16 in. 40V MAX Lithium-Ion Cordless Chainsaw with (1) 6.0Ah Battery Pack and Charger

I was hesitant to buy a battery-powered chain saw. I didn't think it would quite match the cutting power of a gas engine chain saw. I was happily surprised. The cordless DEWALT is a no fuss, efficient cutting machine. I don't think I will ever go back to a gas chain saw.

I bought my saw about two years ago and I love it. I used it last fall to cut down some old trees and saplings. It cut those trees like a hot knife through butter. My only complaint is the battery runs out quickly, especially if you use it on a constant basis. My am very please with this saw and all the DEWalt tools I own.

I purchased this saw for small jobs around the house in Aug. 2016. The battery supplied with the saw was the 4Ah size and it would run the saw for bout 30 to 45 minutes depending on how hard I worked and the size of the wood being cut. I love this saw. Last year I cut down 7 trees in my yard that had died due to beetles and drought. The trees ranged from 6" to 18" Dia. and from 30' to 80' tall. They were Cedar and Pine trees and this saw cut through them just like my older gas powered chainsaws use to do. The cutting chain is narrower but cuts really good and I have never had to sharpen it or adjust the tension yet. The saw uses a little more bar oil than I am use to but that is not a real problem. I love the convenience of this saw. My gas powered saws are hard to start and need all kinds of intensive care like never putting them away with gas in the carburetor because I usually only use them about three days a year. My only complaint is battery life. I need to cut down 3 fairly large Cedar trees this year and after I got all ready to cut one of them, I found that the battery that came with the saw has stopped accepting a charge. This battery is only 2 years old, What gives? I have a DeWalt Drill that is older and the battery in it holds a charge very well. I mean I have not charged it for months and it just keeps on running the drill every time I take it out of storage. I don't run my drill except to drill or screw the occasional screw for picture hanging or something like that.

Cuts great, but uses a copious amount of chain oil! It's easy to use, but don't be fooled, wear your safety gear.
