    It sounds like the blade may have not been properly seated when initially inserted. Try pressing down on the small black switch located on the right side (easy blade change). If blade was initially inserted without pushing the switch down, the blade is not installed properly and will be very hard to push out (that was my initial problem as well). It takes a bit to get used to that function since the instructions are only a small diagram on the back of the package. I hope that helps.

    With the old blade fully extended out, push down on the easy blade change switch/lever located on the right side of the tool. With that switch pressed you can pull the blade out and turn it to use the other end and slide it (or a new blade) back in. Both removing the old blade and inserting the new blade require the easy blade change switch to be pressed. I hope that help.

    Great case with one flaw. Plastic
    I've owned six of these utility knives. and each and every single one breaks at the plastic cover. it never fails. which is sad because this is the best utility knife I've used in the last 10 years.

    Nice utility knife
    This is a nice utility knife than retracts and folds in half. I love how you only have to flip the back piece up for blade storage and to switch blades out takes literally a second with pulling down a mechanism.

    For the price and quality I gave it 3 stars since the plastic closure that holds the spare blades...
    For the price and quality I gave it 3 stars since the plastic closure that holds the spare blades broke upon first use. I exchanged it with no problems but with similar options by Dewalt for a fraction of the price that may be a better option. (Which saves you some money to buy the better refill blades). For the price you pay, and this being their high end option, I think Dewalt should use metal instead of plastic on the handle spare blade compartment. It feels and functions great. I hope that helps you decide.

    Durable, functional, compact!
    [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As a whole this knife has done everything I can ask of a razor knife. Folds, retracts, has extra blade storage and a nice belt clip. This has worked well for me as I like the hand feel of a full size knife but i also like the pocketability of smaller knives, this one was best of both worlds!

    Folding Retractable knife
    [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The retractable knife blade is very sturdy and has a firm grip that allows you to do more cuts without easily breaking the knife when putting tension when cutting into hard surfaces. The blade storage is very easy and accessible but only holds 3 blades, and you don't have to unscrew any screws or disassembled the knife to switch out blades. I also liked the pocket clip that makes it easy to carry the blade on the outside of your pockets instead of trying to dig out the blade from your pocket.

    [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The knife feels solid and has a good locking mechanism. I'm not worried about it closing on me when in use. The blades are easy to replace with the slide button release system. I use it for cutting out old caulk, cutting drywall, scribing, freeing painted baseboars, etc.

    Quality knife
    [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this knife a few days ago I am impressed by the weight and the balance of the knife. There are a couple of things that I did feel a little uncomfortable with. #1 the way I had to handle the blade to be able to load the knife. It was not a smooth insertion and has the potential for getting cut. #2 on the underside where you have to push the clip to fold the knife the clip is the bottom of where the extra blades are stored. Overall it fits the hand well and is of good quality.

First dewalt tool ive bought that didnt work as described of the shelf. Ive had a few different dewalt knives and they all were 5 star tools.

    Easy to Use. Great Features.
    Extendable handle makes it easier to grip and to apply more force and control over the cut The knife comes with 3 blades securely hidden in the handle. The handle reliably locks open under all working circumstances I've tried. Release spring is well shielded. No accidental closing. Installing the blade is a little tricky, but seemed to get easier after a couple of tries. The latch is a little stiff, but it either loosens up after a couple of tries or I got the feel for the installation. You do need to have a firm grasp on the blade to get it to lock into the handle. Pictographic instructions are a little hard to understand, but you’ll figure it out. Well worth the price for professional or home use.
