No, but the XPS accessory, though discontinued, is still available for around $75. Search for "DEWALT DWS7085" for the DW717/DW718 saws.

Will it cut a 4"X4" in one pass: both 4"X4" and the finished 3.5" X 3.5"? Thanks
Asked by: MJ
absolutely it will. unlike many other 10" saws, the sliding feature on this one makes cutting through 4x4 in one pass possible and very easy

10 in. (254 mm Blade) Double Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 119.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Miter saw I've owned I bought this miter saw to replace an old non sliding miter saw. It is more accurate and has a greater cutting capacity. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth it’s weight in gold! I use this saw for trim carpentry. It’s very accurate and has survived abuse for 8 years. Recently i decided to “upgrade” to the Milwalkee cordless miter saw. It had a lot of nice features, but it was down on power and less accurate (despite squaring it, which was much harder to do on the bevel) compared to this saw. I returned it. Today I was finishing up a project with large dentil molding, and i was thinking about how awesome this saw actually is, so I decided to write this review. (Although the blade change could be easier.) Thank you DeWalt for making this saw. It has made my life easier. Now if DeWalt only made women...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not too bad The saw itself is quite an impressive product. This was a replacement for a really old 10" Dewalt chopsaw - having the blades on hand helped with the decision about the replacement size. Quick and easy setup and operates nicely right out of the box. You're going to want to purchase a better blade (unless all you plan on doing is rough crosscuts. I did purchase the Model D1090 - it'll do the job for my requirements. Just junk the included blade or put it in your cabinet for those days when you are cutting rough wood. In order to use the saw really effectively, one needs the handle mounted LED light and the extensions. The LED is great and worth the extra the extra money. This saw will be used in an enclosed shop so the LED works fine - not sure how it would be in the sunlight. The extensions (Model # DW7080) are another story. They do not install parallel (ie, they don't install level) to the work platform so you need to brace them up. Not a big deal but one would expect some better forethought. The dust collector on the unit could be improved - hook it up to a shop system with some 1.5" ID hose and a reducer and it's passable. In summary, I'm really happy with the saw and the accessories - it will serve me well for years. You really can't go wrong purchasing a quality product in the first place. I've never been disappointed with Dewalt products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Why did it take me so long to get this saw? First I would like to get the bias factor out of the way. The reason I am doing so with this review because dewalt is one of those brands that has a very faithful following and it makes a lot of people bias towards their products. That bias in reviews tends to give people that have interest in the product the wrong idea. I am not one of those people. Personally I wrote Dewalt off a long time ago, as the overrated and over priced bright yellow tools that are targeted towards contractors and construction workers. I wrote them off because every dewalt tool I ever owned had problems. Now that that is out of the way I have to say this saw is freaking awesome. Probably one of the best and most accurate miter saws I have ever used, but before I get to why it is so awesome. Lets start from the beginning shall we. I have not owned a miter saw for years. My last one broke and since I only do wood work out of my shop at home. I did not bother to buy another one. I have about 6 different crosscut sleds that I built for my table saw and they have more cutting capacity than a miter saw and they are all tuned to with .002" which makes them more accurate than a miter saw. So I opted out of purchasing new miter saw. Recently though my wife forced me into a project by going out and buying a bunch of crown moulding and baseboard for the crown molding cornice. She wanted it in the living room. Now most own miter saws to make quick work of crosscuts in lumber and make cutting crown moulding and baseboards much easier. I have jigs for my table saw that allow me to cut crown moulding with spring angles of 45/45 and 52/38. But it takes a lot more time doing this on a table saw and was only meant for doing small crown moulding jobs like a fireplace mantel or a bookshelf. Not a whole living room and dining room. So needless to say I needed a new miter saw so I got online and started researching. I know I wanted a 10" sliding miter saw. So I narrowed it down to a couple of different brands. Makita, bosch, ridgid, milwaukee and yes dewalt. These were the brands in the price range I wanted to be in because I did not want junk and they also had the features I was looking for. I also needed a saw that I could by at one of the local home centers in my area, because I wanted to start the crown moulding the next day. So that meant Makita, and milwaukee were no longer an option because though the stores carry their products. They do not carry their miter saws in stock. Also all the reviews on the makita miter saws talked about a horrible vibration in the blade that made cutting inaccurate. I like home depots brand ridgid. The stuff is quality made products but its off putting that you can never find parts or accessories for their power tools. So ridgid was out. Now I love the bosch brand tools, but all the reviews on the bosch miter saw were 50/50. Half the people loved it and the other half hated it. Mostly because the detent system for setting the cut angle on the saw was not quality made and made the saws inaccurate. I wanted the saw though, because of the new glide arm it uses instead of the slide, but what is the point in having an innacurate saw unless all you need it for is really rough cuts like hanging wall studs. So I was left with with old yellow (dewalt) Now the Dewalt DW717 has great reviews online. I mean great reviews, but I ignored a lot of them because like I said above dewalt tools have a cult following and it makes people bias. Looking at the features with the 11 positive stops for the bevel detent and 7 positive stops for the miter detent was awesome. The tall sliding fence was another plus and the 12 inch cutting capacity was a huge plus. With all that and finding out that I could walk in the store and purchase the saw. I was sold. So I went and picked the saw up. Got it home and the first thing I noticed is that it is very sparsely packed. Like literally a huge box with a couple pieces of cardboard to hold it in place inside the box was not good packing. So I did not like that. I sat the saw up on my workbench and got it all set up. Used a precision square to make sure the blade was adjusted correctly. Made sure the blade was tight. Then I made my first cut in a piece of 1x5 pine. It just burned it up. So the 40 tooth dewalt blade that came with the saw was garbage and I immediately replaced it with a Freud 60 tooth carbide tipped finish blade. Then made another cut and it cut like a dream. So when you purchase this saw make sure you buy a nice blade to go on it. I noticed that the saw is very powerful and I love the brake that brings the blade to a stop fairly quickly. The slide glides smoothly with no play in it. Out of the box the saw cut dead accurate. I tested it at 90 and 45 degree miter angles and bevels. Then checked each cute with my woodpecker precision squares that are accurate to .001 of an inch. I love the way you can adjust the miter angle with the simple push of a button and all the positive stops make it a breeze to use. You can override the positive stops with the flip of a knob and it allows you to adjust to more odd angles. The bevel detent adjustment has positive locks as well at the more common angles and can be overridden to adjust to more odd angles. The bevel detent is a little awkward to adjust but after you get use to it. It's fine. The saw has a lever that locks the blade in place and keeps it from sliding back and forth when not needed. It also has an adjustable depth of cut screw on the side for dado cuts. The dust bag as with most miter saws is useless. I suggest getting a PVC elbow to attach to the dust port on the saw and putting a box behind the saw to blow all the dust into. It still won't get all of it but it's better than the dust bag and the box is there to keep the dust contained so its easy to vacuum up later. One thing I really like about the saw is the way the handle is positioned. It makes it easy to make cuts whether you are using the left side of the saw or the right. Dewalt also makes a laser for this saw, an LED, crown stops, and a couple other accessories. I can do without the laser. Id rather see the blade physically line up with the mark on my workpiece anyway. Makes for more precise cuts anyway. Besides that the Laser is like 200 bucks. Way to expensive. The LED work light would be nice in low light situations and I have a pair of those crown stops on order. I know this is a really long review, but if you were contemplating purchasing this saw. I hope it helped you to make your final decision.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile Miter Saw I used to have a Ridgid 10" miter saw but returned it and bought this one because of Ridgid's limitations: - range of angles, - depth of cut. You will eventually get into cuts that you need mitre and bevel angles over 45 deg.s. For example, doing something simple such as installing quarter rounds usually requires cuts over 45 degrees because not all corners are true 90. Also, the sliding feature is a must. It will increase the usefulness of your saw and saves you a lot of time. In comparison, without the sliding feature you will need to take your work to a table saw, say to create a notch. It is much safer and faster to do it on a sliding miter saw. I use a professional dust collector with this saw, yet about 20% of wood dust is sprayed out. So don't get surprised. This is my solution for the remaining 20% (see picture). The clamp is also not designed as well as Ridgid's but works if you are patient. I use a pair of Irwin clamps. They save my time and let me do things the built in clamp won't. I researched extensively to pick this saw. If you are looking for even better quality you should be prepared to pay well over a grand for German brands, such as Festool. This saw is good for 99% of what you will encounter, even in fine carpentry projects.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from my favorite miter saw out of all the brands and models i have used. i have been using this saw fo... my favorite miter saw out of all the brands and models i have used. i have been using this saw for about a year and a half now, daily, as i am a carpenter. ill start with the weight, not terrible but i prefer it on a stand with wheels. plenty of power and rpms, to cut through materials like 2x6, oak, 7 1/4 inch poplar base, and many more. very user friendly and i love the preset miter and angle detents. makes for a very quick change of degree, and you can lock a non preset miter angle with tightening the lever up top. slides very nicely and spring is enough to bring blade up but smooth enough to use minimal effort, this is nice for when youre on the saw for 8-10 hours a day. dust collection with a bag is not bad, but greatly improved with a vacuum and that will collect about 85-90% of the dust. comes with a 40 tooth factory blade, but id recommend changing it for a higher tooth blade if cutting finish woods. one accessory id highly recommend, is the led light that gives the blade a shadow so you can line up your cut perfectly, while lighting up the work in front of you for clear visibility. led comes with a switch and does not work well outside in direct sunlight. overall, extremely happy, has never missed a beat, and still cuts like new.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding saw! I have had this saw for at least 3 years. I have trimmed over 200 homes and this saw hasn't skipped a beat. One time the blade brake did not activate and I thought I was in trouble but it never happened again. I added the shadow line led cut indicator to it and am amazed every day of how simple this accessory is but also how genius. As another reviewer stated he had problems with the bevel lock when you're not in a detent setting. I had the same problem but also found the adjustment for it and tightened a little and has never given me a problem since. I have several Dewalt tools and they have never let me down. Keep up the great work Dewalt. Scott G. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
