This nailer is increadible! Purchased for a fence build, and wow did it perform! Able to adjust nail depth and use difference size nails that changed out in seconds. My days of hauling a compressor, hoses, and extension cords to a job site is over. I have changed out virtually all my power tools with the DeWALT cordless line. The battery life is fantastic, and I can exchange all my batteries from tool to tool if needed. I highly recommend... THEY NAILED IT !

Ive owned this tool for about six months and i notice whenever I use nails other than Dewalt my gun jams and I have to break down the front of the gun to free the nail. I have tried Hitachi and other brands that Home Depot carry but I find if I use the Dewalt brand, I end up with less down time.

        doesn't sink nails
went bought this this morning thinking it was going to make my life so much easier not having to pack my compressor and air hoses around anymore, but it doesn't sink the nails and if I'm going to spend $400 on a nailer I shouldn't have to go back and tap every nail in the last quarter of an inch

This is my second DeWALT 20-Volt MAX Cordless Nailer, the first being the 18Ga. A bit heavy but worth its weight in the freedom of no air hoses and compressor. Used it on a repair job already and was easy to dial in the proper depth. Shot 2-inch SS nails and 3-inch 21 Degree Plastic Strip nails. Highly recommended addition to your DeWALT tool arsenal. The kit bag will not hold the tool as it's way too small. I did find a perfect solution in a Husky Heavy Duty 10 Gal. Storage Tote with Lid (Model# 235596). The nailer fits perfectly inside without moving around. There is ample room for batteries and a charger. The canvas kit bag can hold the boxed nails and still fit inside the tote on top of the nailer. I will not add too many boxes of collated nails though because of the added weight. The storage tote is light weight plastic but keeps the nailer safe and easy to transport.

This worked great for my needs. Lost a star not so much for the weight to me, the box of nails (1000pk) felt heavier. The magazine capacity is just too low for me. The capacity is 49 nails I beleive, but for the nails I used they came in strips of 28 so I could only load one strip at a time. Great to have on the job site, especially at the end of the day when you packed up all of the compressors but noticed something that needs to be addressed before you leave, instead of taking everything back out you can just use this in a matter of seconds. I've been in situations where a cordless nailer would have been very handy, especially for the roofers who have to run the cord all the way up there from the ground. I used this for a few projects around the house so far and it worked great. I must admit there about 2 proud nails and they were due to user error. My very first nail was proud because I used 3-1/4" nails and did not change the mode to setting 2 , for longer nails. The other time is when I merely did not apply enough pressure to the workpiece and did not hold the nailer firmly against it. The rest of the nails sank in just fine and I did not have the depth adjustment set to the lowest setting(There is a dial you turn on the top). I did not experience any jams. I used this to reattach a piece of decking that fell off, and again to form a frame for other projects I had. One was for the base of a stand I was making it. Another was to add blocking to a workbench I made. All of the materials were 2x's that I was attaching to other 2x's The ramp up time is not that long, a second or so, to activate the nailer you have to press the nose against your workpiece. From there it will start to ramp up, then pull the trigger to fire a nail. Once the nose is depressed and starts ramping up, you have 5 seconds to fire a shot otherwise it will power down. Just release and depress the nose again to reset it. The loudest the nailer got was 86db according to my sound meter, you definitely want to have ear protection on when using this. To load the strips simply drop them in from the back. The rafter hook worked well, ueasy to adjust. The trigger lock adds security especially while transporting it. This comes with a marring tip and I left it on just so I would not lose it. I did need it for the decking though and it worked well. This takes full head nails. The grip rite nails worked fine. No issues

The DeWalt gun was a great aid in my project. It porformed flawlessly with both the 3 1/4" and 2 3/8 " nails.I was suprised at the power this gun had and had no problem driving nails. The weight of the gun concerned me before purchasing but was not bad when in use. It seems to be made well and I am anticipating many years of use. It compliments my large array of 20 volt DeWalt tools all of which I am quite pleased!

Excellent performance and features - a (revised) winner. The earlier version did not perform well; this is the revised model. This one rocks! The DeWalt 21* DCN21PLB Framer Nailer can drive nails up to 3-1/4". Here's my experience. Starting off with 2" fasteners, every one flush into old 2x stock. Switching to 3-1/4" "plastic collated fasteners", again ten out of ten perfectly flush. There is a switch (single nail or multi-nail) to select either sequential or bump-fire mode. In Mode 2 (bump-fire), every 3-1/4" went flush into old hard stock. Again 100-percent flush on all nails. That ability is the reason you purchase the tool. Let's look at a few of the nice extras. First, nail feed is easy, quick, and simple. Pull back the "pusher latch", it locks into place, drop in the nail strip from the top, and release the pusher latch. That's it. Some complain the nailer leaves the last four nails. If you read the fine print (who does!) the last four nails do not feed but are intentionally held back preventing nail jambs, which often happen at the end of a nail stick. So, when the gun stops and you see a nail or two, just drop in the new strip and keep going. No, you can't load two nail strips, but DeWalt designed the magazine to hold the longest strip of nails being sold plus 4 nails for a maximum of 49 nails. If you know this, then it's not a big deal if you see a few nails and the gun stopped. The magazine is metal and strong. Like many tools, there is an on-board hex wrench. (I will add it never jammed in all the nails I shot.) The included 20V 4.0AH battery is plenty powerful and will last longer than you think it will. There is a small but convenient on/lock button just above the trigger. I did not find it hard to use or troublesome. There is also a depth adjustment on the contact tip which is easily marked. The initial settings were fine for my use so far. The grip is comfortable, seems natural to the hand, and allows for proper control of the nailer. The built-in rafter hook is integrated into the base of the handle. In the lock position, it does cover both the single/bump and Mode 1/2 switches; yet you don't change them that often so it didn't affect me negatively. If you have your team framing, you probably are going to have the compressor and a series of air nailers running; but there are many scenarios where this tool is superb. The electrician who needs to relocate a stud or install a cross brace for a can light. The carpenter who needs to finish that last rafter and the compressor has been shut down for the day. A remodel where only a few pieces need to be relocated. The job-site where a compressor set-up is not practical. And the list goes on. There are two minor issues. First, personally, I would like a hard case, either included or as an option. I like to store expensive tools safely, and while I understand the need to cut costs (hence the inclusion of a soft bag as a case), I would like the hard case option. Second, the nailer comes in at 8.2 pounds. Not a lightweight, but this is an all-in-one tool, meaning no compressor and hoses. I'm an older guy but I didn't find it too heavy. Lastly, let me add this is the second unit I received. The first one which appeared to have been some type of in-house test unit, wasn't packaged as a new unit, and did not work properly. DeWalt readily acknowledged my concerns and replaced the unit. The second one was properly packaged (cardboard separators, plastic wrap, shrink wrap, etc.) and performed flawlessly. DeWalt does stand behind their products so contact them if it's not right "out of the box". Overall, WOW. Another solid DeWalt well-made tool with excellent features that help the Pro contractor do their job quickly and more efficiently. You'll probably find yourself using this more and more over time.
