Does this unit require a 30 amp outlet for it to put out 30 amps? I would be running it off a generator to charge a bank of marine batteries. The outlets on my generator are only 20 amps.

No, the 30 amps output will be at 12 - 14 vols DC. The full load amps at the primary voltage would be 8 amps. Terry S....

Portable easy to use, cables and power cord tuck away nicely, It has a 2 bank charger to charge 2 batteries, great for charging both diesel truck batteries instead one at a time(which was the soul purpose of this purchase). Also charges one battery fairly quick, has a voltage check, shows percentage of battery being charged and Amps being charged, Has battery recondition cycle if needed, Alternator check, Engine start, AC pass through, and 3.1 Amp USB port, User friendly, no rocket science needed to operate.

First off if you pay any attention to the 1 ratings you can figure those people are just mad cause they don't own the capacity to use this cause basically the concept of this thing is a conditioner to begin with. Second point if you think that this will save your battery then you should get a 1 star for being naive! This thing isn't a magic wand for batteries, there are many factors as to why a battery wont condition and honestly why buy this when you can get a new battery at walmart for $50 that will start any V-8! That being said I pulled it out of the box connected the clamps, plugged it in and pressed charge and it worked like it should starting at 30 amps and ending up at 6 amps. I have to fall in line with Jeppy here, never mind the low raters or DeWalt haters, if you have any aptitude then it will work for you. Oh and the guy who said your battery should be resting at 14 volts obviously again has no aptitude and I wont explain why but one clue is If you watch the screen you will see it acts like an alternator charging at 14.4 volts. Battery was at 11.77 and 40 mins on this took it to 12.84... for a battery charger that is pretty good! Typically my 10 amp charger will take 6 hours so not only will this pay for itself over time but its green since you will use less energy to run it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nope..... Great looking charger with many great features, problem is, they don't work! Got this f... Nope..... Great looking charger with many great features, problem is, they don't work! Got this for Christmas 2017. I've hooked this to four different batteries and got the same results. Per the display and my clamp-on amp meter I've NEVER seen it put out more than 6amp. even when initially starting a charge on a low battery. Many times it goes directly into "recondition" mode (who would know if that's working correctly or not) and appears to do nothing. Bank 2 is totally dead. It doesn't even recognize a battery is connected to it and pushing the multi-bank button does nothing. I've read the instruction manual three times to be sure i understood how all the features operate. I was really hoping this was the charger for me and that I just had a bad unit that I could exchange. But from reading the other negative reviews that doesn't appear to me to be the case. Same issues reported. Guess I'll keep using my trusty 30 yr old analog charger, cause this one's going back to the store.

Learned the hard way that most modern battery chargers with polarity checking will not charge a deeply discharged battery -- i.e. voltage below 2V. Required my 25 year old charger to get it from 1.9V to 2V and then the DeWalt took it from there. Around 2V the DeWalt will flip over to battery reconditioning mode which does nothing of use. Above 2V everything is normal. Our problem is an extra car that sits idle for weeks and modern automotive electronics slowly drain the battery -- car alarm, etc. When we forget, we get deeply discharged batteries that will come back and last for years but the DeWalt will not charge a battery below 2V. The manual indicates this, but most sellers do not include the stipulation in their product descriptions. We now have a cheap battery maintainer to solve the problem and probably don't need the charger.

I purchased this 4/24/2017 from my local store and like an eager child on Christmas morning I could not wait to play with it (turn it on and charge both my batteries for the diesel truck). I was impressed with the ability to charge 2 batteries simultaneously, 80 amp engine start and the recondition setting that promises to bring dead batteries back to life! After five spectacular days of using this amazing machine, my love for it morphed into a deep saddened regret! This machine did not make it to day six and thus I can not recommend it to anyone. If you do buy this item and use it all the time as I have, I recommend you plug this item in a GFCI socket just in case of failure while unattended or watched over. This experience has not lessened my love for Dewalt tools, but I hope this product becomes more stable next year.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dewalt 30 amp Bought this months ago and after forgetting to turn my mower key off, I used this today to charge her back up. It worked easily and quickly. Charged to 100 percent in no time and cranked right up. Haven't used every option yet but so glad it was here when I needed it.
