Q:can this be used to attach pvc panels to painted drywall, 24inch x 60 inch

      Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for posting your inquiry on DAP DYNAGRIP Heavy Duty Construction Adhesive. As indicated on the product package label and supporting product literature: "Not Recommended For: Bonding two nonporous materials". DAP does not recommend the use of acrylic-latex (water-based) adhesives for use between two nonporous materials, as this type of assembly will not permit these types of formulas to dry/bond properly. At your convenience, please contact DAP’s Technical Customer Service Department at 888-327-8477 so that we can obtain some additional information from you about your experience and to discuss alternate product options.

        Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for posting your inquiry. DAP does not recommend the use of acrylic-latex (water-based) adhesives between two nonporous materials, as the materials used in that type of assembly will not permit these type of formulas to dry properly. As indicated on the product package label guidance as well as supporting product literature: "Not for use between two non-porous surfaces". This type of application requires a more specialized construction adhesive such as DynaGrip Heavy Duty Max Construction Adhesive. SUMMARY: A good adhesive for construction use. I have used several different construction adhesives since they first hit the market and I’m always looking for the next amazing one. The chance to evaluate the DAP DYNAGRIP was too good to pass up. The adhesive seemed a little thinner than other brands and had less odor (VOC compliant.) I made a test miter glue-up on cabinet grade plywood and then made several attachment glue-ups of my toughest adhesive test, rare-earth magnets on writing and markup tools. (Rare-earth magnets have defeated every other adhesive except one.) After 24 hours set and cure time I tested the cabinet glue-up. I was impressed that the 5-inch miter joint held my entire 200+ pound weight. The adhesive failed to bond to the rare-earth magnets. Although the adhesive set all around the magnets, its inability to adhere to the plated covering allowed a test magnet to be pulled away. My actual magnets are much stronger than the small test pieces I used, so I know it would not work in actual use. NOTE: DYNAGRIP IS NOT RECOMMENDED for bonding non-porous materials. As such, the magnet test is not a failure of the adhesive to perform to advertised capability. It bonded the plywood far beyond any expectation. SUMMARY: A good construction adhesive when used for advertised purposes. PROS: Easy to apply, low VOC odor, bonds well.

I thought I would try this construction adhesive on some cement block repair. I have a retaining wall at my cottage that needed some repair. It had become loosened from it's top corner location and was disintegrating. So I cleaned it up and removed dirt and loosened debris. Then I applied the construction adhesive on all the contact areas and then set the block back in place. I waited about an hour. It seemed to be solidly in place. I finished the repair with some hydraulic cement. Not perfect, but it's secured back in place.

I ordered this DAP DynaGrip heavy duty construction adhesive to re-attach a 4' piece of corner wood moulding in my living room. I had used white & yellow wood glue years ago, but it has kept falling off when bumped. One side of the wall has a vinyl wallpaper the other side is painted plaster. I wanted something that I would not have to shoot nails to hold it up as it's a nicely turned piece. I used blue tape to keep the moulding in place while the adhesive dried. I waited 12 hours before removing the tape & it seems to be holding just fine. A few things to know: 1. Application temperature is 40-100 deg. 2. Service temp is 0-120deg 3. Shelf life is 18 months 4. Cure time is 7 days 5. One surface needs to be porous 6. Not to be used for wet locations 7. Water cleanup before curing, after curing, cut or scrape away. 8. Doesn't flow out of the tube as easy as other brands of adhesive

          Another great product from DAP!
When you need to glue wood or vinyl siding or almost anything to a vertical position you need Dap Strong Stick. - It has fantastic "sticktuitivenes"...very strong adhesion. - It sticks "immediately" - There is no "waiting" for Dap to set up and hold the vinyl. - It is "water washable" within three hours of set up time. - I have tried several adhesives including Liquid Nails and this is the best I have ever seen or used. It is user friendly and gives you time to clean up the excessive glue. I have also used to put a threshold strip down and a cracked ceramic tile. I am keeping an extra tube on hand at all times.

            So many better alternatives
This product is just...not good. I have worked with many different types and this one does not flow well, stick well, or cure quickly. It also costs more than the PL375 which is a far superior product. I have almost given up on DAP.

              This is not Adhesive
Worst glue or adhesive I have ever tried. Has zero bonding strength. I used it to glue 2 pieces of wood together and clamped the repair for 24 hours. When I took off the clamp the pieces literally fell apart. Overpriced JUNK.

Stronger than a 2x4. I didn't want to drill into my garage floor, so I used this adhesive to secure a 2x4 at the point where I wanted to stop my car when I pull in. When I switched cars recently I had to move the 2x4, so I used a small sledge to break it loose. The 2x4 did not survive the move and I had to use a new board, not to mention chiseling the old adhesive off. If you want it to stay stuck, use this.
