We were very disappointed with this grout. As for the texture, ease of use, and price, we were perfectly fine with it. This wasn't our first tiling project, so we knew how to properly mix the grout, how to apply it, and everything involved. But once we were done grouting the entire bathroom floor, and it was given time to dry, we realized that it was drying MUCH lighter than the color was supposed to be! Instead of Tobacco Brown (somewhere between milk chocolate and dark chocolate), we had a very light grout more like the Linen or Quartz color on the chart. Of course this was aggravating, too, because we had completed the project but it didn't match the LifeProof Autumn Wood tiles we'd paired it with, and now the project was delayed because we couldn't put sealer, baseboards, or furniture on the tile until the grout was the correct color! When washed, the grout would darken perfectly but briefly before it would dry back to the lighter color than Tobacco Brown is supposed to be. I had to get the Grout Renew (Tobacco Brown) and paint every single line of grout (a 5 hour project) on my hands and knees. If you look at the Grout Renew reviews, you'll see I'm not alone in having to do this to get the grout to be the proper color. Unfortunately, there aren't enough reviews for the grout itself to warn people that perhaps they'll get the color they think they will and perhaps they'll get much lighter. This also happened with our shower tile, and instead of Pewter, it was Platinum. Same family but a far lighter version.

I used this product in conjunction with the Montagna Harvestwood 36" planks set with a 1/16" grout line. BTW I also tried the sanded version in this color on a 1/8" line. Same negative experience with both. I was wary of the product before I began, but vowed that I would "do everything right" and avoid the mishaps of others. The grout is terribly blotchy and unevenly colored. I precisely weighed the product and mixed religiously according to instructions. I used RODI water at 70 degrees F to do so and mixed by hand. I tried to avoid excessive wiping to the point of crawling around and only wiping the tile and not the grout line with a damp microfiber cloth. After several failed attempts, I decided to apply grout in my closet and just let the crap dry for 6 hours before wiping with lightly damp sponge. Same results. I have worked hard to get this right and tried it several times with a few batches and 2 boxes of product. I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT. Unfortunately, there aren't many alternatives at the big box stores and dark grout seems to be a problem. I have laid 500ft of tile with this product and plan to go to a pro shop to find some alternative for my remaining 900ft. The only reason that I haven't completely gone mad from this grout is because it is camouflaged by the irregular color of my tile. If I had solid colored tiles, it would have killed me.

Do Not Consider this grout for dark colored tile.
This color grout was chosen based upon the tile sample in the store - when my 650 sq ft of tile was grouted using the polyblend non sanded tobacco brown, it dried white. Now how very disappointing to have that happen when you've been living on concrete for 3 months after the flood and you are anxious to get your house back together and now I'm going to spend time acid washing the grout after allowing the minerals to come to the surface - which takes 10 days - THEN stain the grout to its true color. REALLY? This product needs to be pulled from the shelf. When you invest in the materials and the labor involved - this should be a one time effort. The other option of achieving a true color is to remove the grout and use a high performance grout, fusion grout, or apoxy grout...which is a lot more expensive, but had I studied the reviews on this grout prior to the purchase, I would have at least considered the other more expensive choice. This choice of grout might be ok if you are shooting for a lighter color grout - as in alabaster - because it is the nature of the grout to leach minerals to the surface and look lighter in color. It is definitely not a choice for darker grout when you don't want the seams to show. I was trying to achieve a natural look - not a brick look. Sooo disappointed!

Great gr=out. Need a little bit larger sample color guide. After 3 trials taking it home, we found the right color. Went on great and wiped off great. Love our new back splash.
