    You definitely need a battery and charger. The batteries from other Dewalt drills fit. If you don't already have some, this drill is available as a kit with battery , charger, and carrying bag.

    Yes. You can also use the Flex-volt battery (60/20 volt) but it will be very heavy and work at the same speed as the 29 volt battery.

    Yes, you can. I have no problem using a regular drill bits (the biggest bit that would fit is 3/8”) it has plenty of power with my 3amp battery to make a hole in metal or wood.

    No, you could use it with any 20volt max batteries. I use my with a 1.5amp battery. Went I need longer run time or more torque I use the 3amp or my other 4amp 20volt max battery. They all work without a problem. I like the smaller battery because it’s a lot lighter then the 3 or 4 amps batteries.

    Got this in a combo kit. No need for it really so never used it. Went to sell it now three months later and trying it for the first time and there is a grinding noise on speed one. And cant be used because as soon as you touch the chuck it makes a plastic grinding noise and the chuck stops spinning but the motor keeps going. So it cant be used on speed one. Speed two works fine.

    I'm slowly switching over to Dewalt 20V Max cordless equipment since I picked up another drill with a charger and two batteries last year. One of those batteries failed and Dewalt replaced it for me at no charge under the 2 year warranty. Anyway, I had been looking for a right angle drill when I found this unit. I do model railroading and sometimes need to drill in tight places under the layout. This drill has been great for that. One thing I don't get isn't so much about the drill, more about it's description! The outside of the box and most of the places I looked do not mention the built-in LED light. The LED comes on automatically and illuminates the work piece, turns off about a minute after you stop drilling. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it had this feature (see working under the layout above) as I find it really handy. I don't understand why they don't mention this cool feature. My other Dewalt has the light as well and I was looking for it. The deep socket that allows the bit to be placed farther in and therefor reduce the space need is good as well. This is the first "right-angle" drill I have owned, though I've used a couple that belong to friends. This is better than either one of those, but it's worth mentioning that the others were both really old. The only reason that the value is not "excellent" as this a bare tool, no battery, no charger for the price. If you don't already a charger and batteries, the kit they sell that includes a battery and charger is the way to go.

    I think we drilled maybe 20 holes with this. It runs hot it seems. There was a gap in usage. Almost finished a recent project when it suddenly lost power and started smoking. I was worried it would catch fire even minutes after removing the battery. I had it a few months but the date stamp is over a year. Not putting money into fixing it. Never had a dewalt piece fail so easily and soon. I have pieces nearly 20 years old that work. Other 20v drills from 2013 that have had heavy use and are great.
