What store is this item locate? Dewalt 16” 60v max lithium-ion cordless flexvolt brushless vhainsaw (1) 3.0ah battery and charger?

Hello and thank you for your question. We do not have inventory on retailers. We can advise to use your zip code and see if there are any near you or you can contact The Home Depot at 1-800-466-3337 for further assistance.

Does this unit leak/drip oil while in storage? Does the oil reservoir need drained after each use?

Can a 12ah battery fit? If so how long does it last? Anyone tried?

Asked by Marco February 4, 2021

Yes, the DCB612 20V/60V MAX 12AH Battery is compatible with 20V MAX*, 60V MAX*, and 120V MAX tools. We are unable to provide run time estimates, as environmental factors play into run time, so the runtime one person gets, may not be the same as the run time another person gets.

What is the shortest that the pole will reduce down to?

Asked by MsKim December 31, 2020

About 4’-5’ this cannot be used as a hand saw without unorthodox help. I trimmed my tree by first pruning the smaller branches then the larger pieces I cut small enough to fit in my fire pit. The longer branches I clamped to an portable sawhorse and was able to cut into smaller pieces.

Box says 15’ reach. Assembled only 10’. Where’s the other 5’. Was reason i bought this saw

Asked by 772 December 27, 2020

That's a good question and one I too wondered about. I'm guessing that the additional 5' is with you holding the pole saw with your arms extended will give you the additional reach they are referring to.

How do you oil this tool

Asked by Jimmy December 5, 2020

Container attached to the base of the head where the blade leads to. Caps on the lop left of the body.

Is this battery charger compatible with a 20 V 9 Ah or a 12 Ah charging?

Asked by rubiopa December 2, 2020

No it is not compatible. I was thinking it was but it will not allow you to put one of the other batteries in it.

This is probably a dumb question, but does it come with the bar and chain when it says “tool only” ?

Asked by EK November 29, 2020

Yes, comes with everything you need except battery and chain oil.

I see 2 models in this kit with X1. Will this kit include 2 - 9amp hr batteries?

Terrible battery length, good power.
The blower itself moves alot of air and was very powerful. Battery life is terrible. Bought it from local home depot on Saturday charged it full and it didn't last. Thought maybe I didn't really charge it fully and never really timed it. So Sunday morning put it on the charge and made sure fully charged as battery light indicated it was. The battery lasted 11 minutes and 52 seconds before it cut out. On full strength. Let's be honest who is not using full power when blowing leaves. Basically enough time to sweep my front porch and back deck. If that's all its good for save your money and buy a sweeper blower that will do exactly what this does in the same time frame for a fraction of the cost. This will be returned on Monday. Blower quality good battery power terrible.

Worth Every Penny
I own a gas pole saw but wanted something longer since I own a lot of the Dewalt 20v tools. I bought the bare tool pole saw and worth every penny if not more. Yes a little top heavy as the motor is at the bar/chain, doesn’t cut as fast as my gas saw but super quiet, much longer reach and well worth the price. I like the angle on the blade. Let the weight of the tool do the cutting. Holding near vertical the best balance but of course don’t stand directly under branch being cut. If you press too hard it will stop the chain. I trimmed 4 large maple and oak trees in less than 90 minutes which filled 4 - 5x8 trailer loads of branches. I used a 4 amp/hr battery and still had 1/3rd charge left. I used 2 tanks of bar and chain oil so check frequently as unlike gas you will likely run out of bar and chain oil before the battery runs out. Check chain tension with each fill of oil especially when new. Great that the tool holder is built into the chain scabbard. I love the ability to add or remove the center section. Only minor complaint is the double top safety switch. I taped down the small top catch that requires pulling back before pressing down (really!) but still requires me to press down the safety before pulling up on the trigger. I didn’t want to defeat both safeties. Why a 2 in 1 safety switch is beyond me but if you require 2 don’t use any power tools! And yes contrary to the manual I used a ladder and my roof. I’ll never use my telescoping manual pole saw again!

Nowhere does it say you CANNOT use a 20v battery!
I looked very carefully at the online description and read every word on the carton. Everywhere it advertises 20v compatibility. So I bought it figuring I would slowly upgrade like I did with my now 20v system. When my 20v would not fit, I reread the box and every word in the instructions - nothing! I had to dive to page 3 on Q&As to find out all that 20v compatibility stuff was about everything BUT actually using a 20v on the machine. SO NOW I'M GOING TO GO SPEND $220 ON A 2ND BATTERY? You can't operate a machine with no backup battery. So my Sunday evening project is dead and I'm kinda screwed. Now, when I can get back to Depot, Dewalt's going to get an unsellable $270 blower (I banged it around a bit until the 60v battery died). My job is writing packaging for name brand products sold at Depot. A small "Machine not compatible with 20v batteries" should have been on the carton - UNLESS they are trying to coerce me into upgrading before I planned to. BAD experience with a tool I formerly liked.

Short Work Chainsaw
This saw is powerful, but I have had to return 2 of them. The first saw was running good for about 2 or 3 hours of cutting down saplings. Then the chain started flying off the bar. The bolt and washer that keeps the chain from coming off fell out while cutting. The 2nd one I bought was just as powerful as the first. Up in New York preparing for winter I got about 20 hours of cutting up logs for splitting before going down to Kentucky to clear a tree stuck between oil tanks. Cut the tree down and cut it into 3 pieces when the motor made a weird noise and a cloud of smoke came out of it. The chainsaw stopped working after that. I would recommend this to any and everyone 13 or older male, female, or what ever you call yourselves. Quick and easy to use. The average person won't be able to run this saw as hard as I did. I have 8 flexvolt batteries and have converted completely to the Flexvolt line.

The trimmer has plenty of power but even on low I can't finish my 1 acre lot with the 9ah battery. The guard does almost nothing to stop debris and the motor is always covered in grass trimmings. I vacuumed mine out. I've used it under 10 times and today 2 minutes into trimming I had to keep bumping it because string wouldn't feed out. Only slightly harder than usual and the shaft bent. Still works but I'm returning immediately. I was very hopeful switching from a gas weed trimmer. Now I have to figure out something else.

Great battery powered pole saw!
While this definitely doesn’t have the power of a gas pole saw, it does exceptionally well for being battery powered. As others have said it is a bit top heavy, and it can get a bit unwieldy when it is extended out to its full length. Let me explain. I was using it to cut branches beyond the maximum 15’ cut height, some of which were directly overhead or were out a ways, and when resting the head of the saw on the branch it cut through them with ease, but presented me with a new problem. Once the branch was cut the saw would fall to the ground right alongside the branch, and while I was able to catch it in time before hitting the ground, it put unnecessary strain on the shaft. After this happened I had a brilliant(for me) idea. I bought 100’ of 1/4” rope, tied a noose on one end, and then tossed the noose over a branch higher than the one I’m cutting. Then I put the noose around the head of the saw, just above the knuckle that mounts the saw to the shaft. I grab the rope in one hand, the handle in the other and I’m ready to cut branches as far as I can reach. Pulling on the rope with one hand virtually eliminates the weight of the saw, and while cutting the branch helps counter balance the saw and once the branch is cut, the saw sits up there waiting for its next job. I hope this helps someone else as much as it helped me.

Far exceeded my expectations
This pole saw was awesome. I really pushed the limits of this pole saw and cut a bunch of different sized branches. This saw had zero problems. My only complaint is this does not come with any bar oil at all, so don’t forget to purchase some with this saw if you don’t already have some.
