Will this product work to glue a patch onto a bicycle tire "inner tube"?
Asked by: MARK
I do not have personal experience, but I believe this would work (after a quick internet search). You will need to cement the tire and patch separately, let it dry for several minutes, then compress together. I would search some internet forums for more information before trying this on your tire.

Is this a good choice for bonding soles back onto running shoes?

The soles are starting to come off my running/walking shoes. Is this good for bonding rubber to rubber?
Asked by: Dave
In response to the person who used a whole bottle of cement... DON'T DO THAT. I can't imagine how that could possibly work. You are supposed to spread a thin layer on each side, then allow it to dry before sticking the two halves together. You may need multiple coats if the surface is particularly rough or porous, but a whole bottle is far too much and I seriously doubt that much cement will every dry completely, let alone have any strength.

Can i use this glue for gluing veneer to wooden panels and should it be a gel form of this product

Asked by: Mike
Yes it is an excellent product for gluing veneers or laminate to wood panels. Make sure wood panels are smooth, free of bumps and clean. Bumps and divots in the will show though. Gel or standard form of this product will work, it is a users preference. Read and Follow the Directions with ether form.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Secret Weapon For Pinewood Derby Cars You know those weights you put on Pinewood Derby cars that fall of just when you don't want them to? Not with this stuff they don't. Read the directions and follow them. They seem crazy -- you apply the glue and then wait quite a while in order for it to set up for bonding. This means that you have time to wipe it off kid hands or incorrect parts of the car prior to it setting. Once you wait, you press the two pieces together and they are stuck for good. The beauty of this glue is that it provides a way for the boy to do more of his own work without risking a trip to the doctor. A little smelly but nothing too bad. I've done about seven cars with this (I have three boys and a girl that did several cars in Girl Scouts) after trying hot glue, airplane glue, epoxy glue, etc. Once I found this stuff I stopped looking for alternatives. Note -- good for one year only! The glue will be a solid chunk when you open it next year.

This contact cement has been around for decades. It is a strong glue that gives predictable, great results. It is a solvent based based glue that when used will give off flammable solvent fumes. This is a necessary evil that must be dealt with. The glue is applied to both mating surfaces and allowed to outgas (dry) the solvent carrier, leaving a film of pure glue. When the mating pure glue surfaces touch each other, an instant, unadjustable, permanent bond is created. The solvent drys between 15 to 30 minutes. In that time your room will be filled with flammable fumes that also burns your eyes like slicing an onion. Care MUST be taken to use in a ventilated area. There is a water based latex version available that is safer, but I have found this version to be hit or miss in the results and the drying time terribly long. The original formula works best by far.

Spread it around with a disposable roller - it's quick and easy. Just be sure you have lots of fresh air, as the fumes are pretty bad. One tip - if you're recovering counters over existing laminate, be very sure all the solvent has evaporated before you mount the new laminate - especially if you're applying it in a cooler shop. Residual solvent will form a bubble under the laminate over time - you might be able to roll it out, but I ended up piercing it to vent it - but other than that it grips very well.

I used the rubber cement this morning on a leather craft project to cement a leather checkbook holder to its leather liner and then two internal pockets to the liner. The cement seems to be holding tight. Next step is to lace the surrounding edges. Two suggestions on use - first, use it outside as the fumes from the cement are strong; second, ensure what you use it for is properly aligned because it does not want to move once the two parties are joined.

I buy contact cement in these small, super-expensive quantities because once the container is opened and you used some but not all, chances are you will never be able to open it again. For small jobs, a big can of it is just a waste of money, because even if you can open it again, there's a good chance that it won't be useful any more. But as for its function as an adhesive, it does the job.

This product has always done the job for me. This time, I repaired my tennis shoe, which started to fall apart. I also re-cemented my kitchen laminated counter top. Just apply a layer to both sides, let it get tacky (the secret), then press together. I always keep a bottle of contact cement in my garage.
