A dog and a Dewalt shop vac walk into a garage...
2019: Went to Home Depot and bought Dewalt 14 Gallon, so tired of the other shop vac's turning over, this one stays upright and powerful.
2019-2022: Still love this shop vac, it has worked great in daily and emergency situations.
September 11, 2022: Grand-dog Trigger, a German Short Hair Pointer is hanging out with Grandpa and me, she suddenly starts running through the garage, knocking everything down, paint cans, tools, ice chests, and unplugging cords and dragging them behind her. This goes on non-stop for about an hour, then a LARGE rat runs across the garage. Time passes and finally, the varmint makes a break everyone is ready, but I had turned on the Dewalt shop vac and as it ran past me I caught it and held it to the wall. Phase two, was underway when the powerful suction folded it in half and pulled it through the hose into the abyss. Long story, short, after that was taken care of we used the Dewalt to clean up the rubble left by the determined canine.
Really glad I bought this multi-purpose vacuum!

I did massive research and settled on this vacuum. Here's my reasons why:
1. Gallon size. 12 gallons is just a little too big and this is the perfect one step down.
2. Design. It's vertical and slim taking less floor space with a pretty modern stainless steel look.
3. Dewalt suction. Most people swear by Ridgid when it comes to shop vacs but Project Farm's latest YT video says otherwise.
4. Perfect hose size (1-7/8). 2-1/2 is too big and 1-1/2 is too small.
The only negative hesitation I had going this stainless canister route was that in every review of this type of vacuum no matter which brand, there is somebody mentioning the screws rusting. But I came up with a nice fix. I sprayed plastidip all over the interior so now it's waterproof and is also ding/scratch proof, assuming a sharp flying object won't penetrate the rubber coating that is.

There is some very easy assemble required out of the box. This vac has a large capacity with good suction power. It can be used with or without bags for dry or wet applications. You can use disposable vacuum bags to pick up dry debris and dispose of it easily. Not only is this a vac for wet and dry, it has a blower port that you can use to blow debris into a pile to vacuum up easier. The vac is very sturdy, well made with nice design option. I like the handle on the top of the unit and the large caster wheels which makes it easy to move it around. It has a storage bag that attaches to the side that holds all the accessories, including the hose. I like the position of the large on/off switch. The cord is 20" long and the hose 7" so there is plenty length to work with. The cord wraps and stores around the top of the unit. Comes with 2 extension wands, disposable filter bag, utility nozzle, floor brush, crevice nozzle and a clean connect filter.

We have had this vac for 2 months and I've cleaned everything with it. I love it. I use it all the time to clean out my garage, and cars. Our basement is not finished but I have indoor/ outdoor carpet down there for the kids to play so I use this vac to clean the all the edges. It takes half the time from from my last wet/ dry vac. The handle makes it easy to move around and the large wheels are smooth. It was so easy to put together i did it before my husband got home from work. I like the bag on the side that holds all of the attachments. It comes with a lot of attachments that I didn't have before either because I lost them or my previous vac didn't provide. I'm very surprised how quiet it is because the suction is great. I wanted a larger bucket so I didn't have to empty as often so If that's what you need this vac is perfect.

By far the best shop vac I have ever owned!! Dewalt has done it again! This 12 gallon wet/dry shop vac is awesome and will make a great addition to your garage. First of all, this unit is much quieter than my previous shop vacs. Additionally, the rubber wheels allow this unit to literally glide across the floor...silently...and with ease!! The shop vac has a nice little rubber strap on the top to secure the tubing and other attachments can be stored in the side bag. Absolutely love this shop vac and highly recommend it!!

Dewalt is synonymous with quality, durability and ease of use and their wet/dry vac is another awesome tool in the arsenal. It’s the little design details that make this a winner. The top is a ergonomic handle and cord wrap that stores it neatly and out of the way when not in use. It comes with a good variety of attachments(9pc) and a long hose (2 1/2”x7’)that can be stored on the unit with a handy rubber strap that is affixed to the top and also comes with an accessory bag on the back to store the pieces. Another good thing is the filter cartridge can be rinsed and reused over and over cutting down on the expense and constant reordering from getting damaged when slightly wet from debris. I use mine at least 4-5 times a week from car cleaning, yard and leaf pickup, emptying of fountains, garage floor cleaning of sawdust and misc debris to spider web and dead bug removal. I like to use the paper bag inserts when I can to keep the chamber clean and for simple disposal of collected dirt etc. Being on wheels is a big help for moving from location to location and the 12 gal size is perfect for most residential uses. It has large simple locks on each side to secure the top and has a drain hole in front bottom and has the blower hole on back for this purpose. The suction is good and comes in at a strong 5.5 hp which is great for most tasks. The hose is attached to the front and is secured with a clip lock for easy removal or attaching. Overall there is really nothing bad I can honestly say about this vacuum except that I should have had this in my garage sooner. Just like their 20volt drill that has been my go to all purpose tool, this vacuum will be another great force in my DIY arsenal.

The Dewalt 12 Gallon Portable Wet/Dry Vacuum can be used indoors and outdoors. The vacuum comes with a set of attachments, accessory bag for storing the attachments and easy to follow instructions to operate. After the assembly I was able to vacuum my truck throughout. The vacuum has very good suction and did a very good job inside my truck. It comes with four casters that make it very easy to move around your project. I've had the vacuum for a week and so far it meets my expectations.

I have had numerous wet dry vacs over the years and this one is one of the best. What I like about it is, it is tall and easy to move around. The wheels are large and roll very well, the top handle is easy to grasp, there is a strap that holds up the hose and keeps it from dragging behind or getting caught as you move it, there is a great basket for holding all the tools. Unlike many competitors who use slots on the wheels to hold the tools, this one uses a basket. It is so much easier and convenient. It also has a 20-foot hose which is fantastic as it keeps me from having to use an extension cord. The motor is much quieter than the others I currently use. It will definitely become my "go to" shop vac.
It comes with a paper filter as well as the normal cartridge filters. I have not used paper filters before and I am becoming a fast fan. They make the clean up so much easier and the cartridge filter will last longer.
I have uploaded a short video of it cleaning. My prior vac stopped working halfway through a job and the saw and the ground around it became full of sawdust. This vacuumed it up nicely and I do not know if you can tell on the video, but the motor is very quiet. Nice.

I am a general contractor who uses a vacuum on the job site everyday. Several years ago I purchased a very expensive and very quiet shop vacuum. While for the most part I am pleased with it, it does have a major drawback: the 1 1/4” hose blocks easily with anything other than sawdust and wood chips. I was in the market for a new vacuum with a 2 1/2” pickup hose when I came across this DeWalt 12 gallon wet/dry vac. It comes in the box with minor assembly required which took all of 10 minutes to attach the wheels and accessory bag brackets. The vacuum comes with a 2 1/2” x 7 ft rather stiff plastic hose, 2 wand sections, a square utility attachment, a crevice tool, and a nice floor brush with bristles. The detachable side bag holds all the accessories, including the wands. The 20 ft power cord wraps neatly around the top carrying handle. Two side clamps hold the lid firmly onto the canister and work very well. A large rubber bungee-type cord holds the vacuum hose in place when wrapped around the vacuum. There is a drain port on the lower side of the canister to drain liquids when using the unit as a wet vac. Inside is a fine dust cylindrical filter and 1 optional use paper filter bag.
In use the vacuum works great cleaning up interior job sites quickly, although not quietly, effortlessly picking up saw dust, drywall dust, chunks of wood and small nails. Interesting, although the specifications say it moves only 105 CFM, I felt it cleaned faster and had better section than other manufacturers’ vacuums that I have used which are rated at more than twice the CFMs. The weak link in this whole package seems to be the clip that holds the hose onto the vacuum. It is a thin piece of flimsy plastic which MAY be prone to snapping off with repeated use. Only time will tell on that. One other grip I have is an illustration on page 11 of the users manual. It depicts the vacuum hose wrapped around the top of the vacuum 3 times in an impossible winding fashion. In reality, it barely makes it around once.
All in all I think most people would be happy with this shop vac. It is compact and hold all tools on board, it’s not too heavy, has a long power cord, can be used with or without a paper filter bag and it does a very good job cleaning. Lows are the stiff hose, flimsy hose clip, and relative noisy operation, although to be fair, most large shop vacs are pretty noisy.
It comes with a 1 year full warranty, 3 year limited warranty, and a 90 satisfaction return policy. It is not made in USA.

This is the cleanest this vacuum is ever going to be! This one is replacing “old faithful” which lasted me about 8 years, until a mouse moved in and made the motor it’s winter home. I needed a new vacuum and this one has great features and has earned its spot in the garage!
First off lets talk about accessory storage. My last vacuum had a plastic contraption meant to hold the accessories, it didn’t. This one has a pouch, I was skeptical, but it works great! The pouch holds all the hose ends and tubes securely, no more chasing a run away tube down the driveway!
The casters a large but not huge and the unit has a better center of gravity (it doesn’t tip over easily). The power cord is plenty long and wraps around the handle and allows you to still use the handle.
It came with a canister filer and a vacuum bag. I haven’t tried to find replacement bags but hope the “other brands” bags fit. I can confirm all my old wet/dry vac attachments fit this one, so that’s awesome.
The vacuum has great suction and is relatively quiet. The hose attaches/detaches super easy, but is not compatible with the hose from my old vacuum, and this hose is shorter than my last. But this vac has a great hose storage device that holds the hose securely in place, no more fighting with hoses!!!
This is a thoughtfully designed wet/dry vac, I was concerned that not buying the big brand name was going to be an issue, but it’s not. My old accessories work and these features at this price make this a great value.
