It’s engraved (punched, like reverse braille) where battery is installed.. On drill, around yellow outer rim face where battery is installed. No different color, so you definitely have to look.. good luck

The more common way to identify is the date code of manufacture which is located on the tool in the area where you would normally put in a battery. It is embedded into the tool and would start with a 20-- as in a year.
