A: Thank you for posting your inquiry. Currently, the only repair filler that DAP recommends for this application is DAP Platinum Patch. Of note, repairs on some brands of fiber cement siding products require the use of dry-mix portland cement-based patching compounds (to meet warranty requirements). Unfortunately, DAP does not offer such a product. Should you have additional questions or require further assistance, please feel free to contact DAP Technical Customer Service at 888-327-8477.
A: Thank you for posting your inquiry on DAP ALEX PLUS Spackling. DAP ALEX PLUS Spackling is formulated to be a thick, creamy “paste-like” consistency. This product is specifically designed for repairing cracks, dents, dings, holes and similar minor cosmetic defects. The texture/consistency of this product does not lend itself to large format spreading, as is the case for thinner/more fluid "joint compounds". As indicating on the product package label and supporting product literature: "DO NOT USE AS A SKIM COAT." For thin/large surface area format repairs we would recommend the use of product such as DAP Premium Lightweight Joint Compound. At your convenience, please contact DAP’s Technical Customer Service Department at 888-327-8477 so that we can obtain some additional information from you regarding your project and to discuss other product options more in line with your requirements.
A: Not sure the area you need, if you did that you would have to be very talented to get it all level and flat. I’ve used it and it’s very fast drying and easy to work with. My suggestion would be to get the small one and and try a corner area. If you find its not what you expected you could wash it off before it dries. I’ve used it before painting to smooth and cover imperfections before painting but nothing like a whole wall area at once. Good luck!
A: It can if you make sure to prime the paneling first with a good primer like kilz.

A: It is actually pink before drying. It turns white after drying. Very helpful!
A: Thank you for posting your feedback. We are not clear as to your inquiry, as you appear to be posting a question regarding a DryDex color changing formula, under DAP ALEX PLUS Spackling (a non-color changing formula which are very different products/formulas). The various DryDex formulas are acrylic-latex (water-based), their sole drying mechanism is the evaporation of water. Dry time can be significantly impacted by cool or humid application conditions, moisture in the application surfaces or by thick (deep) applications of the patch. These formulas cannot fully turn from pink to white, until all of the water contained within them has evaporated. Under certain conditions, it is possible to see a color change (from pink to white) on the top surface of deep applications, however, the deeper application areas may not be fully dried. Under these conditions, all that is required is some additional dry time. Without more details about your application conditions and project specifics, it is difficult to provide a more detailed reply in this format. At your convenience, please contact DAP’s Technical Customer Service Department at 888-327-8477 so that we can obtain some additional information from you, when calling in, please have the product package available, as we will need to identify the product's item number (UPC number) as we would like to confirm that you are posting your inquiry on the correct product/product page.
A: Ignore my previous response. I was referring to DAP DryDex that goes on pink, then dries white.
A: If it’s still pink, it’s not completely dry yet.
