Awesome product!
I bought this to seal gaps in my solar light figures. now I use it for a gap filler on a box that I made it works great. I definitely recommend if you need something that sets quickly and dries quickly and cures in 24 hours

Based on your commentary indicating: "product has cracked overnight", it would likely indicate that application site was subject to movement/instability prior to the product reaching full performance and/or that insufficient amount product was applied to the joint. Joints that are prone to experience significant expansion/contraction forces may require higher performance products, such as DAP DYNAFLEX 230 or DAP EXTREME STRETCH, these types of more specialized elastomeric joint sealants offer several times the amount of flexibility offered by DAP ALEX FAST DRY. Because you did not provide any project details, it is difficult to provide a more detailed response in this format. WARNING: DRASTIC PRODUCT FAIL OF DAP CAULK
It degraded after the first heavy October rainfall! Purchased in 2021 and opened in August of 2022 for use on an exterior project, a 1/8” to 1/4" depth was placed over foam backer material in 7/8” diameter counter bored holes to protect lag bolt heads. The caulk was installed in sections over a period of 2 months, providing up to 7 weeks curing time. After removal, the bits of degraded DAP caulk had the consistency of crumbling Play-Doh. I’m not sure if it was a bad lot (number 121132A).

Thank you for posting your feedback on DAP ALEX FAST DRY Acrylic Latex Caulk Plus Silicone. Based on your commentary, the product was not used in a manner that was consistent with its usage guidance. ALEX FAST DRY is designed to be applied in "bead" form, not into "holes" as a repair filler. As indicated on the product package label and supporting product literature: "Not for continuous underwater use, filling butt joints, surface defects, tuck-pointing or expansion joints." and "Joint size should not exceed 3/8" wide x 3/8" deep. If joint depth exceeds 3/8", use backer rod material." The use of this product, in the manner as you described, would not be recommended. Of additional note, based on the "lot (number 121132A)" that you provided, this product would have been several months beyond its shelf life at the time of application. Messy and still cracks
My biggest complaint is that it shrinks too much and the cracks come thru again, even after caulking 3x on 3 seperate days. Also continues to squirt out of the tube when you stop squeezing the handle. Messy and not effective.

This product is considered fully dried within a few days of application (depending on the joint size, temperature and humidity). After the product has gone through this drying phase, additional shrinkage/volume loss does not continue. The "shrinkage" that you are referring to is not likely an artifact of the sealant's internal performance, rather, it is the result of the movement of the surrounding substrate materials. For applications where significant joint movement is expected, we would recommend the use of DAP DYNAFLEX ULTRA or DAP EXTREME STRETCH. It comes off
I am disappointed in this caulk. I cleaned the surface hours before, put it on, let it dry up for several days, and when I’m ripping the tape off it comes off on the edges. This means the ceiling paint will rip off too when I’m taping it.
I’ve never experienced this before.

The issue that you describe, regarding your use of masking tape, is not related to a product performance issue, rather it is as a result of the application technique employed. When using masking tape, the tape should be removed immediately after tooling and prior to the applied sealant skinning over (surface drying or drying through). If you wait until after the sealant has skinned over or dried through to remove the tape, you may pull up the sealant with it (as the tape typically becomes embedded under the applied sealant). My go to caulking to close up gaps!
Very easy to apply and I generally use this caulking to close up gaps no more then 1/8 wide. I recently learned the secret to having clean caulking lines and it’s to go over the initial caulking bead with a wet finger and then using a wet sponge to clean up the line. This caulking is paintable after it dries.

Poor choice
I sealed the relief joints of a pool deck with foam backer rods and this caulk. A day later I painted the sealant with paint to match the deck. After a week the sealant shrank and rain has eroded the sealant staining adjacent areas with white residue. It is a mess.

DAP ALEX FAST DRY is a general-purpose trim sealant, is not designed, tested, labeled or recommended for use on "traffic surfaces" (general flooring, sidewalks, driveways, patios or pool decks). Traffic surface applications require the use of more specialized products, such as DAP Premium Polyurethane Adhesive Sealant or DAP 3.0 High Performance Self-Leveling Concrete Sealant.
