Can I get any color samples sent to me?
Asked by: Richard
They sent me samples of all their colours! Just phone their customer service line at 1-866-463-2424 and ask. They didn't seem to mind at all, though if you're in the States, it will take a couple of weeks for the samples to come in the mail.

Considering using this product on kitchen formica counters. Decided to do a bathroom vanity first as a test. Easy enogh to install and happy with resu

lts. However, about a month later a plug-in air freshner leaked and disolved the new surface! Alsobeneath a near by bottle the surface also disolved. Assumed the freshener liquid got under the bottle. Damage was easily repaired. Just found another disolving circle under another bottle on the other side of then sink! Question - will this really hold up to hot pots, grease splatters, etc of a kitchen application. What can be done to make itmore durable?

I used this product in the kitchen. I always use potholders under the pans to protect the counter top. I have not had any issues with solvents but I have had some stains that don't come out, one was from beef gravy that spilled and didnt get cleaned up in time. Easy to install and i still love the look and the fact that we saved hundreds by doing it ourselves.

Will it be a smooth surface or will it feel grainy?

Asked by: Dede
If you sand it well, you can get a smooth finish. We used a orbital sander and 120 grit as well as a sanding block for edges corners.

I used 3 different grits of sand paper to get it as smooth as possible on the stone coat and the top coat. At that point, I thought it was too shiny so I put on 5 thin coats of a satin polyurethane by General Finishes which I hand sanded between each coat lightly with 340 grit paper. I just did not like the orange peel look because it took away from the finished look. For anyone interested I used 100, 120, and 240 grits on the stone coat and 120, 240, and 340 on the top coats with my orbital sander. I am not sure if you can really see the finish but I have inserted pictures.

I found it a little difficult to spread the 2nd stone coating well due to the viscosity of the product. compared to the video it seemed to be a lot thinner than in the video, but i still think it came out real nice. also added extra smooth sheen and protection with an enviro tech epoxy stuff. something that maybe this kit could work on for the future!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buy this! Your result depends on your prep work. Watch the video and do what they say. For prep I sanded with the provided sandpaper and followed the video to the letter. This included using wall spakle to fill in crevices etc. I used this product on a cultured marble two sink vanity. I removed faucets as I was going to replace them. Yes-I used this product on the integral sinks. The manufacturers website says you can. The written instructions say you may use a power sander-I did to sand after each mineral coat. The results are stunning. I will be using this in my other bath and kitchen. I do not think this looks like granite at all. It looks remarkably like quartz. The natural white is a winter white-not brite white.

The dark granite in our place has never been my taste. I took a plunge and tried the spreadstone. Please be advised Daich does NOT officially recommend this on granite since there's not a lot of feedback. But I took a chance- I used the grittiest sandpaper I could find and scuffed up counter, then I did a thin coat of high-adhesion primer (stix) after 24 hours (make sure your primer passes a fingernail scratch test- if it does not I would not move ahead) I used the kit as directed. I LOVE the results - We sanded for an ultra-smooth finish and it is durable and beautiful!

Very, very pleased with this product and the customer service (I had a quick question when I was putting on the base coat.) Agree with all comments that this is NOT a bright white finish, but I knew that going in after reading the other reviews. I would prefer a more matte finish for the clear coat, but it's not as shiny as I would have thought based on other reviews. I thought the video and the instructions were clear and helpful. I had plenty of product with one kit to cover about 40 SF of surface, with some left over. Might have gone light on the first stone coat, so I really laid it on the second time. Just finished it last week, so durability is still in question, but it seems rock solid. I waited to put the clear coat on while I did some backsplash work and the stone surface was undeterred by me dropping a few things on it and laying on it while I wrestled with the backsplash panels. I used a palm sander after the stone coat to expose the flecks and smooth it out. It's a great improvement over the scratched up white laminate that was there and was pretty simple to install. Other tips: I pulled up the tape after each step like a few people recommended and I think that was a very good suggestion. I also had to apply a third coat of the stone product at an old seam that was showing through after I sanded, but it came out fine.

Our client was on a tight budget for their kitchen remodel so we agreed to try this product. Our coverage area was just around the maximum square footage so we bought 2 kits. We watched the video online twice and read all the instructions and began the application process. It was quite easy. The counters looked great. Then after 24 hours, I noticed some popping and failure to adhere. The entire thing failed to adhere to the substrate, which is laminate. It peeled off. Since this was our last day on site, we had to scramble to find pre-made counters to install. So, we ended up eating the cost of the product $200, the time to apply it, then the labor to remove the now unusable counters, and the cost of the premade counters plus the labor to install them. Our $200 attempt to save some money ended up costing us over $700 that we will not pass on to our client. We applied this to 3 counters all at the same time. The 2 small sections performed well, but the large counter had the peeling. There was no difference in application technique or sanding prep. There was no difference in boxes. It was just it did not adhere. Just a major product failure. The photo below is just part of the fail.

You really need to make sure you fix all the flaws of the counter top before you apply this. Every seam will show through. I would recommend getting more sand paper and spending more time repairing/sanding before starting to apply. Overall, the application is super easy. Sanding before you apply the final coat is huge. It creates a smooth, streak free surface. I had some issues around the sink after pulling off the tape but repairs are pretty simple to fix that. The final product looks like a fancy stone finish and it's very nice. I would absolutely recommend this for a quick kitchen counter update. It makes a huge difference!

An excellent alternative to replacing my 45 year old Formica counter tops.Went on just like in the videos.Looks great, everyone that sees it loves it and can't believe they aren't new counters.I did about 30 square feet of counter and there was plenty of material in the kit and lots left over.Only 2 little downsides, the 2 small pieces of sandpaper provided are not nearly enough.I needed about 2 additional sheets of each grit.It really makes a ton of dust during the sanding phase.I would not hesitate to use it again or to recommend using this kit.
