Questions & Answers

Does this product come with the battery and charger?? In the description it says NO but in your response it says yes

Asked by: Mo
It depends on which kit you buy. You can get "tool only", or with battery and charger, or as a "combo" with other 20v tools.

20-Volt MAX Lithium-Ion Cordless 13 in.Brushless String Trimmer with Bonus Hedge Trimmer, 5.0Ah Battery and Charger is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 582.

The battery only really lasted one pass around my yard(5Ah, 20v battery), and my grass hasnt even really started to grow for spring yet. quarter acre lot, but i only have a back yard. The string is too short at 13 inches, i had issues with the string slipping back into the head. The power was acceptable, but not great. The head shape is sort of blocky and doesnt lend its self to anything besides "simple", i have a curved garden bed, cement walkways, inground gutters, brick work, and the head felt like it was sort of "in the way" compared to others ive used with a smaller head. The trigger and handle were got slightly annoying towards the end, they didnt seem very ergonomic, and similar to the head shape, if you have to move it around much your hand will quickly get tired. I think the short string and large head added to the amount of maneuvering i had to do with it.

I live in the country and I have very tall thick weeds that I need to trim. I bought this DeWalt trimmer because I have several DeWalt 20v tools and I am impressed with all of them. I only took two before and after pictures, and I have only used it for about 30 minutes, but it should be noted this can cut thick tall grass. It is not everything that a gas trimmer is, but it is not far behind.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I should have believed the negative reviews of this model:... I should have believed the negative reviews of this model: although the string is easy to load, the feed mechanism is prone to jamming. After only about 10 minutes of use the string broke off, with nothing showing outside of the spool, and I could not open the spool to fix the problem. Thank goodness that Home Depot allows no-questions-asked returns. In researching the problem, I found a YouTube video showing how to load the string, but apparently this was for an earlier model, in which two separate lengths of string were wound on the spool--more of a hassle to load than for the current model, but apparently much less prone to problems with the string feed. I have many DeWalt tools, all of which are well designed; sadly, that is not the case with the current model of the string trimmer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Youll love it until It's an awesome trimmer just as powerful as a gas and runs a long time. You will absolutley love it until you run out of the line that it comes with. The honeymoon is over. I usually have to pry on the spool with a large screwdriver for a total of 30 minutes . Thats two 15 minute shifts with a few minute break to rest my hands. This wonderful trimmer is the biggest piece of crap you will ever come across as far as trimmers go. Once you manage to get the spool out you wrap tbe line in opposite directions re insert spool turn clockwise and hit the throttle for about 2 seconds and the spool goes flying off and the line flies everywhere. Hard to believe duhwalt didnt even test this thing before blessing us with it. I wont buy anything duhwalt again. Had to click a star. I didnt want to

I was very hesitant to buy this because of the heavy duty trimming needed where I am in the Redwoods. I didn’t think a cordless trimmer was strong enough but I have 20v DeWalt tools and batteries already so I took a risk for $99. I bought the “tool only” and wow, I was very surprised by the power my two dinky 3ah batteries have in this trimmer. I had one battery on the charger and used the other switching off and pretty much used it all day without running low on battery. This trimmer can take abuse. It’s not like a little crappy trimmer you would expect in a cordless but once again, DeWalt surprised me. I will say that if you’re going to use this commercially, get two or three 5ah batteries. There was one point we’re I was in really heavy ferns and had to wait for my second battery to charge for about 15 minutes. Pros: No more gas cans. Neighbors like it because it’s quiet. Easy to handle. Cons: Need at least two 5ah batteries for heavy trimming. A little heavy using all day.

I was debating between this and a less expensive BLACK+DECKER 12" single-line trimmer, and ended up buying this a few weeks ago because I have a weakness for yellow tools. I'm glad I did. I recently used a comparable B+D trimmer at my church (I think B+D model LST400), and while the B+D is a perfectly capable tool, the DeWALT is a definite upgrade. It balances better in my hands, the grip is easier to hold and doesn't stress my fingers, and it feels significantly more powerful. I immediately had put the B+D in "power mode" to chop through some thick grass, but I've never even felt the need to use "power mode" on the DeWALT, and usually just keep it in the less-powerful "run-time mode". The variable speed trigger is a nice plus; it adds to the feeling of control and allows some finesse when you're working around things you don't want to obliterate. I can't speak to runtime; both tools had beefy batteries (4Ah for the B+D and 5Ah for this) and I've yet to run out of battery, even going all the way around a property and whacking weeds into the edge of the woods. I do wish the tool were an inch or two longer; I'm 6' and it feels a tiny bit short. I also wish it had a quick-release clamp to fold it for transportation. The pushbutton-snap connection leaves a little slop, so I prefer to tighten it down with a hex key. But then I have to dig out the hex key to fold it up and put it in the back of my car.

I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a tool that can be used in close quarters to other homes andnot have to be concerned about excessive noise. Quiet enough notto have to wear earplugs. Always wear safety goggles to protect against flying particles. Also having an extra charged battery would also help innot having any down time while the depleted battery is charging.Happy hedge and string trimming !

Rated 4 out of 5 by from only used a few times. seems fine and works well... only used a few times. seems fine and works well so far. not as strong as the 2 stroke gas weedwackers though. but being electric and working with my drill batteries its way more convenient and wont make all your neighbors mad with how loud it is. electric wont have problems with jetting or the carb getting clogged. should be more reliable. happy with it so far and its only $120 so should pay for itself in a few yrs
