Yes, it's compatible with the rest of the 20V MAX line. I've used it with my blower and drill batteries. Just to clarify -- a 5Ah battery is not "more powerful" than a 3Ah battery; it simply provides longer runtime. 1 Ah (Amp-hour) means that (at least in theory) a battery can provide 1 amp of current for an hour, or 2 amps for 0.5 hours, or 6 amps for 10 minutes. If the tool consumes an average of 5A when it's running, then a 5Ah battery would provide 1 hour of runtime, while a 3Ah battery would give you 3Ah/5A = 36 minutes.
I purchased the tool-only model last week-no blade guard! I went back to the Home Depot store where I purchased it- the sales associate opened up another one- no blade guard on that one! The floor model had a guard but for safety reasons the couldn't give it to me. He suggested contacting Dewalt, which I did. I emphasised the importance of having a guard so they sent me one free of charge and it arrived yesterday
Just bought this yesterday. No sheath. Disappointing.
None, clearly says it in the description
As others have said, it is not designed to be used as an edger and the guard is very small. However, this is how I use the trimmer. You just have to hold it at the correct angle. The trimmer is not too heavy, but it is still difficult to hold the trimmer at the correct angle even for a short time. Also, if the angle is not perfect, the line can grab grass to the inside of the edge line and pull the trimmer into the grass and gouge out an ugly section.
Absolutely yes. The DeWalt website (https://www.dewalt.com/products/outdoor/hedge-trimmers) says "Cut through overgrowth on the jobsite with our 20V MAX* hedge trimmers. And because FLEXVOLT® batteries are compatible with your 20V MAX* tools, you can get up to 8x the runtime out of your hedge trimmer."
Unfortunately it is not. I am waiting for Dewalt to finally come out with one though to match my Dewalt brushless string trimmer and blower. I don't know why they aren't updating their hedge trimmer. I want to see one with more power, a full 1" cut, a 24" length, brushless, comes with a sheath, and has a bit more sturdier plastics used for the housing i.e better build quality. Ego is beating them otherwise.
No. That is a different type of battery. You want the 5 amp/hour battery & charger.
There is no way to keep the saw running unless you depressed the safety lever , which is on the left side of the handle not left-handed friendly
no, tool only, batteries and charger must be purchased separately
