Will this work if I don't have a stopper? It came out and won't stay up anymore. I just need something to fill the hole (1.5" wide) and let water through

    Answer This Question

Yes, it will work with the stopper removed. However, the stopper helps keep it in place. The product description states it "fits most standard sink pop-up stoppers up to 1-1/2 in." which matches the size of the hole you mentioned. While designed to attach to a stopper with a suction cup, several users have confirmed its functionality without one, although it might not stay as securely in place.

Thank you for your interest in Danco products and for your inquiry. Danco model number 10769 should be able to work if there is not a pop up stopper in the sink. Danco model number 88820 may work better for your application.

I don't think so. This hair catcher has a little suction cup that attaches to the top of the stopper.

Yes, I don't have a pop-up stopper and it works for me.

Not really. It works by a suction cup that attaches to the stopper. If the stopper is removed it wont have anything to grip to. However it may still stay in place.

are these too small for a tub's pop-up drain stopper? if so, can you recommend another brand/item that would be suitable? the convex basket-like hair catchers these resemble can be pushed aside by water and thus rendered ineffective, looking for something with some grip. thanks

i think that it depends on your tub drain. if it has a cover and it's small enough with a flat'ish surface on top then this will prob work. if it has a cover and a nub with a flat'ish surface on top then item number 312959023 will prob work.

Great little gadget!!! Works like a charm!! Got one for the tub as well.

I wouldn’t know a replacement for a tub but these are defiantly too small for anything but a sink

                By|May 5, 2023

I don't think it'll work for the tub drain as this hair catcher has a little suction cup that attaches firmly to the top of the stopper and fits stoppers up to an inch and a half in diameter. Home Depot carries several Danco hair catchers for the tub, like this one: https://www.homedepot.com/p/DANCO-Hair-Catcher-Bathroom-Tub-Strainer-10306/202732017

Thank you for your interest in Danco products and for your inquiry. The 10769 Bathroom Sink Hair Catcher in White 2-Pack, does not come in a Tub Shower application at this current time. We would recommend using the Danco 10772 2- in -1 Bathtub Hair Catcher and Stopper for your application.

This is a wonderful hair catcher that fits perfectly over the drain stopper in our sink with a little suction cup right on top of it. Our sink clogs frequently; we tried another brand of hair catcher but it just didn't work. It was bulky, I didn't like the color, and cleaning was a huge hassle; besides, we had to remove the stopper in order to use it. Enter Danco Bathroom Sink Hair Catcher. It works flawlessly, catches both the long and short hair, just like it should. Made of silicone, it is lightweight that translates into ease of use. With this product, we don't have to remove the stopper, and cleaning is a cinch; just undo the suction cup, wipe away the hair and back it goes in its dedicated spot over the stopper. Its white color blends nicely with the sink, and it looks like it belongs there. I highly recommend this hair catcher to anyone who wants to keep hair out of the drain, and do this in style.

This is an interesting product, well worth considering. Yes, we all have the hair catchers that works in the bathtub, but here is a product for your bathroom sink that does the same thing. If you or your spouse has long hair and is brushing and combing the hair in front of the sink with the mirror above it. Most of the time with bathroom sinks, it starts to clog also from hair mainly too that actually gets caught right about where inside the drain pipe where that sink stopper pop up ball rod is and not really at that trap bend that TV commercials portray. So this product will help reduce hair going down the sink and get caught there in a slow draining sink. You get two in the package which is great. They are well made, very pliable and flexible rubberized plastic. Yes, made in China. It has that suction cup on the back end that will be pressed onto your existing sink stopper. So its very easy to install and remove for cleaning off the hairs that it traps. Instructions are on the backside of the card packaging. See pics. See the pics. It does look very nice and time will tell as it goes thru use how durable it will be. I am confident it will be and you also have two in a package too. Personally, It does once install, look sort of like reminds one of a urinal appearance (men would know what I am saying), but otherwise it fits well, looks great in the sink and will reduce the clogging from hairs going down the sink. Great idea, great product.

The only thing that I did not like about this product that even though the package indicated that it was a "2 Pack" there was only one piece inside the blister pack. I did call the company and informed them about it. I liked that there is a small suction cup on the inner side to help keep it in place. It is flexible and should be easy to remove and clean before replacing it. Overall it should catch all falling hair in the sink avoiding clogging of the drain pipe. If you have a problem of sink clogging with hair, you will benefit by using this product.

Not sure what to say as for some reason I couldn't get the suction cup to work and fasten to the pop-up drain in my bathroom sink. So then I thought....what if I use it on my tub showers. They do not have drain covers and of course hair is going down too often. So, I flipped over the Danco hair catcher and it is sitting in place and doing a good job of catching hair. I just clean and replace it as needed.

Drain clogs are something no one wants to deal with. I was very pleased when I thought this product would work. Our bathtub has a built in drain that is not flat, so this product will not work for us. However, it would work if you have a standard pop-up drain. You would place the hair catcher over the stopper and press down to engage the suction cup. To clean, remove hair catcher and wipe.

So far i have had it a week and it works well. It does what it's supposed to do and catch hair. It is small and flimsy feeling, a thin silicone i think. You take it out the packet and push down on the plug with this over it and your done. It blends in with the sinks color. I think it could have been a little bigger and i would have given it 5 stars. Will it last long? I don't know but then again there are 2 in the packet.

Hair catcher was easy to suction cup to the drain and has been able to stay attached wether the drain is opened or closed. It forms a fairly good seal against the bottom of the sink and has kept out nearly all hair that has fallen into it. My test was giving my Beagle a bath then washing my hands in the sink. It caught nearly all of the hair. Much better than other products out there. As this was not designed for showers i will not say this is something negative but i wish it could also work in my shower drain.

A surprisingly effective bathroom gadget. I and my wife plus four daughters are staying with aging parents and their tub is older without a plunger. We got these and installed one upside down in the tub drain and the other right side up in the bathroom sink. They both work perfectly - capturing hair before it goes down the drain. You do have to remove the hair often or the clog in the gadget will all but stop the flow of water - but I see that as just another testament to how well this very inexpensive and convenient solution works. We've been using it for about 2 weeks now and it's, dare I say, idiot proof.
