Can the saw remain mounted on the stand when folding the stand?
Asked by: Max
Yes. The stand can be collapsed with the Saw attached. You can then wheel it to your next location before raising it again.

How big of a box does this come in? Will it fit in a car or trunk?

Asked by: srossi
It fit into my Mazda3 hatch...box is about 6 feetx9"x11", so it's not going to fit in a conventional car trunk.

can you mount a dual 12 inch sliding compound miter on the stand?

Asked by: ridgerunner
Yes, However, the 12" sliding miter is a heavy tool to pick up and mount on the stand. I bought the stand for the Dewalt 12" saw. The intended use for the stand is for Dewalt Miter saws.

15 Amp 12 in. Double Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 959.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best saw I've ever used Worked absolutely perfectly and accurately right out of the box without adjustments. Angles are incredibly easy to read, detents are accurate, and the locking mechanism is very sturdy, yet easy to lock/unlock. All moving parts move very smoothly with no slack at all. One of my favourite features is the light in the blade housing. Creates a perfect shadow of the blade on your material allowing for incredibly accurate cuts with no guess work. Dust is VERY well controlled. Surprisingly little dust goes anywhere else but out the back and into the bag. High angle mitres can be a bit tough with taller materials, but nothing that cannot be dealt with. I don't really like the switch on top to control the light. It is very stiff, and I don't see the point in it. I have never used the saw without it, so I tend to leave it on and just unplug the saw at the end of the day (which I would do anyway). Changing blades is not too difficult.

I did not want to spend the money on this saw as I have one that works. The one thing that I did not like about the craftsman saw was when you pulled the trigger, the torque of the saw made my piece that I was cutting move. I bought the saw pre-christmas and just pulled it out of the box a couple of days ago. I mounted it on my rigid saw stand and grabbed a piece of wood to cut (after I checked the squareness of the blade, which was perfect)...as soon as I pulled the trigger, I knew this saw was staying with me. The craftsman had the laser sight which I used at times. This saw has the shadow, which is awesome! This is a great machine and does not "jerk" when the saw is started - mission accomplished. I would recommend this saw to anyone looking to purchase a miter saw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great saw at a great value The Dewalt 12 in. Compound Slide saw is my new favorite tool. I had to decide between the Rigid and Dewalt, both are very high-quality but I ultimately chose the Dewalt because it is lighter weight, thus easy for me to transport. It would be nice if Dewalt offered the lifetime warranty like the Rigid does, which makes it a tough decision. Anyway, I've used the saw for framing, crown and trim work. This saw is precise and the adjustment mechanisms are quick and easy to use. The backlit blade is also a nice feature and it gives you a pretty accurate idea as to where your cut will be made. The slide is the only way to go in my opinion. It allows you to make cuts on large boards in one swoop whereas in the past I would have to flip the board to finish the cut. The motor is very stout and has powered through everything I’ve cut thus far. I am happy with my purchase and look forward to using the saw for years to come.

Release the lock, push down and the hydraulic piston lowers the setup safely to locked a position for transporting. Its a bit top heavy when rolling it along, so have a good purchase on the handle to prevent the assembly from tipping over unexpectedly. The ability to easily cut 16" wide lumber at 90 degrees or 12" at 45 degrees makes the saw very versatile. The only two negatives I have found so far is that the illuminated saw blade cutting guide is not easily seen under the bright Sun, so you need to lower the blade to see exactly where the cut will be performed. When I was cutting PT the exhaust sawdust collection tube leading to the collection bag did clog up on me. So removing the collection bag allowed the heavier sawdust to evacuate reliably through the tube with it removed. Other than that the saw is an excellent and precise tool. I did not have to make any adjustments prior to using. I put it together and started cutting with it right away!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Saw!! Even as a serious DIYer, I was a little hesitant to purchase such a high end miter saw, but I must say that I am not disappointed. This is a great saw. I am currently remodeling a 103 year old Victorian. The 60 degree swing cut the collar ties for my 8/12 roof with no problem. The XPS blade alignment feature is really nice. It is easy to make very accurate cuts when you can see exactly where the blade will hit. My old saw had a laser guide, but there was still some guess work when cutting. Not so with this saw. The blade that comes with the saw is nice for rough carpentry, but order a finer tooth blade if you need to avoid tear-outs. Haven't tried the saw on crown molding yet, but with all the presets, and the fact that I bought the crown fence as well, I don't foresee any problems. The dust collection is adequate. You'll do some sweeping, but the bag does fill up fast, so it catches the majority of the mess. Highly recommended.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from good saw while it lasts!! first id like to say I am a professional finish carpenter and use my saw every day. I started my business 5 1/2 years ago and unfortunately have now already gone through 2 of these! The first one lasted 2 1/2 years before the brushes went out in the motor and had to wait 3 months before I got that back. But since I have to have a saw I bought another one while it was being fixed under warranty. When I got it back I sold it, but 2 weeks ago my newer saw has the same problem with the brushes in the motor and h.d. just called and told me since im 6 months over warranty I have to spend another $176.50 to have them replace the brushes! so in 5 1/2 years I have now spent close to $1300.00 on these saws!! I have numerous dewalt tools that I have boght from h.d. and will not be buying anymore. if you aren't planning on using this saw very much, im sure it will last longer. but for people like me who use it every day for business, id look else where! Just my two cents

I was eager to get started on a cabinetry project, and after much research and after reading countless online reviews, I decided to go with DeWalt's top-of-the-line miter saw DWS780. A local Home Depot had one in stock, so off I went. Upon unpacking and setting it up, and after reading the manual, I've decided to get started. To my surprise, I quickly realized that the saw was so badly misaligned that it begun to cut into the kerf plate (see photo). I read through the manual again to see if there's an adjustment to be made, all to no avail. Upon e-mailing DeWalt's customer support, I was told to take (or ship) the unit to a repair center. Not exactly the sort of experience I was expecting after just shelling $600 for a top-of-the-line miter saw. Thank goodness for Home Depot's easy returns. I must say that over the years, DeWalt's quality control has nosedived. For a precision cutter such as this to leave the factory floor is truly unfortunate.

I bought the outriggers and the 15" material supports to create a 24" wide work surface from 1/2" plywood with 3" hardwood edge. Added Kreg combo track to each side to allow flip stop on the work surface. This stand provided a great base for this and the system breaks down and folds up for easy transport. I have had several other miter stands over the last 20 yrs. This is the best I have used for portability and rigidity.
