No. Just milk, sugar, cream, vanilla, a dash of salt and whatever flavoring/extras (chocolate chips, chocolate, strawberries, etc) you want. It is so easy and tastes so much better than store bought ice cream!

Can you use soy milk or almond milk and still produce an ice cream texture/ consistency?

Asked by Jason April 4, 2016
1
Answer

You may substitute lower fat creams (e.g., half and half), milk (reduced fat or lowfat) as well as non-dairy milks (soy, rice) for heavy cream and whole milk used in many recipes. However, keep in mind that the higher the fat content, the richer and creamier the result. Using lower fat substitutes may change the taste, consistency and texture of the dessert. When substituting, be sure to use the same volume of the substitute as you would have used of the original item. For example, if the recipe calls for two cups of cream, use a total of two cups of the substitute (such as 1 cup cream, 1 cup whole milk).

Is the freezer bowl aluminum? I don't want to prepare food in aluminum.

Answer

So easy to use to make delicious ice cream
Customer review from cuisinart.com logo
I have been utilizing the recipes that come with it and made chocolate, vanilla, strawberry and butter pecan ice cream so far. It is so easy to make ice cream that I no longer buy ice cream. The key to any kitchen device is to keep it handy so that you will actually use it. It takes me only 25 to 30 minutes to make ice cream and that includes the 15 to 20 minutes of auto-churning. So easy!

Ice cream maker
Customer review from cuisinart.com logo
Good ice cream maker you just have to freeze the container for at least 12 hours before use. This makes great ice cream but clean up can be a bit messy. Also wish it was just a bit bigger.

Cuisinart Ice Cream Freezer
Customer review from cuisinart.com logo
Very nice. Quite pleased. Love the wide top opening. I bought this to replace an ice cream freezer that no longer worked. I tried this new one it at home, once, then brought it to my son and daughter-in-laws home in Tennessee. We made cherry vanilla, for my now nine-year old’s birthday. I then made a mixture of cream, milk, sugar, vanilla and salt and refrigerated it. The next day the grandchildren and I prepared to make “Chocolate Lace and Cream” ice cream. I started the machine and excitedly said, “Now just pour it all in, Jimmy!” On, no! I forgot to place the freezing unit in! The liquid ran through the machine and ran all over the counter and floor. “I was wondering why you didn’t get the freezing bowl out of the freezer, Nana!” said the birthday boy. Warning. Don’t do this! I am buying another one for our home. Family has made 4 different ice cream flavors in the last week. Time for a diet!

This machine is so easy to use. I don’t like that you have to let it freeze overnight. But other than that, it’s awesome.

Great purchase! I've used it several times since purchase and it's so easy to use. Plus you get tasty homemade ice cream with ingredients you know how to pronounce. The manual comes with several recipes to get you started so I'm looking forward to trying out some new flavors soon.
