Does this come with a blade guard?

AnswersI purchased the tool-only model last week-no blade guard! I went back to the Home Depot store where I purchased it- the sales associate opened up another one- no blade guard on that one! The floor model had a guard but for safety reasons the couldn't give it to me. He suggested contacting Dewalt,which I did. I emphasised the importance of having a guard so they sent me one free of charge and it arrived yesterday
Should this include the sheath as mine only had the tool but the directions indicate a sheath?

AnswersDefinitely. Bought one 6 weeks ago and it left pools of oil, where ever it sat. Tried to contact customer support twice, with no response either time. So, back it went. Had other issues too, such as chain jumping off bar when cutting small stuff. And, well, battery life was not what I expected. Cutting pine it was ok. Cutting hardwood really drained the battery fast.

I purchased this to cleanup a pond at our ranch. I was skeptical, but it proved me wrong. This chainsaw was powerful enough to cut through 8 to 9 inch thick mesquite trees and many branches. The automatic oiler worked fine and kept the chain well lubricated throughout the day...

Purchesed saw to do some light tree trimming. I own several gas powered saws, there are times I don’t feel like using them for small jobs, so I thought I would try this out. I had a small tree come down in the last storm and used this saw to remove limbs and small branches. It worked really well. No issues. I was going to pull out my larger gas powered saw to cut the trunk but decided to use this saw instead. I was very impressed, it cut through the trunk with no issues. I let the saw do the work and didn’t force it through the cuts. In the hour I did the work the battery was down to half and the oil tank was almost empty. The only issue I have is the oil tank. It leaks oil everywhere. It definitely marks its spot. My gas powered chainsaws also leaks some oil but this takes the cake. Wish there was a way to adjust the flow. The directions say to empty the tank after use. It’s not very practical and you spill oil everywhere. I attached some photos of the tree trunk I cut. Even with the oil tank issue I would still recommend this saw just keep an eye on the oil level.

Great tool. Lightweight and easy to maneuver. For a battery operated trimmer it has plenty of power for your standard at-hole trimming. Already have a few 20v Dewalt tools, so I purchased this trimmer to replace a corded Black & Decker trimmer whose motor gave out.

This saw will do more then it should. Dropping12 inch trees with a 12 inch saw isn't recommended, but it will do it. It will eat the battery when you go that big. 8 inch and under and this saw shines.i have the drill, driver and weed trimmer so this was a logical choice from a battery perspective. Would have been nice if they made a 16 that could use two 20v batteries.

This is a cutting machine, and would recommend purchase for light, around the home work. You would not use this to clear a hillside, but it is excellent for cutting up a small tree or trimming branches.
However, do not discount the comments about the amount of oil this leaks/weeps after use. I'm glad that it keeps the chain bar well oiled to work better and last longer. But even after draining the chain oil and leaving a wad of paper towels in the discharge chute it still drips/leaks some oil after that.
You will need to place something under it to catch the oil, or the shelf on which you store it will ultimately become oil-soaked, even if you drain it every time. I cut up a cat litter jug to make a tray to place the saw in for storage. This does the trick for me. In all honesty, DEWALT SHOULD HAVE PROVIDED something like this with the saw. There is no way they are not aware of the need for this. It does not have to be a fancy form fitting case, just something that snaps to the bottom of the saw as a simple drip tray.
All that said, I would gladly purchase the saw again. It is a cutting machine.

Before purchasing this chainsaw, I read all the reviews, which were very positive - except some users noted that the oil would leak out while they were storing it. I read somewhere that as long as you store it with the bar up, then the oil wouldn’t leak. Based on all the other positive reviews, I purchased this chainsaw and set up some strategically-placed hooks in my garage so I could store it with the bar up (see my photo). I have had ZERO problems with oil leaking. As for the chainsaw itself, it works really well and totally meets my needs for general use around my suburban lot with small woods area. It is lightweight, and very safe to use.

I have several Dewalt tools and decided my old corded hedge trimmer was just not convenient, so I took advantage of the batteries I have by purchasing the Dewalt 22in cordless hedge trimmer. The blades are sharp and able to cut moderately sized branches, and the length makes reaching across easier for cutting a nice flush top cut. The trimmer feels sturdy, has a little weight to it, but not too heavy to wield above and below the bushes.
