Will this product work to glue a patch onto a bicycle tire "inner tube"?
Asked by: MARK
I do not have personal experience, but I believe this would work (after a quick internet search). You will need to cement the tire and patch separately, let it dry for several minutes, then compress together. I would search some internet forums for more information before trying this on your tire.

Is this a good choice for bonding soles back onto running shoes?

The soles are starting to come off my running/walking shoes. Is this good for bonding rubber to rubber?
Asked by: Dave
In response to the person who used a whole bottle of cement... DON'T DO THAT. I can't imagine how that could possibly work. You are supposed to spread a thin layer on each side, then allow it to dry before sticking the two halves together. You may need multiple coats if the surface is particularly rough or porous, but a whole bottle is far too much and I seriously doubt that much cement will every dry completely, let alone have any strength.

is it harmful for skin application

is it harmful for skin application
Asked by: dora
DAP does not offer any products that can be recommended for use on skin. This formula is not caustic and therefore does not produce "skin burns" as mistakenly indicated by "Community Posters". DAP Weldwood Original Contact Cement is a solvent/rubber based adhesive. The solvents used in this formula, as well as other similar adhesive products, can dry/chap/irritate skin (dermatitis). Likewise, solvents can be absorbed by skin and enter the bloodstream. As indicated on the product package label: "...this product may be absorbed through skin and may cause skin irritation". Skin contact must be avoided and solvent resistant gloves must be worn when working with this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Secret Weapon For Pinewood Derby Cars You know those weights you put on Pinewood Derby cars that fall of just when you don't want them to? Not with this stuff they don't. Read the directions and follow them. They seem crazy -- you apply the glue and then wait quite a while in order for it to set up for bonding. This means that you have time to wipe it off kid hands or incorrect parts of the car prior to it setting. Once you wait, you press the two pieces together and they are stuck for good. The beauty of this glue is that it provides a way for the boy to do more of his own work without risking a trip to the doctor. A little smelly but nothing too bad. I've done about seven cars with this (I have three boys and a girl that did several cars in Girl Scouts) after trying hot glue, airplane glue, epoxy glue, etc. Once I found this stuff I stopped looking for alternatives. Note -- good for one year only! The glue will be a solid chunk when you open it next year.

This contact cement has been around for decades. It is a strong glue that gives predictable, great results. It is a solvent based based glue that when used will give off flammable solvent fumes. This is a necessary evil that must be dealt with. The glue is applied to both mating surfaces and allowed to outgas (dry) the solvent carrier, leaving a film of pure glue. When the mating pure glue surfaces touch each other, an instant, unadjustable, permanent bond is created. The solvent drys between 15 to 30 minutes. In that time your room will be filled with flammable fumes that also burns your eyes like slicing an onion. Care MUST be taken to use in a ventilated area. There is a water based latex version available that is safer, but I have found this version to be hit or miss in the results and the drying time terribly long. The original formula works best by far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The butter to the bread of this LARPer! I'm a LARPer, and as I play the version known as Dagorhir, this is an essential. Dagorhir is a full contact sport, so when we build our weapons they have to be durable enough to whollop someone (or more often their shield) repeatedly. Our weapons take quite a beating, but the DAP holds up a very, VERY long time, and without it we'd be lost. We typically bond camping mat foam or yoga mat foam to fiberglass or PVC, but it works for all kinds of things. You have to make sure it's a ventilated space as the fumes can be dangerous if they're too concentrated. It can be annoying to open when it gets in the lid or on the rim, but it's inevitable. You just gotta twist really hard for the screw on caps, and pry open the cans, they'll open. The brush in this kind is REALLY handy, as the glue stays liquid in contact with itself, so the brush stays flexible in the bottle.

HiThe glue did not work on Mica Kitchen door (Mica's separated from door) as a Home Depot employee informed me that it would work. I asked him precisely that I am looking for a glue for Mica Kitchen door. He told me this glue (Contact Cement) is the best product for the job. When I used the glue on the kitchen cabinets, it did not worked – did not glue mica to door.I waste my time and money.ThanksM. The leather surfaces need to be ‘roughed’, so I used coarse sandpaper. Applied 1 coat , let it dry 1/2 hr & then applied another coat. After both pieces were dry (about 1/2 hr) I stuck them together & got an excellent bond.
