Is the motor brushless?

I don’t believe that it is. It looks like most everything brushless on Home Depot’s website is cordless.

The depth gauge measure 0.225" in diameter by 8.25" long.

This is not enough drill for an auger to dig holes to plant roses unless they are little more than seedlings or the ground you're planting in is real soft. Even then I would want something with a lot more power and torque. If it were me I would look into renting a one man gas powered auger from Home Depot like this one: Copy and paste into your browser https://www.homedepot.com/p/rental/General-Equipment-Company-1-Man-Auger-M240H/309396403

Can i use it to mix mud and thinset, mortar, and drywall mud

Yes. It might be a little overkill but, I guess that depends on how thick the material is that you are mixing. With a proper paddle this will definitely have enough power to mix those items.

This Dewalt hammer drill is really powerful -- so much that I don't use it for average jobs. It will certainly do the job you want. I would drill through the floor panels with a regular bit, and then go back with the concrete bit separately. Once you get the first one in, the rest will be easy. BTW, I have two of these, so my helper can do tough jobs with me.

Can this drill drill on concrete and Metal

Yes you can turn the hammer setting off and use as drill. But really is made for concrete drilling.

Can this be used to remove tile?

Asked by Lindsey November 20, 2018

Answers

Unfortunately no, the drill is a rotary impact device. A floor tile needs an impact device that is non-rotary like an air hammer.

Good value and worked well. LIght-weight and easy to use. I not only drilled holes in concrete to insert expansion anchors, but I used it to bust out 60-year old concrete to make a door fit. I was very pleased.

Replaced 40+ y/o B&D, significantly lighter weight, nicer/easier reverse switch, variable trigger switch functions well. Used to remove 3 paint layers from 36" steel door plenty of muscle and speed control to do the job. Fits in old drill case so not a problem since DeWalt didn't supply one.

Great Drill
I had difficulty drilling into concrete block with an old variable speed drill. Did some research and decided to try a hammer drill. Went to Home Depot and with an associate's assistance, I selected this DeWALT 1/2in VARIABLE SPEED REVERSIBLE HAMMER DRILL. It has a switch that allows you to go from regular to hammer, and it made the job very easy. The attachable handle and depth guide is easy to add, and for the price I paid it is a great value. For the average homeowner who needs a drill for household projects, you can't go wrong. I recommend this corded drill over battery operated. I expect it to last for many years.

As A HAMMER Drill it is quite good. But used as a Regular drill, ( the one I bought, anyway ) leaves A Lot to be desired as a "variable speed" 1/2inch drill. Trigger response seems to be limited to only Full Speed or OFF on this one - way too fast for Large diameter bits - too slow for bits 5/16 or smaller ( for maximum cutting effectiveness and cutting edge life ). Used 2 weeks - not great in 3/16ths and thicker steel - Excellent as Hammer Drill with 3/8ths and larger in old, thick, hard-aggregate concrete and for stone of all types tried with.
