Q:Can this product seal seems in a galvanized steel bucket which is exposed to standing water at 180 degrees Fahrenheit from a steam boiler. It is not used for drinking water. If not, which product do you recommend that has easy clean?

Not for a shower drain
Like other reviews, I used this "100% waterproof" "bath/plumbing" "sealant" to seal a drain. After 2 weeks, it failed and ruined the space below.
Completely turned to mud, but don't worry... its 100% waterproof... and def made for bath/plumbing... (DAP, if you miss it, that's sarcasm). This junk is terrible. Remove the label "not for continuous underwater use" because taking a bath is not continuous underwater. Do not even reply with that nonsense. 100% waterproof my a...

As this is an acrylic-latex (water-based) formula, the sole drying mechanism is the evaporation of water. Use of the product as you describe would be considered an entrapped application. Application in an entrapped condition (between surfaces/materials that do not permit water to evaporate) are especially difficult for these products to perform in, as there is no way for the water in the product to escape, thereby preventing it from properly drying. When installing threaded drain assemblies, the use of a plumber's putty is typically recommended. Worked great
and looks great... Because you really can't see it. lol I had my tile guy use this on the bottom of my backsplash behind my sink to protect from water. It looks great and woll protect for many years

Cracked almost immediately
Cleaned and dried my shower. Let it dry another 24 hours and applied the caulk around the bottom. Left for 48 hours to cure and within a day of using it was cracked in several spots.

I needed a lasting fix for my shower floor where...
I needed a lasting fix for my shower floor where they meet the wall tiles. No grout lasted longer than a year and would constantly crack and allow the water to go behind it. I researched the Dap kwik Seal Ultra and decided to give it a try. It completely fixed my cracking issue. I etched out the broken grout and allowed the shower to dry for 24 hours. I then applied a 3/8 bead of Kwik Seal around the shower and allowed it to cure for 48 hours (my preference). The fully cured product sealed it perfectly and I believe it will allow for the slight movement of the sidewalls that enabled the grout to crack. This caulk is very easy to apply and smooth etc. The only minor issue with it is the color is a little more white than bisque, nut that does not bother me or the wife at all. The product does what it is designed to do.

Be careful where you use it.
I tried to use this product to seal a shower drain and it is useless. Even though it states that it is 100% waterproof with prolonged exposure to water it continues to dissolve. The area in the attached picture was 100% flush and after 2 weeks has started to wash away.

As indicated on the product package label and supporting product literature: “Not for continuous underwater use”, likewise, applications subject to standing/ponding water are not recommended. Of note, the drain assembly depicted in your photograph does not appear to require the use of a sealant, as the application of sealant between the edge of the drain plate and base does not serve to make a watertight seal. Not real easy to work with as it seemed a...
Not real easy to work with as it seemed a bit too “creamy”. It had a few air bubbles when applying so when trying to smooth out it liked to spread out. Other than the softer consistency compared to caulk, it dried well and looks great. Seems to be a tough skin that should be flexible between the two different materials.

Lasted a month before it started separating
I applied this twice thinking I might’ve made a mistake the first time. Both times after a month or so the caulk would start to separate from the tile or the tub itself. I had also sealed a seam in the shower and that was peeling as well. I don’t know if this was a bad batch or what the problem is, but I do not recommend it at all. I contacted the manufacturer, but I have not heard back from them.

Based on your commentary, it would appear to signal that there may be some concerns with the application site, such as instability in the surfaces that were being filled. Likewise, loss of adhesion to the substrate (often described as “peeling”) can also indicate that there may be a bond-breaker on the existing surface (silicone sealant or its residue). As is the case for this and all similar non-silicone-based formulas, it is not recommended for application to an existing application of silicone or where silicone residue may be present. Because silicone and its residue are classified as a "bond breaker" (a surface that is too slick to permit proper bond formation), proper adhesion/performance would not be expected. Normal cleaning and surface preparation methods are not likely adequate to address this condition. At your convenience, please contact DAP’s Technical Customer Service Department at 888-327-8477 so that we can obtain some additional information from you and to provide you with guidance on how to best proceed.

Fixed 2"x4" hole in porcelean sink
Droped heavy object into bath sink and puched a hole in it. used Kwik Seal to perform tempory fix. Fix was so good I may just leave it

As is the case with all water-based (acrylic-latex) sealants, volume loss will occur as the product dries (evaporation of its water content), this is normal characteristic for this type of formula. Totally disappointed
The cap was missing so I had to return to the store. When I used the product the tube developed a big leak at the opposite end of the tube. It wasted more than half of the tube and it created a huge mess. I contacted DAP for a refund. I was told that they would send a refund, but I am still waiting.
