Yes, as these shoes are slip-resistant, they would help for this in a kitchen as well.

How many layers of Kevlar does this have? And is the fabric made completely of Kevlar, or does it have other fibers woven in?
Asked by: Doresoom
The entire upper of our Kevlar footwear is made completely of Kevlar. We do put a TPU overlay on top for cosmetic purposes. It is a single layer of Kevlar and is 15 times more abrasion resistant than most man-made materials and 8 times more than leather. Highly resistant to damage and scratching.

Does this shoe have any safe guards against nail punctures from beneath or electrical hazards--electrician approved?

Asked by: AyeAron
Thanks for your question. The Crossfire Low is EH certified, but does not have a puncture resistant plate. Take a look at the Crossfire Mid. It is EH certified and has a PR plate in the midsole. You would have both areas of protection with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Nice Athletic Reinforced Work Shoe I have only had these a few days and these shoes are awesome. Way better than a work boot! You can walk freely with ankle support, yet not be confined to overly hot, rugged, brace-like shoes. They are made with an aluminum toe so they are lighter weight than a traditional steel toe shoe. From the feel of them, it offers a similar strength in protection your feet from falling objects. Personally, I really appreciate the higher padded arch support. It absorbs the stress of standing up all day. They have a thick rubberized sole on them that serve a few purposes. One, they absorb electric shock and help ground you if you find yourself in that situation. They also are slip/oil resistant should you work in an environment like roofing or in an auto garage. And they are waterproof. Water just beads right off them! The only drawback to being waterproof is they don't breathe well. It is not a hot shoe by any means. But if you have feet that sweat, this may be an issue. For me, my feet did not get hot, but my socks did feel moist when taking them off after a full day's duties. They are also made with Kevlar to protect against material scratching. I wear a size 13 wide in a traditional athletic shoe. So when I got these, they do run slightly wide for a wide. But that was only the first few times wearing them. Then after working them in a little bit, they don't feel big at all. But I feel that ever so slight looseness is to give you enough room for rugged work socks. They are not made for dress socks or even athletic socks, even though they will fit. I find the shoe very light weight all things considered for a work shoe. In fact, for me, it feels about the same as just a pair of athletic/running shoes. This was exactly what I was hoping for since most work boots are heavy. These shoes are a bit over the top and enormous, but so worth it.

The side of my big toes were positioned against the toe caps in the shoes. Also, as others state the top of the shoes are really stiff. Which caused the openings to rub in odd places on my ankles and cause blisters.

Lighter than anticipated based upon the description. Slightly stiff upon initial wear, but that is to be expected based upon the design and intent of the product. Fit is accurate to size.

They also hit the front of your ankle. They are light weight for a work shoe. It has taken me a few weeks to break them in, but they have excellent arch support and surface grip. I wanted a good work shoe with toe protection and they provide this if you take the time to break them in. I wore them gradually longer each day until I can now wear them all day without any problems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great work shoes These safety shoes are comfortable and feel and look like regular shoes. They are very solidly built though with steel toe caps (actually aluminum but that sounds strange). It is cool to see the Dewalt name on a pair of shoes rather than a tool. They have Kevlar built into the shoes so hopefully they will last well. I ordered them online based on the size of shoes that I normally wear and they fit. I was a little worried because often shoes don’t seem to be the listed size. I also got the wide size because I have wide feet and they fit well.

The sides are really stiff when you first put them on, but for me they relaxed a bit once I started working. The sole material could be a little tougher, I tore a bit of edge off already, though that's probably the trade-off to get them to be slip resistant. But most importantly, the weight helped ensure my legs didn't ache at the end of the day, even while working outside on a deck.

They have a very well cushioned insole and laces that hold nicely. No need to double knot them. The only problem I have is the side being slightly high for my ankle. Minor issue I can live with. I don't even notice it on the job so it's not an issue. Other reviews mentioned a stiffness - that the shoes don't bend well. Mine are just fine and are surprisingly comfortable all day long.
