        Answer This Question

Look at the Danco Model # 86968. It has parts you don't need and costs a bit more but if you are in a hurry you should be able to use the short seats and short springs in this set.

        By|May 5, 2023

Thank you for contacting Danco. There are two different types of seats and springs for most Delta faucets. If you are looking for both than model # 86968 would be perfect for you.

If your Delta faucet or shower leaks from the spout or showerhead then you probably need new seats and springs. Springs become weak over the years and the rubber seat can degrade but that is actually less often the problem. If you have not done this DIY job then you should see a video online that shows a faucet or shower valve similar to yours. It's a pretty easy job. The seat and spring seem like they are made to last for years but it is hard to tell just by looking at them. The price is certainly reasonable making this a low-cost repair. (BTW, if you are the original owner of a Delta faucet you can contact them for replacement parts.) The lone picture I provided shows the seat and spring separately and the seat slipped over the narrow end of the spring ready to be installed. These parts fixed my drip from the spout so that I am no longer wasting water so that is the real test of this product.

A pair of springs and washers to fix that drip. Work as intended, and I'll give you a couple of hints to install. These parts are small; cover / block the drain before you remove the old ones. I'd hate to drop a small Allen screw down the drain. Refer to your specific models manual on how to remove the handle and get at the valve assembly. Obviously shut off the water supplies, hot & cold then open a 'lower' faucet to drain a bit. Pulling the old ones out, a bent paper clip may help. Installing the new ones, (pay close attention to the direction of the springs) a thin shaft screwdriver helps if you put them on the shaft and then guide them into place. I'd also recommend getting a small container of silicone grease, it makes the shower valve very smooth. This grease is in a very small container, and about the cost of the washers. Just coat the surfaces, don't fill gaps. I use it on every valve stem, washer replacement task. That small container will lasts for years and works fantastically.

I have had Delta one-handle tub faucets for 30 years, the same ones, original, installed when I built my house. I keep these seats and springs on my shelf at all times. Every so often the rubber rings wear out as expected and will cause a leak, but no big deal. I am a 65 year old female and I can easily take apart the handle, remove the old seats and springs and pop new ones in. These are good quality. I always buy them at Home Depot too! The Danco brand is comparable to the Delta ones and work just as well.

I called the manufacturer to get these under the warranty. Once I recieved them I went to Home depot web and order two sets to keep on hand for a quick fix on a leaky faucet. The hard water here is tough on seals. Replacements are OEM and fit prefect and work great.

Perfect little springs and seals solved my leaking issue. I also changed the cartridges.
