Our new 1/4 sheet sander combines many end-user driven features and benefits. We have reduced the overall height of the unit, while keeping a powerful motor. We have also been able to reduce the vibration and wobble to give the tool improved comfort while using. The new paper clamp system was created after feedback and frustration that users had with the current wire form system. The new system works with a front button and a paper tension system with the back paper clamps.

How is this "finish sander" different to an orbital sander? Thank you!

AnswerHello Aileron, Finish sander is designed for ultra smooth/fine work, removing putty or rounding sharp edges. Finish sander and orbital sander are the same. The different one is a random orbital sander. One uses sheet sanding paper an the other uses circle sanding pads either hook and loop with 8 holes or adhesive. One sands back and forth and the random orbital sands in circles.

Had it about 6 weeks now with regular use in my home-based Etsy business. No complaints whatsoever. It is a bit more aggressive than the Porter Cable it replaced, but that thing was like 15 years old, so.... The grip is extremely comfortable. The only oddity is that it will make this 'squiggle' when running down the length of a board Nothing shows-up in the finish, but it just makes an odd shake. My guess is as the eccentric is on a certain angle. Regarding the vacuum hook-up, what I've started doing is slipping over to the plumbing department and picking up a rubber pipe coupling. 1 1/4 will allow my Ridgid 'upgrade' hose to slip/tension fit perfectly.

Easiest Sheet Attachment I've Found
This sander far exceeds my expectations for a sander in this price range. The system for attaching the 1/4 abrasive sheets is effective and very easy to do. I was a woodworking teacher for many years and this was one of the easiest systems I have used. The sander is also easy to control and the vibration is not a problem.

I like the sander because it is lightweight and uses regular sandpaper. I guess I thought it would hold a little more dust than it does. I just have to empty the dust catcher more often than I thought I would. I would not recommend it for big jobs if you want to limit dust because emptying the dust catcher that often would make for a longer job.
