A:Â That is not the way we do it. Â Red Guard needs multiple coats to achieve a proper water proof layer. Â Seams and screw heads are points of potential water penetration. Â Tile and mortar are NOT WATERPROOF. Â Use mesh tape or red guard fabric to help seal the seams and corners. Â The waterproofing on a shower need to bond the floor pan with the shower walls. Â We recommend a preformed shower pan that can be tiled. Â They can come water proof and sloped to give you confidence in the process. 3GBLLC of CharlestonÂ

why did I waste time and money for this
thought this would save me some money and labor by going this route for my tile flooring. Wasted a whole day prep and applied 5 buckets to find it all peeling in so many areas. Disappointed

Superb sealing - You get what you pay for!
Like Drylock, this stuff goes on heavy, and you want to put on two coats. It is definitely superior to Drylock, however.
If you are doing basement walls and floors, like me, remember to brush all the loose dust away first (with a broom). And you'll want to get a brush to fill in wider cracks, and/or deeper divots, that a paint roller just can't get into.
Expect that you will lose your paint roller, because this stuff seals up very tacky!
Also, the fumes are pretty intense. I recommend doing this when the weather is nice, and you can open up windows.

Worked perfectly. Applied to the bathroom plywood sub-floor in mobile home. Once product has dried (turns red and there is NO question is dry), we applied self stick tiles. Small gaps filled and there are no air pockets...perfect. We thought the product was too expensive. However, when purchased in the 3.5 gal size, the price was very comparable to most primers/sealers.
