It took a little setup to get it dialed in but after that its functioning great. The stand, however, is another matter. Its flimsy and wobbly. Not the the best feeling when cutting. My former saw, a cheap red thing, had a rock solid stand. I will be building my own stand for this thing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So Far So Good I'm fairly new to WW although it's all I do. Not understanding that the table saw is the cornerstone of any shop, I bought the $120 Ryobi...and was never more frustrated! The 7490X addresses every single concern I had with the Ryobi. It possesses adequate power whether ripping or cross-cutting. The fence system is EXTREMELY accurate/reliable. I threw the leg-system in the corner and built a custom cart on wheels for it (as I have a small shop) and with its portability, I can't run out of ways to use it. The quick release riving-knife is a really cool feature and its operation consumes only seconds. I hook my shop-vac up to the dust-port and it deals with about 65% of saw-dust. I built a sacrificial fence for dado use, along with a custom throat-plate and dado-cutting is consistently "right on." I love the feature that defaults to "OFF" if power is interrupted and the punch-stop button is pretty cool too. OK...Here's a few features that I don't like: 1. The power-cord is kinda short. 2. You gotta kinda "Mash" the "On" button or you will get a false-start. 3. The table top is non-ferrous so a magnetic feather-board is not an option. 4. The housing is not enclosed so 90% dust-collection proves difficult (without a high-end system). Although I've only owned this machine for about 3 weeks, I've made 1000 cuts and so far, so good! I'm working my way up to a Delta Unisaw but in the interim, the 4 con's I listed is low hanging fruit compared to the pro's. I really like this machine & would recommend it to my friends.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Portable, Powerful and Accurate I am a home do-it-yourselfer. As such, I have not used a table saw much in the last few years, since I gave my old Craftsman to my Son-in Law because I ran out of room in my garage. I am just finishing up building a 12' X 16" shed with storage loft so that I will have room for the motorcycles, bicycles, pressure washer and other tools. The new DeWalt DWE7490X table saw has performed flawlessly during this project. I just took it out of the Box and used it. I found the saw to be very powerful and very accurate. I used the saw mostly for ripping 5/8" plywood and 2" X 6" lumber. The 2" X 6" lumber was approximately 2' long rafter tails that had sat out in the rain and were very wet. I decided to make 2" X 4"'s out of them to use as blocking and backing rather than throw them away. The saw never hinted that it had encountered the least bit of resistance even when sawing through big knots. I have a friend who is a professional builder who I consulted with before buying the saw. He recommended this brand. He recently asked me how I liked the saw. When I related the comments as stated above, he said his job site saw (Mxxxxx )would not perform rip cuts under those circumstances with out a lot of patience and threats of stalling, even with a new blade. As you can tell, I am very happy with the saw. I have the riving knife installed and it works without any interference. I like the clip on the back side of the fence to mount the push stick. (very handy) I also like the off function of the power switch. You don't have to look for it or grab it, you just hit it (even with your leg) and it turns off the saw. The ability to rip wide pieces of sheet stock was a major factor in choosing this saw and it works very well for that purpose. I used roller stands for the out feed. The gear drive fence on this saw is a lovely thing. My only disappointment is with the miter gauge. Although I have not used it, it appears to be cheaply made and not on par with the rest of the saw. It looks like something that would come with a $99 saw. The scissor stand that comes with the saw is well made and very sturdy. I am somewhat ashamed to say that I have not used the blade guard and therefore can not comment on it's effectiveness. Home Depot had the lowest price for the saw that I was able to find anywhere. They also gave e a ten percent discount for being a veteran. All things considered, I am more than happy with the purchase and would highly recommend this saw without reservation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great saw for the price. I saw this on the deal of the day and couldn't find a reason not to buy it any longer. Luckily it came at the best time, right in the middle of my bedroom remodel. This saw has great power, easy to use and was accurate out of the box. No need to adjust the rip fence or realign the saw blade. Everything was square and plumb. This is my first table saw and it was very easy to learn. There are great safety features built in that did help me when I forgot what I was learning and saved me a kickback bruise due to a novice mistake. My only regret was not splurging for the rolling stand model. While the scissor stand is nice, it is a bit less secure than I would like. Again, not worth taking off a star as it was my frugal-ness that put me in this spot. I'll build a bench for it sometime in the future anyway.

I waited several months before writing this review - I wanted to have plenty of time/use on the saw to base any comments on. I love this saw! Upon receiving it, I went through all the checks and adjustments. It was very close when it arrived, and would have been perfectly fine for jobsite use prior to any adjustment, but I performed the checks/adjustments to get more familiar with the saw. The fence system is excellent. it seems to have plenty of power. The blade guard is so convenient and easy to use... that... it actually gets used on all appropriate cuts, and on-board storage is good enough that pieces don't get lost. Yes, the miter is inexpensive and of questionable value - worth about as much as DW paid for it (when purchasing in quantity of 10,000 pieces!), but I'm okay with that. It's acceptable for my rough work. For anything other than rough work, consider getting an Incra miter. The saw's real test will likely be one of longevity and/or customer service when/if there is an issue with the saw. I'm hopeful that I'll be happily using this saw in 10 (or more) years. I purchased the package with the scissor stand (the package was only $20 more than purchasing the saw without the stand - so it seemed like a no-brainer). The stand was priced at $60 (?) separately, so at $20 I was happy to give it a try. I wasn't sure that I'd like the stand or be satisfied with it, but I've found it excellent for my use. The stand folds and moves/stores easily, deploys easily, and is a good balance of strength and weight (I have no reservations about its strength). My stand has a little side-to-side wobble when the saw isn't on top, but once the saw is on top it's quite stable and I don't notice any wobble. My saw/stand is mostly used outside, on uneven yard surfaces, and I've been quite comfortable with its stability to rip long sheets and lumber. The nuts that attach the saw to the stand could be improved a bit (I think others have mentioned this). I tried using wing nuts for easier/quicker on/off, and it works well on the out-feed side, but there isn't clearance on the in-feed side (stuck with the factory supplied nuts until I figure out something better for the in-feed side). The saw/stand has been secure/stable enough that I've used them together without any nut/bolt/fasteners, including large/long rips without any issue/concern (I don't recommend others do this, I'm just including the info to illustrate how stable/secure the package has been for me). Could I have been similarly satisfied with a Bosch, the Skil worm drive, or a less expensive DeWalt? Possibly, but their tables are a little smaller, their rip capacities are a little less, and I have absolutely no buyers remorse. Based on my experience so far, given the same options, I'd buy this saw again.
