Is this stronger then the 60v dewalt?

Asked by Tito December 11, 2020

Answer

Not necessarily "stronger" - if you are referring to the saw itself. The 20-Volt vs 60-Volt refers to the battery. The 60-Volt battery is designed to last longer and handle heavier loads than the 20-Volt.

Whats the difference between this and the 60V flexvolt gen 2?

This saw just adds the capability to run at a lower power off a 20v battery

Does this have a 4 way blade position

Unfortunately no. The compact brushless 20v sawzall does though.

Must have tool!
I purchased this tool to replace my corded reciprocating saw. I was skeptical of its cordless capabilities and power compared to the cordless predecessor, but boy was I presently surprised!!! This saw is a BEAST paired with a flexvolt battery! This tool is on the heavier side, but feels very comfortable in my hand. Totally a must have for any professional, diyer, or home owner!

I was tired of pulling extension cords through the yard to cut branches off our bushes. I decided on the Dewalt 20-Volt MAX Lithium Ion Cordless Brushless Reciprocating Saw with FLEXVOLT ADVANTAGE (Tool Only) because I already have several Dewalt tools and don't need additional batteries or chargers. The tool is very powerful and easy to use. The keyless blade change is easy and done in seconds. The bight LED in the front can be helpful in dark spaces. The tool come with a tiny blade.

As a Dewalt tool owner I was excited to try out this new line of tools that operate on 20v and 60v batteries. I own a 20v recip saw as well as a flexvolt recip saw. This new saw is the best of both worlds. It’s essentially a flexvolt tool that gives you the option to run a 20v battery at a reduced power. I decided to put all three saws up against each other. I first used a 5ah 20v battery in the advantage saw and the traditional 20v saw and compared cutting speed through a 2x4 using identical blades. The advantage saw cut through in half the time over 3 tries. I then used a 9ah flexvolt battery in the advantage saw and the flexvolt saw and had identical times. I then compared the advantage saw with the 5ah battery vs the 9ah flexvolt saw and found it only about 1 second slower. I was extremely impressed with the performance of the new advantage saw both using the 20v and 60v batteries. It will be my new go to saw due to its battery versatility and amazing performance. I highly recommend you try this saw out.

While I would recommend this product, I was suprised how much heavier it is than the older model 18V reciprocating saw I was replacing. Bare tool to bare tool, this saw is a whopping 3 pounds heavier than the 18v model. (Model DW-938, circa 1997) When adding the battery, an 18V for the old saw and a 4AH 20V for the new saw, the new model is still 1 pound, 2 ounces heavier, quite amazing. Performance wise, I'm not sure the newer model is that much better than the older model. New batteries, and, in theory, more efficient power, should lengthen the operating time from a charge, but working with this tool day in and day out could be problematic due to the weight. Features that I like, though, include an LED light that shines on the cutting surface and a quick release lever for changing the saw blades. Overall, a pretty good, but heavy saw.

We have some demolition to do. We have large square foot garden planters that are starting to fall apart and cannot be fixed. I needed something to make the job easier than using a standard saw and reciprocating saw is exactly the right tool. The saw is cordless and brushless and works with a 20V battery (not included) which makes it easy to use in the backyard. This is a powerful tool and makes short work of something that I fully expected to spend hours and lots of hard labor accomplishing. It has a locking mechanism that keeps the blade safely installed and allows you to easily unlock it to remove or to change it. The tool comes with a blade that can be used for wood and metal, which means it can cut through wood with nails in it. There are plenty of other blades to buy for other uses. I plan to buy several, including one that will work well to cut limbs off of the trees in our yard.

This is a heavy duty powerful saw. When I first got it I didn't have any projects where I need it, so I went out to my garage and clamped a 4x4 down and and began making cuts. I made sure my blade was new and started cutting off about 2 inch pieces. I went right through with no problem. It had plenty of power. After cutting 5 pieces my arms were getting tired. The battery I had was a 12ah 20/60 flex volt which weighs in at 3 pounds and the saw weighs 8.8 pounds. That's about 12 pounds Which can get quite heavy if you're working overhead. Other than that it's fantastic. I know how to use this so I didn't have to look at the directions. But if you have never used one the directions are easy to follow. They even give you a blade too.

Let's start off with, I like this saw! I own many Dewalt 20v tools and this one is going right in the tool box. As with all my Dewalt tools , the batteries are interchangeable and offer ample power for the tool. The tool is brushless which will give me long life and zero maintenance of the motor. There is a pop up switch at the top make it easy to change blades. I like the LED light in the front to offer a extra lighting to the location to be cut. The tool is really not that heavy and has nice rubber gripping surfaces. If you are looking for a quality recipricating saw, look no further, this is the saw you need.

The DeWalt 20-volt Max Lithium Ion Cordless, Brushless Reciprocating saw is a perfectly capable tool. I got it because my employer predominantly provides DeWalt cordless tools and I didn't want the hassle of keeping up with multiple types of batteries. Being able to use DeWalt's entire line of lithium ion batteries ensures I will always be able to use this saw when I need it. As far as its performance I have no complaints. It's a saw and it does what it is designed to do. Attaching and removing blades is quick and easy and they can be installed teeth up or down, whichever is needed. The blade lock is large and easy to operate while wearing gloves. The saw is large so know that you will have difficulty in tight places. Also note it's heavy. This is probably an indication of good, solid build quality but you're going to hate it if you have to use it over head or for extended periods of time. There are lighter weight, less robust, alternatives for tight spots and overhead use. I was looking forward to using the bluetooth capability to keep track of the tool and defend against sticky fingers so I was disappointed to learn that it is only compatible with the technology. A separate add-on is required to use this feature and was the biggest negative I found about this saw considering a major competitor offers the same feature already built into the tool.

When it says Dewalt on the package, I know it's a Quality product. My cordless Dewalt drill is 15 years old and still going strong, so when I wanted a cordless Reciprocating saw, I knew this was the one. It has a variable speed trigger which can be locked on when needed, and the best feature is the lever you pull up, slip a blade in, and push the lever down to lock in place. (This model does not come with a battery or charger, so if you don't already have them, maybe buying a kit that includes them would be more cost efficient.)
