Do I need to primer plywood before applying Redgard, and can I use liquid nails on the Redgard to install my tub surroun

No primer needed

Can I used it on aged and cracking composite deck?

I don't think so especially since this dries red. This is meant more for waterproofing, and preventing tiles from cracking. For example I used it to coat under where my tub would be placed in the bathroom as well as under the floor tiles

Can I glue acrylic shower walls over drywall waterproofed with RedGard ?

RedGard Waterproofing and Crack Prevention Membrane will have to be skim-coated with a polymer-modified thin-set mortar to separate the adhesive from the membrane. For further assistance please contact us at 1 800 282 8786 option 2.

I have 3/4 bucket left and applied 2 coats (bought 2 originally) already. Can i just keep applying the redguard until its all gone?

Follow the instructions on the container. At this point, if the first two coats are "cured" rather than just dry, the additional coats will simply increase the thickness. Have you considered donating the remainder to your local Habitat Restore or similar organization? A donation will help everyone and keep excess material out of landfills.

Can I apply this on top tile and then put another layer of tile on top of that?

It is never a good idea to put tile on tile. Do the hard work and remove the existing tile and mastic/thinset so you can evaluate the condition of the subfloor before you begin your new installation.

You can paint over Red guard. I don't know how well a black paint will hold up in a steam shower however. The red guard will be fine the paint on not sure. Possibly use an exterior grade paint.

I would like to tile the cement floor my lanai with glazed porceline tile. The cement is painted....

As long as the paint was applied properly and is well-adhered, there is no need to remove it, and you can apply the Redgard over it. If there is any question about the quality of the adhesion, then it would be better to remove the paint, as that will be the weak link, but if it is solid, then there is no need to disturb it.

I think this product is expensive, But even though the tile experts that taught me methods of redoing a bath surround, say that you do not need to waterproof the cement board they could not be more mistaken. besides the studs your cement board is placed upon, that should be plumb and even edged to each other, the cement board or backer board is the most important foundation of a bath tile redo. Most tile installers will only water proof the joints and corners if that. A $45.00 investment in Red Gard is well worth the cost, to give both a vapor barrier and a secondary containment so water cannot penetrate, if the tile, grout, or thin-set layers fail for any reason. Good insurance!, and can be used to water proof substrate below your vinyl plank floor in the bath, powder, laundry room, or kitchen areas.

I bought this Red Guard for a new bathroom floor. The product seems to be doing what it claims, but I would have expected to be able to waterproof more than 2 sheets of plywood for 55 bucks! I am a disabled person that isn't exactly what one would call "well-to-do", so I guess a Ulysses S. Grant ($50 bill) doesn't go ANYWHERE anymore. Seems if you want or NEED to buy anything of any significance anymore, you don't go out the door with less than a couple of grand in your pocket, or you're up the creek without a paddle. Even so, I'd buy it again, simply because there would be no alternative (for me personally) .
