How many layers of Kevlar does this have? And is the fabric made completely of Kevlar, or does it have other fibers woven in?
Asked by: Doresoom
The entire upper of our Kevlar footwear is made completely of Kevlar. We do put a TPU overlay on top for cosmetic purposes. It is a single layer of Kevlar and is 15 times more abrasion resistant than most man-made materials and 8 times more than leather. Highly resistant to damage and scratching.

Does this shoe have any safe guards against nail punctures from beneath or electrical hazards--electrician approved?

Asked by: AyeAron
Thanks for your question. The Crossfire Low is EH certified, but does not have a puncture resistant plate. Take a look at the Crossfire Mid. It is EH certified and has a PR plate in the midsole. You would have both areas of protection with it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Heavy-duty shoe, athletic style but work-focused I've been wearing these shoes for a week, doing yard work, hiking, and walking around the neighborhood. Overall, I'm very impressed. They're stylish, and yet very heavy-duty. The aluminum toe cap makes it solid as a rock in front, which you wouldn't guess just by looking at it. You could probably drop 100 pounds on your toe and not feel it! Now, here are just a few concerns I have: (1) the sides of the shoe are very stiff, and I found that when fully laced up, the top edges dug right into my ankles, catching me right below my ankle bone. That made it very uncomfortable, and of course it may not affect everyone, as the fit of a shoe is very personal. That being said, no athletic shoe I've ever worn, or even low-cut hiking shoes, have been this stiff. To make these wearable, I had to skip the top level of lace holes to avoid pulling those side panels so close to my ankles. That of course reduces support, but it was necessary in my case. (2) these shoes are a bit expensive, but if you consider them more of a boot than a shoe, the price makes more sense. One thing I should note: although these are rated as a D width, I actually thought they were a bit narrow, which is perfect for my narrow foot, but may be problematic for anyone who needs a true D width. Make sure to order the wide (EE) if your foot is slightly above-average in width. So, overall, I'm pleased with the shoes and with the change to the lacing I made, they are working perfectly for me. As with any shoes, however, it all comes down to how they fit, and that's going to depend on the person wearing them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very rugged shoes, but uppers are quite stiff and require break in I really like these shoes, except for one issue: the upper portion is very stiff. I like the looks, I like the sole, and I particularly like the aluminum safety toe. If you look at the shoe, you can't even tell it has the aluminum toe--it isn't bulky or overly large. The shoes fit me well, and are sized very similar to the Merrell shoes I typically wear. The insole is comfortable and it has a nice supportive arch. They fit well and I really like them. The only thing I don't like about these shoes is the extremely stiff upper. The upper apparently includes Kevlar fibers for durability and abrasion resistance, which sounds neat, but the downside is that it feels like a very stiff, almost plastic-like material. In the spots where the shoe bends, the fabric folds and creases, which pushes it inward and pinches the sides of my feet. The fabric on the tongue and around the ankle was also very stiff at first, although that seems to have softened up over a few weeks. I think these are great shoes, but I would recommend breaking them in, wearing them a few hours at a time, over at least 3 days to make sure they are comfortable for you before wearing them to work or on a full day project. Now that I've had them for a few weeks, they are more comfortable, but I'm hoping that the uppers soften up even more. After a few weeks, the uppers and soles look like brand new, other than some dirt. I am confident that these shoes will last far longer them my Merrell shoes, and it is really nice to have the toe protection. If you're looking for an extremely durable pair of shoes with toe protection, and have the patience to slowly break them in, these shoes are a great option.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very uncomfortable I have several Dewalt boots but I am totally a sneaker guy. I ordered this with an additional pair of boots when I read the great reviews and saw the design. Unfortunately I could not even go a couple of minutes with it on. Very hard around the ankle and the most uncomfortable shoe I have ever put on. Returned it and got an extra pair of the Dewalt boots.
