Blower DCBL 7220 -STOP- don’t buy it
There are plenty reviews and comments about the worthless DeWalt battery packs; so much so that they have to give special warranties because of their failures. I never expected failures from their brushless blower. I paid premium to get what I thought would be the best. It totally failed after 1 1/2 years. It is covered under warranty but they refuse to honor the warranty if you fail to register the product. I didn’t register it because I didn’t expect a problem. It is their product with their serial number and labeling. What a lame excuse to escape their responsibility. NO MORE DeWalt products for me.

Where has this tool been all my life?!
Where has this tool been all my life?! The Dewalt 20 volt cordless pruner is a beast, cutting up to an inch diameter maple with little trouble. I used it for several hours yesterday doing some spring pruning and cleanup around the yard with less than one charge on a 2 mAh battery. Being a one-handed operation makes for quick work – you can hold the branch with one hand and complete the cut quickly with the other hand. In addition to saving blisters from traditional pruners, it gives a great ergonomic advantage. Two years ago, while using long-handled loppers in an awkward position, I tore a bicep tendon. I’m convinced that wouldn’t have happened if I had this pruner at the time! Highly recommended!

Great pruner, lightweight, easy to use, powerful and clean cuts
The pruner is easy to use, lightweight, and cuts small to larger branches with great accuracy. I was able to cut about one inch thick branches with no problem. It is rated at 1.5 inch branches. I wasn’t able to test that, but I held together a few branches that were as large and it cut them clean with one try. With larger branches, I sometimes had to do two clippings and that was it. Anything less than a half inch, just one clip. It is actually quite enjoyable to use. I used to prune the trees around the house with a manual pruner for thin branches and a reciprocating saw for larger branches such as one to two inch thick ones. It would take me half an hour or so with the reciprocating saw, but this pruner is so much faster and cleaner. No dust and a mint clean cut. It definitely replaced the reciprocating saw for pruning. It is easy to operate and doesn’t require any preparation other than installing a battery and putting your safety glasses on. I paired it with a 3.0ah battery and after 5-6 trees, it was still full. It has a safety mechanism before pressing the trigger to prevent accidental activation, and if you let the trigger go, it opens back up, so for it to close all the way, you need to keep pressing the trigger. You can take the blades out for replacement or sharpening using the provided allen wrench. The blades also have a hard plastic cover to protect the blades and user. In addition to the clean cut, these are great to prevent hand fatigue, as the power does not come from needing to open and squeeze your hand. Great for when you have a lot to cut and for those with smaller hands or arthritis (my wife and my mother in law both really liked it). I do the pruning in February every year when it is the coldest time of the year and store the pruner after use. It is a good idea to clean the blades with bleached wipes after each tree so that you don’t transfer any diseases between trees and use WD-40 or silicone spray on the blades before storing so that the blades would be clean from resin, and would not rust. Overall, I didn’t know pruners like this existed, but I am so glad I picked this up and hope to use it for many years to come.

    This tool is awesome
We live in the desert and have a lot of creosote that need trim on the property. The branches start to lay on the ground so I wanted to go around and trim them up. This tool is amazing! It’s super easy to use and cuts through the branches like butter. There is a safety which is nice so you don’t have accidents. There’s a light near the blades so if it’s in a darker spot you can see what your cutting. We tried different size branches and it cut everything that fit in between the blades which was super impressive. This is definitely my new favorite pruning tool.

    Not at all impressed!
This is an attractive tool which appears well made. The blades operate quickly to close and release, but with a large amount of sparking which indicates this tool is not brushless as one might hope. I was optimistic that it would make my pruning task easier. That proved not to be the case! My first use of the tool was with an older 3A battery and on a just-over 1-inch water-shoot on a growing Photinia shrub. The tool jammed up and it took multiple tries to complete the cut. I then proceeded to try to cut the same branch into smaller pieces. On sections approaching 1-inch in diameter the tool would simply stop, requiring that the trigger be released to reset. I suspected that the battery might have become depleted as that pack is an older one without a charge indicator, so swapped it out for a fully charged 5A battery. Despite this, it continued to need resetting and on multiple occasions it was necessary to actually remove and replace the battery before it would make another cut. One of my photos shows how the tool jammed up on a 20mm (approximately 4/5") branch. This tool is useless for anything but the lightest pruning job. It decidedly does not stand up to the claim of being able to cut a 1-1/2" branch and I am unable to recommend it. The tool is made in China.

    WOW what a quick pruner!
I have several Dewalt 20V tools, so I already had batteries for use with the bare tool. I thought the safety second switch would be a problem, until I tried the tool and found that it is so quick to sever a tree limb it would make sort work of a finger. I quickly learned to appreciate the safety switch that must be easily manipulated to allow the cutters to be activated. This tool will cut up to 1.5" diameter branches in less than one second. The tool is balanced well and easy to control with just one hand.

    great tool
I never even knew these pruners existed. It's a great Idea for cutting small branches up to one inch and a half. I am a painter and I often need to trim plants away from the area where I have to paint. I don't like carrying big pruners around in my van they take up to much space. They are super strong and cut through branches like butter. These will come in real handy on my jobs.

    What a tool!!!
DEWALT 20-Volt MAX Cordless Pruner (Tool-Only). This tool is a beast. Used it yesterday for the first time! The specs say 2 1/2 pounds but with battery more like 4 1/2 lbs! But still not heavy by any means. The instructions have a lot of WARNINGS about the dangers of not operating safely, after using I can see why!!! The concept of a clipper with a lot of torque is great and DeWalt comes through again! The blade is extremely sharp and comes with a Allen wrench to remove said blade for sharpening or replacement! The instructions are well written. Tool and accessories made in China. When cutting a 1in live Alder branch it took 2 cuts in get through said branch. It has a great 2 step safety switch to avoid any accidental cuts because it could cut a finger clean off! I’m not trying to scare anyone away from using this tool, just be careful as with any power tool! My wife loves this tool, she said it stays in her garden kit! Happy wife happy life!

Dewalt 20-Volt Max Cordless Pruner, tool only
The Dewalt Max20Volt Garden Pruner is now one of my favorite tools in the garden. It will cut branches up to 1.5 inches maybe a bit smaller on dead wood but still at least 1.25 inches. It works on the standard 20v Dewalt battery and is said to be able to 1,000 cuts per charge. I have yet to put it to the test. :) for that long. It comes with a blade cover and a hex wrench for easy blade removal to sharpen. The blades are Teflon coated so if you clean the sap off after each use, Just remove the battery before doing so, I expect the blades will last a long time. The top blade is the only one that moves, the bottom one is stationary. it has a secondary trigger below the main trigger that has to be engaged as a safety feature before the blade will operate it is very quick. If you are pruning overhead wear safety glasses and gloves.a great buy

    Tough Workhorse to Have
Over the years my hands have lost strength making simple pruning jobs an even that I often suffer days later. So I've picked up power pruners of different sizes to maintain a 21 tree orchard, blackberries, landscape shrubs and roses. I liked the Dewalt 20V Pruner for its size intending to use for the smaller jobs. But once I used the tool I quickly realized it could handle the majority of my pruning. I found it light weight, powerful and easy to handle. I'm petite female with smaller hands and I have no problems controlling and operating the tool. The trigger safety is ingenius and possibly the best I've seen on any tool. You can easily use a middle finger as you grip the tool to depress into the grip - similar to a grip safety on some pistols. Once the safety is disengaged, the tool operates. Nice feature on what could be a dangerous tool without it. As a test I used the DeWalt 20V Pruner on a volunteer native boxwood. I had let the shrub grow at the foundation thinking it would make an attractive multi trunk small tree at the corner of my house. It required removing lots of branches of various sizes. The DeWalt 20V pruner ate through them like butter. For a project that would normally take the better part of an afternoon, I was able to prune this monster shrub in under an hour and now it's tamed. The pruner made clean quick cuts snug to the collar allowing me to literally work through the branches in no time. I included a picture of the wheel barrow full of pruned branches to show the volume this pruner cleared. Also is a photo of the blade showing no wear at all after cutting all those branches. The lighter spots are not nicks, they are merely where paint had been taken off while pruning. Probably because of the odd angles to get at some branches. I was able to prune the shrub AND remove a wild rose that had multiple vertical stems at the base of the shrub. I'd say the DeWalt 20V pruner is one tough workhorse and likely to be one of my go to pruners. From the manual it looks like the blade assembly can be removed for sharpening which is a real bonus. And the lithium ion 20V battery required is a common battery among my tools. I'm pleased with the pruner and highly recommend.
