What size compressor is required for this?

I use a relatively small "pan" compressor with my siding nailer and works fine, because each siding nail is spaced by brief break, not a fast process. I'm not sure I could operate too many pneumatic tools at one time.

Ryan, Short answer, yes. I used DWC6R90BDG nails for both sheathing & cement board. It's only a 2 inch nail, but more than enough for 1/2 inch sheathing. I also used this nail to build roof trusses.

What length size and type nail for hanging 5/8 picket dogears on to 2x4s

Mike, Take a look @ the attached picture. It shows nails, which can be used with this nailer. I believe either the 1 1/2 or 1 3/4 inch nails will work. The 1 3/4 inch nails are available in stainless (DWC5R90BDSS), if rusting is a concern for you. As an aside, I thought this was a great tool. I used it to install cement board, loved the results.

Please keep in mind that Dewalt offers specials from time to time which will cut the price down by eliminating the case for those that do not care to have one. If it shows a case, it comes with it and the pricing will reflect that. I specifically purchase all my power tools with a case or buy a bag to store it in, separately. My brother doesn't care for the cases because he stores most of his tools in the larger wheeled stackable totes with the pull handles that Rigid/Dewalt manufactures. Important to note, my siding nailer did, in fact, come with a case and said so in the description/ specifications of the tool

can this be used for roofing

No, Roofing nails won't fit. The heads are too big.

I'm assuming this nailer has and adjustment for nail depth, could it be used to install vinyl siding?

Once you get used to how to load the nails without them getting jammed and the touchy trigger so you don't shoot 2 nails at once, it is a great tool. I didn't want to use my husbands heavy framing tool to hang our siding. This works great for anyone without a lot of hand strength.
