Over the year my construction crew has relied on these. I’ve grew my crews and needed to buy new ones, the newer models are made cheaply. I’ve had to replace the mini pressure switch on a 3/4 compressor (hard to find parts), I’ve had one of them burn the pressure switch. The fourth compressor’s motor went out because of bad soldering. Not the same after they’ve compacted it to make it smaller. Guess that was a hint they’ve cut costs.

One of the most poorly designed products I've ever owned
I've owned this air compressor for about 2 years now and I've stopping work to write this review.
First of all, its run for two years so that's good. Out of the box some air leaks needed to be addressed Wich I sorted out.
As for portability, If you keep the pneumatic tires inflated it will roll around. That being said, going up and down stairs is the worst. There is a cross plate that sticks out proud of the roll cage wich scratches and gets hung up on every step you go down. My fault for not modifying it. Directly below this bar is where the short 36" power cable comes out, so if you forget to pick it up it pinches when you cart around. Lastly the luggage handle doesn't stay up.
You really can't plug this directly into a wall because the placement of the power cable is so inconvenient. Not to mention the power button is in the most out of the way place.
I think after this goes I'm off DeWalt

Beyond expectations
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this a few months ago and the wife and I decided to build our own cabinets. I have 2 Dewalt drills in addition to the Dewalt air compressor. The air compressor has changed my life. I absolutely am a Dewalt guy and now, I’m in love with air tools now thanks to this compressor. This is the first time I’ve ever owned an air compressor and I’m so glad that I took the plunge. Being a Dewalt guy, there was no choice but Dewalt air and it has definitely not disappointed me.

Highly portable and high pressure. This model has both pros and cons. The mobility and high pressure make this nice for taking to worksites, but it is only meant to operate in the down position, so takes up more workspace. The high pressure helps make the air last longer for most tools, but it is only 4.5 gallon so is not reccomended for high airflow applications such as painting or sandblasting. The paint job is really think, but brittle, in a couple areas not completely covered by the shipping tape, the paint cracked off. I do like that it includes two tool outlets, but both are regulated off the same pressure valve. And the tank holds pressure even after weeks as long as the outlet valves are turned down to no pressure. Solidly built, but the cord is only about 4 feet, and I had trouble getting it to reach most outlets in my garage. Depending on your needs, a larger tank size might preferable for a shop based unit, and a gas powered model might be better for a mobile model. This sits in the middle of work power and mobility.

We're very happy with this compressor. The wheels and retractable handle gave us the portability that we needed. It's not too big either. I don't know that it's any less noisy than other air compressors we've owned. This one does refill quickly. The gauges and connection ports are easy to see and reach. It's built tough. I would recommend this DeWalt model.

I use this on framing jobs with up to three nail guns and it’s a beast. I love it. My one disappointment with it came when I first fired it up. It’s advertised as a “quiet” compressor. It is NOT quiet. Not as loud as a pancake compressor, but close. Still a great compressor.
