Q:Sunce it is on the floor of the shower, how does it stay in place and not become a slipping hazard?

Answer This Question
A:Â I've used it successfully in a shower in which the drain is off to the side. If concerned about slipping, you can attach with a waterproof adhesive.
by|Oct 21, 2020
A:Â It has a rubber edge on the bottom that helps it to stay put. It is moveable, if you want it to move, but for the most part, it just stays put. We have had this in our home for 5 years & never had a "slip" problem.

A:Â Thank you for contacting Danco. Many people use a waterproof adhesive like Danco model # 80360 to seal the shower strainer to the shower drain.

Works well. Very pleased.
Works very well. Nice solid piece that stays in place. I didn’t realize how much hair was going down the drain until we started using this, which catches lots.

Works great and does exactly what we wanted it to do by stopping 99.9% of hair and misc fuzz from going down the shower drain. We have a grouted tile floor and even though it doesn't seal tightly to the floor it still does not move around from the flow of the water alone nor let debris flow underneath. Well worth the price.

I bought this item to cover up unsightly rust stains which kept appearing from the iron piping and shown around the grout. The alternative would have been to replace the drain - a major chore. This item worked great, but only after some modification: I removed some of the rubber ring on the underside, in the area of the water flow, so that the shower would completely drain. Otherwise the water would only drain down to the height of the metal strainer which is convex. I also chose to use an adhesive to mount the strainer to the floor. The finished job looks great and works well.

This is a great product at a great price. I've purchased a similar product from a major home goods manufacturer, and this one not only looks just as good, it actually works better. First and most important, it actually catches hair without causing water to back up in the slightest. But secondly, the very wide rubber rim helps keep it in place better than competing models.
Just one thing to keep in mind - this is only for shower stall drains, not bathtubs, as the strainer will not fit over a pop-up drain, and likely wouldn't form a good seal around a bathtub drain even if you took out the pop-up drain.

This shower strainer is attractive and handy and helps to prevent unwanted items from going down a shower drain such as hair and small bars of bath soap, etc.. This strainer is easy to install by simply placing it over the center of a shower drain opening and also easy to remove for cleaning.
This shower strainer is sturdy and is made from 0.050" thick stainless steel that has hundreds of 0.107" [2.7 mm] diameter holes for drainage and that won't rust. The edges of this strainer are covered by a seamless gray rubber gasket to help prevent the strainer from sliding or shifting and also to prevent scratching the bottom surface of a shower.
I prefer to completely use bars of bath soap and this shower strainer helps to prevent from losing a bath soap bar down an open drain after accidentally dropping bar soap that has gotten small enough to fit down a drain opening.
Recommend for easy cleaning to remove any debris that get trapped by this strainer and rinsing off any soap, shampoo, conditioner, etc. from the strainer after each use.

The shower drains in our house receive their share of hair as there are six of us using them and three are women with long hair. It is a constant battle keeping that hair from going down the drain and eventually clogging it. Our showers have built in drain strainers but inevitably, the strainer isn’t cleaned off each time and some of that hair is whisked away down the drains. Having a second, larger, removable strainer seems like a good idea so I used this as well.
I was a bit worried the stainless steel might scratch the tub surface but found the the outer 1/2 inch that actually does touch the tub surface is a rubber/silicone, semi-rigid material that doesn’t scratch. This also helps to keep the strainer from moving around. Now when my young son who also takes baths in one of those tubs gets his hands on it, it is BOUND to move. But this will also double as a toy for him to play with; two uses for the price of one! The picture associated with this review shows the size of the rubber/silicone around the strainer, which is approximately 3/4 inch wide.
UPDATE - my son took his first bath with this strainer in place and my hunch proved true :)

This is definitely for the larger shower drain. It fits in the drain hole nicely. However, there are no screws to hold it down. You just lay it on top. I was hoping to screw it down. I wouldn't want to slip on this and injury myself. It's a clean and simple look. Nothing out of the ordinary. I would definitely use it for my shower but would like to see some screws.
