Answersi would recommend using one of the larger drill bit so as to be able to use heavy duty hardware when anchoring the Address Plate, the Doorbell and the Mailbox. Each of those is a separate drilling and anchoring task. You May need molly bolts to anchor all that stuff unless you drill directly into the masonry or the furring strips every 18 inches apart.

I broke 6 of these bits trying to drillnholes in mild steel. Definintely not recommended for steel at all

BEWARE THESE ARE NOT BLACK OXIDE. These are HSS which are the cheapest and least durable type of drill bit. The ad clearly states in two places it is black oxide which is superior by a long shot to HSS (high speed steel). Dewalt pulled a fast one because this SKU used to be a black oxide set, so I don't totally blame H.D.

Not as advertised
I should have read the reviews. What is in the picture is not what you get. I'm going to keep them because I do not want to waste time returning and I need some bits. I'm sure they are good bits, but not the bits or case that is shown in the picture.

Black without the gold drill bits
After watching the impressive Dewalt video, I decided to order the black and gold drill bits. When I received them (all black), I figured the gold was simply underneath the coating. As soon as I started drilling on wood, the bit wandered. I tested a few more bits, and they all wandered. The holes were rough and not round. The black coating started coming off exposing slightly gold tinted steel. The tips also felt dull after drilling a few holes in wood. This set totally failed all expectations.

Misleading product description
These bits are BLACK OXIDE bits, not the Black and Gold bits that are advertised. The price, at $10 out the door isn't bad, but it is not the product that is advertised. I will keep them and use them. Don't know how good they are, but 1 star rating for being misleading and potentially dishonest. I should have read the reviews first, seems like this has been going on for a while with this particular product. I'm giving them a second star just for the benefit of the doubt because I am not going to try and return them, which might have been their opportunity to make up for the mistake. Third star is for outstanding shipping service, showed up in less than 36 hours in perfect condition.
