A:  To change collet sizes, unscrew the collet assembly. Install the desired collet by reversing the procedure. The collet and the collet nut are connected. Do not attempt to remove the collet from the collet nut.

            Used lightly and falling apart
I only use this for intricate routing that I can't do on the router table so it has had very little use. Admittedly it works great and the small size is a plus. It's powerful for size but it eats batteries like crazy. I rated it a 3 because it is already falling apart. The handle cover is held on by these cheesy plastic rivets that are falling out. This makes the grip move around making it uncomfortable to use and probably dangerous. Didn't expect this from a Dewalt.

I purchased this router so I could have two routers with different setups for production. I like not having a cord to mess with. The router has plenty of power and when coupled with the newer compact 3AH batteries, it is excellent.

This is a compact powerful router, be sure you have the higher ampere hour batteries or several smaller batteries. This router is easy to use and handle, I used it to route a 52' x 40' trayed ceiling with 4' x 4' sections. All the work was overhead with one arm, this router did it all with ease.

This router is so easy to operate. It beats out my old router 100 percent. It's light-weight, even with the battery. I can use it anywhere. The compact design makes it easy to get into tighter spaces as well as working with uncut pieces to design just the perfect edging and fit. The battery (Sold separately) lasts quite awhile on this router, even with heavy use - something I have come to expect from Dewalt.

This is a real gem of a handheld router. It's light weight, powerful and has a lot of features. It's a great size to work on smaller projects that would get lost under a full size bench or plunge router. PROS: As I said this router is lightweight and that makes it easy to use one handed if needed (although you really should use one hand to support and move the router and the other to keep the base flush with guides. The clear Lexan base is a sturdy and generous 1/4 inch thick. It allows for easy viewing of what the bit is doing especially with the bright LED light in the base. The fixed base is easily adjustable for setting your desired depth or removed for putting the router in a plunge base. The brush-less motor is powerful and stops on a dime (and gives you 9 cents change). you can easily adjust the speed from about 16,000 RPM to about 27,000 with the conveniently placed dial. The variable speed function is nice for adjusting to larger bits or for working with softer materials. This router accepts only 1/4 inch diameter shaft bits. CONS: I found the micro adjust depth gauge a little difficult to read with my old eyes.

I currently have an older hand-held router (corded unit). My typical use is trimming Formica, or sometimes a wood edging. This unit has several nice improvements over my current router. Positive key features include: 1. The locking mechanism for the height adjustment is quick, and secure. 2. The actual adjustment for the height is easy, and has lots of adjustment capability. Much better than my old one. 3. This has a spindle lock similar to larger routers 4. The rubber grip around the body provides nice feel. 5. The base is clear, and larger than my old one. Possible negative issues: 1. I would have liked this a lot better if it was a corded unit. The concern is that a tool like this should last about 20 years (especially since it will only receive occasional use). However, batteries have a life of about 5 years, and very expensive to replace. Also, the battery drills (which is the most common use of cordless tools) keep changing every 7 or so years with new technology (and different battery configurations), which would make this tool obsolete. 2. The weight of the unit is noticeably heavier than my old unit. For horizonal use, it will not be an issue, but if you have vertical applications, it would be.

A handy little tool. The perfect size and weight and very convenient being as there is no cord to get in the way. The corded router I have been using is satisfactory, but for a quick job, having to get the workpiece close to an outlet can be a bother. With this battery operated DeWalt model I can take the tool to the workpiece. Variable speed is also a plus for this tool.
