The aluminum will dull the carbide. If you go slow, it will cut it for a while. If you have a lot of cuts, I’d expect to throw the bit away after you’re finished

Can I make plunge cuts with this bit?

Are your "Diablo router bits" on sale now [7/13/2013] carbide? Also, who makes Diablo?

Not sure about the sales; but, Diablo is made by Freud. The bits are of very good quality, exactly the same as Freud (except for color); but, according to an article I read, Freud is less expensive in some cases.

The wrong item received after wasting my time. I ordered a half inch shank and I received one with a quarter inch shank totally unsuitable for the project after over a week of waiting. Read the order.

This is a great mortising bit. The blades are very sharp and cut very well with smooth edges and faces. I've been using this to cut slots for 3/4" mid-grade Maple plywood shelves and it works well. After cutting almost 20 linear feet at 3/8" deep its just as sharp as it was before. Diablo/Freud bits aren't the cheapest but they last incredibly well. I always get them if they are available.

This router bit cut clean with little to no resistance when cutting wood or MDF. My father is 69 and he was able to assist with the project as the tool made the cuts easy. We used the tool to router shelves for a custom closet. I would recommend this router bit to others.
