How do I open this tube? I can’t get the white inner tube out of the white cap. Please help.

Asked by Kymmie May 10, 2021

Answer

Thank you for posting your inquiry. As indicated on the product package label and supporting product literature: "If using squeeze tube, remove cap (clear protective cap) & cut nozzle at 45º angle to desired bead size. Unscrew nozzle (white plastic application tip) & remove foil seal (bonded to the threaded squeeze tube). Replace nozzle." If the white plastic application tip is "stuck" inside of the clear protective cap, you can use a pair of small pliers (preferably needle-nose) to grip the end of the white plastic application tip, then unscrew the clear protective cap, then proceed to follow the directions for use. Should you have additional questions or require further assistance, please feel free to contact DAP Technical Customer Service at 888-327-8477. Since you have posted this same question on multiple product pages, we have replied to those with the same response.

No, I would not use it for potable (drinking water) contact because it has chemicals for mold and mildew resistance.

Hi Rouster, That is a lot of weight for sure. Personally, if it were me in your shoes, I would go with the GE Silicone II product sold at Home Depot. It is rated for exterior use, however, it is far stronger than anything I've seen for tough interior applications. Sounds like you need mechanical fasteners for sure and then the GE Silicone II to handle the water leakage issues.

Can I use on glass?

Answer

Thank you for posting your inquiry. For minor auto glass sealing applications, we would recommend the use of DAP Auto/Marine 100% RTV Silicone Sealant. Should you have any additional questions or require further assistance, please contact DAP’s Technical Customer Service Department at 888-327-8477.

Is this safe to use on Carrara Marble counter tops?

Asked by Brian January 27, 2021
2
Answers

Brian, Yes, it is safe, but remember Carrara Marble is natures material/stone and is very prose and will absorb moisture and will show discoloration until the moisture evaporates typically in 24-48 hours. Anytime moisture is in contact with marble it will show darkness in coloration, but will go away. Have a great day and enjoy your DIY project

Does this dry wet looking (shiny) or matt?

Thank you for posting your inquiry. As a general rule, higher performance sealants (such as 100% Silicone) will exhibit a gloss ("shiny") finish. I needed some silicone to seal a new drop-in bathroom sink to the counter as well as fix a leak in the corner of our shower door. This tube was a little more expensive than some of the others available in the store but on the recommendation of an associate I purchased this. I was not disappointed. This silicone works great. It is easy to spread and sets up within about half an hour. It does have a bit of a smell (like vinegar) but that goes away after a day or so. The sink is now sealed to the counter and the shower quit leaking.

My #1 Choice for Bathroom & Kitchen!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! This is probably my 2nd or 3rd review of a product over the last 7 years, but I had to put my two cents in about this product. I've tried a number of sealants and this one by far is the best one that I've used. It's now my #1 go to for bathroom and kitchen projects. The picture included is a recent picture of a bathroom sealant job that I did almost a year ago in a rental property that I manage.

Used DAP Silicone Max Premium Kitchen and Bath Silicone Sealant to seal around base of our flag pole. It was easy to use and appears to be doing what we wanted it to do. Once it was applied it only took about 24 hours to completely cure.

I used this to install and seal a new bath tub glass door. The requirements for this to work was not only it's ability to make the connections it needed to make and to make a water tight seal, but it also had to do all that without distracting from the beautiful lines of a very nice shower door. This product did that and was easy to use. I used clear, but I know it comes in at least two other colors as well. To top it all off, clean up was a breeze as well. Job well done!
