Customer Reviews

DEWALT Ceramic Rapid Heat Full Size Glue Gun is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 156.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Get the right glue sticks I know there are a lot of bad reviews about this gun and I do not think the gun itself is the problem, when I purchased this I bought the Stanley 10" glue sticks ,450 diameter that were sitting right next to it as I am thinking a lot of people have done. The gun worked for a minute with those sticks and I started having the same issues other people were having, I combed the internet for a solution and then I even took apart the gun to see if something was out of whack and I couldn't find an answer to my problem. I was about to return this to HD for a refund and write this off as my first DeWalt disappointment when my wife says "why don't you try one of my glue sticks?" So I did and I used a sure bond 4"x.430 diameter stick and the gun worked flawlessly. I have been using the .430 x 4" or 6" length glue sticks of different brands for about 6 months now and this gun has preformed flawlessly and has been very reliable for me.

This gun heats quickly, and has a high output. My old gun was a little slow due to the fact that it did not melt the sticks quite as fast as I could apply the glue. This gun does not have that problem. Squeeze the trigger and you have HOT melted glue, no matter how fast or how much you apply. In between uses the gun is stable in the upright position balanced on the rear handle butt an the front stabilizer wire. It uses standard sticks so I can use up my existing sticks before I purchase more. It dribbles a little then stops but not as much as my old gun which produced a puddle while it sat. This gun has one temp HIGH so if you are crafting or feel like your material is delicate I would consider a dual temp or cooler gun. This gun is clearly made for a shop or industrial use. Mine is in my shop so I am completely satisfied with this gun. The only problems I had were related to a few bad glue sticks no issues with this gun.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hot Heat Gun I got this as a gift for Father’s Day and it doesn’t disappoint. I used it with the two supplied glue sticks on the high heat setting and it melted the sticks in no time flat. The feed mechanism fed the sticks with no effort. It even has a handy wire stand built into it. It’s a great addition to my ever-growing stash of yellow tools! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy with my purchase I was a bit worried about purchasing this after reading the reviews, but took a chance thinking maybe a previous version of this glue gun was not made well. I've had mine for about a year and half. To be honest, I don't use it everyday, but I pull it out every few months. I ran a lot of glue sticks through it attaching carpet while building cat trees and never had an issue with the trigger or it not advancing the glue. Don't know if I purchased better quality glue sticks than those that had trouble, but mine works every bit as good as I expected it to work. Also I take the loaded glue stick out before I store it. I'm happy with mine -

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Glue Advance I had the same problem as others had with the glue not advancing as soon as I took the gun out of the box. Of course I lost my receipt so taking the gun back was not really an option. So I decided to take the gun apart and try to fix it. My only other option was throw it away. The problem with the glue advance is that there is a lever not engaging in the moving mechanism that advanced the stick. I took punch and tapped it loose. Reassembled the gun and wala. It works great now. Just wanted to share this info in case someone else is in the position that I was. I would not purchase the gun again because the customer should not have to repair a new product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Flawed Product, needs to be redesigned. This glue gun seemed really sturdy, and I was very pleased with it when I first bought it. Unfortunately, it has two major flaws which seem to be rampant within the model. Firstly, it doesn't get as hot as you would expect. It seemed to have a very hard time melting the glue sticks that are recommended for it, and even then it didn't melt it all the way. Secondly, the unit's design does not feed the glue stick into the melting chamber properly. I started using this product the day I bought it. I let it heat up for about 15 minutes and it worked fine the first time. Several days later, I went to use it again and followed the same process, but found that it had started malfunctioning. I had to use my thumb to push the glue through the gun. I hadn't even managed to get halfway through the first glue stick when I gave up. What a waste.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from don't be fooled This glue gun doesn't live up to the usual DeWalt quality standards. Although it looks great, tough and rugged, it is not. It will not advance the glue using the recommended Stanley GS25DT glue sticks. I didn't even get through the first stick before the problems started. I give it a 10 min. warm up cycle and started a very small task. When the glue glue first came out, it was barely melted, and not very flowing at all. I gave it more warm up time, but nothing improved. In fact, halfway through the very first stick, the feeding mechanism wouldn't advance the stick at all. I used my thumb to push the stick forward to get through my small project. I've used $8.00 guns that worked much better and actually melted the glue thoroughly. I cannot speak of reliability, as I'm done with this gun. I will be returning it ASAP.
