winter.

Excellent machine that cranked right up and cut 1.5 acres on the first go perfectly. It takes a little getting used to the immediate deceleration went you take your foot off the gas though. Cut great at full speed or at low speeds when turning. The deck assembly glided well across my uneven terrain with no scalping issues. I can’t wait to cut the grass again or to begin buying attachments.

After much research and looking into older John Deere and Cub Cadet models on Craigslist, I decided to purchase this Garden Tractor in July of 2016, so I have had it little over 1 year or almost 2 growing seasons.
This is my first time owning a piece of equipment like this as we moved to a rural 7 acres from a 1/4 acre subdivision lot where I used a self propelled Toro mower.
I have fields as well as a large front lawn with some being flat, some gently rolling and some very hilly.
While the primary purpose was to cut grass, I also wanted the option for snow removal of a large driveway and the potential for attachments due to having a large garden and pasture.
While I was hesitant to buy a Cub Cadet after using my father in law's which was about 10 years old and had numerous issues from the moment he bought it, I did some research and it seemed Cub Cadet had addressed many of those concerns with the newer lineup.
I was/ am impressed with the new clean/ even cutting deck design along with the tight smooth turning radius and the Kohler engine as well as other frame and chasis improvements for longevity.
I have towed a 48" plug aeration attachment across hilly fields and lawn while mowing and it has had no issues with the weight!.
While I had my fields brush hogged once last year due to the height before purchasing this tractor, I let it grow up to around waist height this spring and it did a great job on the 1st cutting- even churning thru tree saplings 18- 24" in height. The led lights are plenty bright when I have mowed in the dark and I am somewhat surprised at how much I can mow on 1 tank of gas.
The only issues I have had is that the belt was improperly installed when I received the tractor and it shredded within the first 100' of mowing and the tech had a hard time figuring out how to replace. The front wheel on the deck falls off occasionally due to the vibrations/ mowing, but is easily fixable. I would say that greater rear wheel tire tread would be appreciated for this model as it can easily spin on dry grass that may hit certain types of ruts or swales.
Overall a very good choice for those wanting something less than a full tractor, but more than a riding lawnmower!

LOOKED GOOD, NEVER STARTED IT. FOUND AN ISSUE WHERE THE LEFT FRONT TIRE WAS RUBBING AGAINST THE STEERING ARM. COULD HAVE HAD IT REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY, BUT DECIDED TO TAKE IT BACK SINCE IT WAS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT. HOME DEPOT WAS GOOD ABOUT RETURNING IT WITHIN 30 DAYS.

Well designed., Hood comes off for easy access to the engine. Fast. Cuts well and throws clippings from the mower deck a good distance. The seat springs could be stiffer. Easier to get on and off the mower than most other brands as there is no handle to get in the way on one side. The rear tires are larger than appear in online pictures but I did know they would be larger than the standard XT1 and that is what I wanted. This will help greatly with using for moving snow, loading onto a trailer, or just parking in the shed. The 50 inch deck is the perfect size. Not as large as the 54 inch so it fits in the shed better and doesn't catch on small bumps in the grass. My only complaint would be with the shipping. If I hadn't been calling, checking and stopping at the local shipping company office I'd still be waiting for my mower. Be warned if ordering a mower to be shipped to your home there may be difficulties. The mower was well packed in crate and did arrive undamaged at the shipping office. I'm not sure if I hadn't picked it up on a trailer how they were going to unload it from their delivery truck. Owned for approximately 2 weeks. Will update if there are any issues.

Mistake in purchasing this Cub Cadet
Purchased online & was delivered to my home in a big crate. (had it delivered because we are elderly & didn't have trailer transportation) Deck would not lower on left side. Difficult starting when cold. PTO drops load when I drive over a big bump. Did not come with mulch kit like most other mowers. Called & emailed Cub Cadet a few times before they authorized pick up & repair. It was at the dealer for almost 3 weeks for repair. Deck still hangs occasionally on left side, PTO still drops out with the slightest bump. I now have 34 hours of use on the mower that I paid almost $3,000 for including the mulching kit. By the way, I have tried everything I can think of to get the blades off so that I can install the mulching blades; Can't get the nut to removed so that I can install the mulching blades. Go figure
These factories/dealers need to realize most homeowners are not equipped with a big old impact tool..

Mower seems OK so far. Seat is horrible…too bouncy and slippery. Had to defeat the pressure switch in order to keep it from cutting off every time I went over a bump. And I weigh 180. Probably going to have to cover the seat with some kind of nonslip fabric, so I don’t slide off on tiny slopes. This is a “garden tractor”...so a heavier transmission than the usual riding mower, and I have used it to resurface parts of my gravel driveway with a small box blade. Added tractor lug tires and wheel weights for better traction and stability, without which it would not be able to use and ground-engaging attachments effectively.

OK mower so far. Gotta fix the seat.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Machine itself seems ok so far. Seat is horrible... slippery and bouncy. I weigh 180, and I had to defeat the pressure switch to keep it from constantly cutting off. Will have to cover it in some kind of fabric or something so I won’t fall off on tiny slopes..
